As we end the Liturgical Year and begin anew with the season of Advent, we will continue providing daily readings from Revelations and Prophesies Imparted to St. Bridget of Sweden along with, if you are following us on social media, twenty minutes or less a day of listening to Fr. F X Schoupe's Purgatory Explained by the Legends of the Saints on Youtube. Of course, the poor souls in Purgatory need our attention every day, so it is only right to keep up this study and practice the science of the Saints given to us by Holy Mother Church in hopes of securing the release of their souls so they can see God face-to-face - a most efficacious fulfilment of our obligations to show mercy and charity to our brethren in the Church Suffering. In the Chronicles of the Friars Preachers (Cf. Rossign., Merv. I), according to Fr F X Schouppe, SJ, an account is given of Brother Benedict, who, in his concerned about his brother's neglect in offering Masses for the dead, won a debate with him, proving these souls are more deserving of charity than the souls who need conversion, since while the latter are on earth, they have the means to help themselves, whereas the poor souls are completely dependent on our works of charity for relief. With a little help from a visit from one of these souls, the next morning, Brother Bertrand dressed in his black Vestments and offered the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for them. (See Ch. 35, Purgatory Explained).

Consider, now, during this penitential season of Advent, how, before He was born, we waited for thousands of years for our Savior, very much with the same helplessness of the souls of the Church Suffering. Many gave up waiting and hoping and when He was finally here, had completely lost sight of who He was and why He came and rejected Him. Not, by the Grace of God in the miraculous Immaculate Conception, Our Blessed Mother Mary, though, who in Her Fiat enables us to ourselves see God face-to-face one day. And this is how we begin Advent - with a Novena in honor of the Immaculate Conception in preparation for Her Feast Day on December 8th.

And, speaking of miracles, the computer of our beloved founder, Michael Cain, arrived via UPS two days early, which, were it not, would have caused the domain name dailycatholic.org to EXPIRE! This would have made it impossible for anyone to visit this web page or for us to even notify you of a new domain name if we wanted to! God forbid! In answer to our prayers, it arrived safely, albeit broken, and we were able to log into the necessary accounts to renew it. If it hadn't come two days early on the 27th, it would have tried to autorenew on a cancelled American Express card on the 28th and we would have missed the boat. Praised be Jesus Christ!: Laudetur Jesus Christus (Did you know, if you reply with "Now and forever. Amen: in saecula saeculorum! Amen"" you can gain an indulgence of 50 days for the dead? Raccolta #45 Pope Clement XIII added a Plenary for anyone who devoutly practiced this and at the time of death invokes His holy Name). Clearly, despite all the particulars that can interfere with the publication of our issues, it is the Will of Our Father Almighty that we bring you this Advent issue and, hopefully, many more!

Note: Unfortunately, there was a problem with the email address provided in the November issue, and we have not received any email. Please accept our apology if anyone attempted to contact us unsucessfully. Starting with this issue, we will use a new email address for The Daily Catholic: editor@dailycatholic.org. Also, we will no longer need to use the temporary paypal account and have restored the old donation form associated with the 501c3 for tax-deductions.

May you all have a grace-filled Advent in preparation for Christmastide. God bless and keep. Ecce Dóminus véniet

That is why we have endeavored for 22 years online to bring you the unadulterated truths and traditions of the Church instituted by Christ. We can humbly say we have never had to print a retraction of anything published on these pages. Of course with all that we have here and in archives it takes money to continue. We know that so many of our readers are unable to assist at a true traditional Latin Mass because of where they live and use the daily liturgy from the approved St. Andrew Missal 1945 in accordance with Pope Pius XII's General Romas Calendar and in so doing can gain the efficacious graces possible through their prayers at home. We remain the only publication in the world to provide such and are grateful to God that we can provide such nourishment for souls. So if you have benefited in any way, we'd be so grateful for a tax-deductible donation of whatever you deem it is worth.

I'm struck with awe of the advice the great Doctor of the Church St. Augustine passed down regarding almsgiving that you see directly below.

"Generosity will save a person from Eternal Death, it will even blot out any sin.....because Almsgiving is prayer...it brings graces, it cleanses the soul from guilt and punishment.....What good is faith without works, if we desert our fellow man in his need.?"

Please don't desert the DailyCatholic and this traditional apostolate of SANCTUS. If you have benefited in anyway from what we have published, we humbly ask your help to keep this publication on line. We know that so many of our readers are unable to assist at a true traditional Latin Mass because of where they live and use the traditional daily liturgy, devotional material, and inspirational articles we publish to gain the efficacious graces possible through their prayers at home. We remain the only publication in the world to provide the Propers every day of the year and are grateful to God that we can provide such nourishment for souls. We've decided to focus more on these aspects of our Catholic Faith and, for the most part, link the polemics of what is happening today in the Church and state. Whatever you can afford will be greatly appreciated. Just click the button below. We are a bonafide non-profit 501c(3) religious association and all donations are tax-deductible. Thank you in advance for any donation you can send.

Special Novena Prayer from Nov 30 to Christmas Day with Special Christmas Novena Prayer

The Daily Catholic

The First Sunday of Advent picks up where the Last Sunday after Pentecost left off as we begin another full Liturgical Year. John Gregory provides the Haydock Commentary for the First Sunday of Advent Don't say we weren't warned in which our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ alerts us of the signs that will signal His return and at that time man will realize the folly of following the world, the flesh and the devil just as St. Paul admonishes us to "cast off the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light". For the First Week of Advent, the prayer around the Advent Wreath, as we light one candle during the special prayers for the week beginning on Sunday. Prior to this, the Advent Wreath was blessed with the prayers:

Priest: Our help is in the name of the Lord. All: Who hath made Heaven and earth. Priest: Let us pray. O God, by Whose word all things are sanctified, pour forth Thy blessing sprinkles the wreath with holy water upon this wreath, and grant that we who use it may prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ and may receive from Thee abundant graces. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. For more, see First Week Advent Wreath Prayer.

Last Thursday we also began the Nine Day Novena for the Immaculate Conception. On the last day of November on the feast of the holy Apostle and Martyr St. Andrew, we began the Christmas Novena Prayer to be prayed 15 times a day through Christmas Day.

In this first week, replete with Advent Feria days, we commemorate Saint Bibiana, a virgin who was martyred by scourging soon after the martyrdom of her parents, Flavian and Dafrosa, and her sister, Saint Demetria, who is celebrated on June 21. Also on Sunday we continue the Novena in preparation for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. On Monday, we celebrate the feast of the holy missionary St. Francis Xavier followed by the feast of the holy Bishop and Doctor of the Church St. Peter Chrysologus on Tuesday whose golden voice earned him the title the Doctor of Homilies with a commemoration of the holy virgin and martyr St. Barbara. Also on that day we begin the nine-day Novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12. Wednesday we commemorate Saint Sabbas, an Abbot given charge of 10,000 monks previously under the care of Saint Euthymius the Great, and who, with his monks persuaded Anastatius I of Palestine to end persecution of Bishops. On First Friday this week we honor another holy Doctor and Bishop - the esteemed Converter of Saints, St. Ambrose whose feast the Church placed, in a manner of speaking, sandwiched between the feasts of St. Nicholas on Thursday and the First Class Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on Saturday.

John Gregory provides the Haydock Commentary for this solemnity with From All Eternity. It was 164 years ago on December 8, that His Holiness Pope Pius IX officially declared the great dogma of the Immaculate Conception decreeing that Mary, was conceived from all Eternity totally free of Original Sin for God would choose nothing but a pure tabernacle to house the Father's only-begotten Son. The solemnity is not only a holyday of Obligation, but the United States is dedicated to Mary under the title of the Immaculate Conception. For the the Mass of this First Class Solemnity, see Gaudens gaudébo

O Mary Immaculate! Guard with loving care this country dedicated to thee. Let thy purity keep it pure. Watch over its institutions. As thou art the Refuge of all sinners, this country is the refuge of the exiled and the oppressed. Guide it ever in the ways of peace. Let not its prosperity be its ruin. Alas! Many of its children who know not what they do, are walking in uncertain paths which are dark, and lead them away from truth. Mother of all, pray for us and plead for them, that we, thy children, may love and adore thy adorable Son with more fervent faith, and that those who are wandering in error's path may, through thy intercession, return to the one Fold of the True Shepherd - to thy Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

The prayer above to Mary, patron of America under the title of the Immaculate Conception, is more pertinent today than ever before as we see from the daily headlines. Amongst all the filth and evil embodied in the world, the flesh and the devil we can turn to the spotless Mother of Christ, whom God deigned from the beginning of time to be conceived immaculately in her mother St. Anne's womb in order that there would be the purest living tabernacle for the Son of God. What joy we have in having the purest of mothers to intercede for us. Dr. Thomas A. Droleskey presents inspiration for this Solemnity with Spotless Blessed Mother, Spotless Mother Church.

In this time of the Octave of the Immaculate Conception, the highlight of this Second Week of Advent is the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe as the Novena continues. On Sunday we begin with the prayer around the Advent Wreath, as we light two candles during the special prayer as the second candle is lit:

Priest: Our help is in the name of the Lord. All: Who hath made Heaven and earth. Priest: Let us pray. O Lord, stir up our hearts that we may prepare the ways of Thine only-begotten Son, that through His coming we may be made worthy to serve Thee with purified minds. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. For more, see Second Week Advent Wreath Prayer.

For the Second Sunday of Advent, John Gregory provides the Haydock Commentary "More Than a Prophet"Most of this week we observe the Feria for the Second Sunday in place of the discontinued observance of the Masses within the Octave of the Immaculate Conception.

The exceptions being Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Monday we celebrate the amazing Translation of the Holy House of Loreto, where in answer to a prayer of a faithful Bishop in Croatia, who prayed for the stamina to visit the house where our Lord incarnated, and to prevent further danger of destruction in Bethlehem, the house of Mary, Jesus and Joseph was moved by angels three times within the space of a year until it landed in Loreto. Wednesday we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe as we complete the Novena for this feast. Mary appeared in 1531 to the peasant Juan Diego and produced the miraculous tilma as proof she had not only appeared, but that she came to end human sacrifice. Shortly after the Aztecs' beastly practice was abandoned, so strong her message, that most of Mexico was converted to the true Faith when countless others were abandoning it in Europe during the Protestant Revolution of the sixteenth century. Dr. Droleskey offers an account of this in The Americas Belong to Our Lady. Thursday, December 13, is the feast of the holy virgin and martyr St. Lucy. On Friday we observe a Feria where we once observed the Octave Day of the Immaculate Conception and celebrate the Second Sunday of Advent with a sermon on The Immaculate Conception by Father Robert Letourneau.

And look at all the saints commemorated through this week! Sunday - Saint Peter Fourier, Confessor; Monday - Saint Melchiades, Pope and Martyr; Tuesday - Saint Damasus I, Pope and Confessor; Friday - Saint Casius, Bishop and Martyr; Saturday - Saint Paul Latros, Confessor!

To fortify why the CONciLIAR church is the false church, see key Papal Decrees that preceded it in pre-Vatican Two times by true Popes who solidly condemned the V2 false 'popes' who have spit in Heaven's Face. God will not be mocked. See for yourself what the infallible, perennial Magisterium of the Church has decreed:

by Mario Derksen

In the midst of Advent we take time to rejoice in the Lord as we hear and pray several times during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the Third Sunday of Advent "Gaudéte in Dómino"; something that gives us great hope just as it inflamed the hearts of those hearing St. John the Baptist's call to repent for the Lord was nigh. In the Third Week of Advent the prayer around the Advent Wreath begins by lighting three candles, during the special prayers for the week beginning on Sunday. It begins with:

Priest: Our help is in the name of the Lord. All: Who hath made Heaven and earth. Priest: Let us pray. O Lord, we beseech Thee, incline Thine ear to our prayers and enlighten the darkness of our minds by the grace of Thy visitation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. His coming we may be made worthy to serve Thee with purified minds. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. For more, see Third Week Advent Wreath Prayers.

John Gregory provides the Haydock Commentary where, in St. Paul's Epistle he speaks of the attributes of the Holy Sacrifice with Repentant Prayer, Adoration, Petition and Thanksgiving in preparation for receiving Our Lord and Savior, Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity in the holy Eucharist. In the Gospel of St. John the Evangelist, his namesake the Baptist, when grilled by the Jews, confounds them by not identifying Who the Lord is by name, but rather by the Old Testament prophesies. When interrogated as to who this raggedy man who baptizes with water is, he answers with what Isaias foretold as "the voice of one crying in the wilderness" as we see in The Voice of the Precursor.

This week is Ember Week in Advent with the normal rules of fast and abstinence on Wednesday and Saturday with Friday remaining full abstinence from meat.

Everyone between 21 and 59 years of age is bound to observe the law of fast. Besides all the days of Lent for fasting and partial abstinence (except Sundays), Ember Days are days of fast and partial abstinence. In Advent we have two Vigils with complete abstinence. December 7 is the Vigil of the Immaculate Conception, and Christmas Eve is also the same. No meat. On days of fast only one full meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength may be taken according to each one's need, but together they should not equal another full meal. Meat may be taken at the principal meal on a day of fast except on days of complete abstinence. Eating between meals is not permitted but liquids, including milk and fruit juices are allowed. When health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige. In doubt concerning fast or abstinence, consult your parish priest or confessor.

On Tuesday's Ferial Day we commemorate the traditional observance of the Expectation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On Friday we honor the holy Apostle St. Thomas, known affectionately as the "Doubting Apostle" from his questioning of whether or not Our Lord appeared to the others in the upper room after His Resurrection. The next day is the Double of the second class feast of the pioneering virginal educator and missionary Mother St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, who left her indelible mark on many institutions in the United States.

Commencing on Monday we begin the "O Antiphons", a tradition long observed by holy Mother Church since the eighth century. Said in the Office for the day, they are derived from various titles of Jesus Christ and scripturally based short prayers said from the 17th through the 23rd of December by which the Church expresses her deep longing for the coming of the Messiah. Thus, beginning Sunday is the countdown to the Nativity Nine-Day Nativity Novena and the O Antiphons

We have arrived at the last Sunday of Advent, which this year is the Vigil of Christmas aka Christmas Eve. As we see in the Haydock Commentary, again provided by John Gregory, features the expectation of the Light of the world to "bring to light the hidden things of darkness" as St. Paul notes in the Epistle and St. Luke asserts that "the crooked shall be made straight; and the rough ways plain" by the coming of He Who will redeem man as has been foretold by the immediate precursor of the Messias. That, of course, is St. John the Baptist, who proclaims the Lord is nigh and who shall "make straight His paths". While there is a commemoration for the Fourth Week of Advent, the prayer around the Advent Wreath is still observed which begins by lighting all four candles, the rose colored one specially for this Fourth Sunday:

Priest: Our help is in the name of the Lord. All: Who hath made Heaven and earth. Priest: Let us pray. O Lord, we beseech Thee, stir up Thy power and come; and with great might deliver us, that with the help of Thy grace, Thy merciful forgiveness may hasten what our sins impede. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. For more, see Fourth Week Advent Wreath Prayers.

The Nativity of Our Lord begins at midnight with Midnight Mass which signals the beginning of...

We encourage you to learn more about the Traditional Latin Mass - the true Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in these videos at this link because each time you worthily assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in person, you gain graces that are placed in a "golden chalice", so to speak, and is offered to God to be weighed in substance when you stand before Him at your Particular Judgment. The more you have filled this chalice, the better will it go for your spiritual welfare in eternity, enhanced by your cooperation with grace. Know the Mass

To assist all in striving toward holiness, click on the Confessional to your right to review your transgressions through a thorough Examination of Conscience

When One Cannot physically assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass we provide additional prayers that can be supplemented with the ORDINARY OF THE HOLY MASS and the PROPER OF THE DAY to enable you to better prepare yourself at home. Of course, this never replaces actually being there, but it is much better than attending the Novus Ordo services. Therefore we have gleaned from The Key of Heaven prayers to say at home. It is very comforting to know that the Holy Mass is offered for us even when we are not actually present. But to enjoy the benefits which it procures, we must by a SPIRITUAL COMMUNION become partakers of the altar from which we are temporarily banished. Here we provide prayers in preparation for fulfilling assistance in absentia in addition to the ORDINARY OF THE HOLY MASS and PROPER OF THE DAY. PRAYERS IN ABSENTIA

The Fatima Prayers

My God, I believe, I adore, I trust and I love Thee; and I beg pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not trust, and do not love Thee.
(repeat the above 3 times then bow your head in reciting the following:)

O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most Precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in tabernacles throughout the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference by which He is offended. By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in unison with the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners.

O Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee! My God, my God, I love Thee in the Most Blessed Sacrament!

O my Jesus, it is for love of Thee, in reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary and for the conversion of poor sinners.

The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary. And she conceived of the Holy Ghost.
Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Behold the handmaid of the Lord. Be it done unto me according to Thy word. Hail Mary...

And the Word was made flesh. And dwelt among us. Hail Mary...

Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray.
Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts, that we to whom the Incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His resurrection. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Angelus Domini nuntiavit Mariae. Et concepit de Spiritu Sancto.

Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructis ventris tui, Jesus.

Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.

Ecce ancilla Domini. Fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum. Ave Maria...

Et Verbum caro factum est. Et habitavit in nobis. Ave Maria...

Ora pro nobis, sancta Dei Genitrix. Ut digni efficiamur promissionibus Christi.

Oremus.
Amen.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

Sancte Michael Archangele, defende nos in proelio, contra nequitiam et insidias diaboli esto praesidium. Imperet illi Deus, supplices deprecamur: tuque, Princeps militiae caelestis, Satanam aliosque spiritus malignos, qui ad perditionem animarum pervagantur in mundo, divina virtute, in infernum detrude. Amen.

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within Thy wounds, hide me.
Permit me to never be separated from Thee.
From the malicious enemy, defend me.
At the hour of my death, call me
And bid me to come to unto Thee
That with Thy Saints I may praise Thee
Forever and ever. Amen.

Anima Christi, sanctifica me.
Corpus Christi, salva me.
Sanguis Christi, inebria me.
Aqua lateris Christi, lava me.
Passio Christi, conforta me.
O bone Iesu, exaudi me.
Intra Tua vulnera absconde me.
Ne permittas me separari a Te.
Ab hoste maligno defende me.
In hora mortis meae voca me.
Et iube me venire ad Te,
Ut cum Sanctis tuis laudem te
in saecula saeculorum. Amen.

Prayer Before the Crucifix

Behold, O kind and most sweet Jesus, I cast myself upon my knees in Thy sight, and with the most fervent desire of my soul I pray and beseech Thee that Thou wouldst fix deep within my heart lively sentiments of Faith, Hope and Charity, with true repentance for my sins, and a firm purpose of amendment, whilst with deep affection and grief of soul I ponder within myself and mentally contemplate Thy five most precious Wounds; having before my eyes the words which David in prophesy spoke concerning Thee, O Good Jesus: "They have pierced My hands and My feet; they have numbered all My bones."

Plenary Indulgence, Condition:
  • Confession
  • Communion
  • One Our Father
  • One Hail Mary
  • One Glory be...
Pope Pius IX, July 31, 1858

As much as we hate to beg, we have no choice. If you have benefited in anyway from what we have published, we humbly ask your help to keep this publication on line. We know that so many of our readers are unable to assist at a true traditional Latin Mass because of where they live and use the daily liturgy we publish to gain the efficacious graces possible through their prayers at home. If you have not donated before, isn't it only right and proper to donate now? Whatever you can afford will be greatly appreciated. Just click the button below or send a check/money order to the address below. We are a bonafide non-profit 501c(3) religious association and all donations are tax-deductible. Whatever you would have contributed toward any bloated political campaigns or thrown away in the conciliar collection plates that only goes to covering up the sins of its presbyters and false primates while destroying all semblence of Catholicism, why not earmark it for SANCTUS/DailyCatholic? After all, shouldn't we all take St. Paul's strong counsel in 2 Thessalonians 2: 14 to heart and "stand firm, and hold the traditions which you have learned"?
