NOVENA for the the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe (guadanov.htm)

From December 4 to December 12

NOVENA leading up to the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of the Americas, Patroness of the Unborn and Miraculous Conversions

From December 4 to December 12
from Liturgical Novenas and Triduums by Father Lawrence G. Lovasik

The miraculous Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Gospel in picture form. She is the Immaculate Conception, as the Apocalypse describes, "a woman clothed in the sun, with the moon at her feet." Those who saw it realized immediately she is greater than the sun, moon, stars which they had worshipped as gods. For people today in what is called the "New Age" she is also a sign not to worship the "forces" of nature. But she herself is not a goddess. She has her hands folded in prayer, her eyes looking down to humility. To whom is she praying? The clue is in the brooch under her neck. It has a small cross. But she is not only praying to God, she has God within her to the peoples of the Americas. You can see the compassion in the face of the Blessed Virgin. Hearing her tender message and gazing on this picture lesson of Catholicism, it is easy to understand that the Mother of Jesus is our Mother also!
Our Lady of Guadalupe, Madonna of the Americas, Patroness of the Unborn, pray for us!

Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe

Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mystical Rose, make intercession for Holy Mother Church, help all those who invoke thee in their necessities, and since thou art the ever Virgin Mary and Mother of the true God, obtain for us from thy most holy Son the grace of keeping our Faith, sweet hope in the midst of the bitterness of life, burning charity and the precious gift of final perseverance. Amen

300 days indulgence

Our Lady of Guadalupe, according to thy message in Mexico I venerate thee as the Virgin Mother of the true God for whom we live, the Creator of all the world, Maker of Heaven and earth. In spirit I kneel before thy most holy image which thou didst miraculously imprint upon the cloak of the humble and obedient Indian Juan Diego, and with the faith of the countless numbers of pilgrims who visit thy shrine, I beg thee for this favor:

[Mention your request].

Remember, O Immaculate Virgin, the words thou hast spoken to thy devout and humble, yet hesitant client: "I am a merciful mother to thee and to all thy people who love me and trust in me and invoke my help. I listen to their lamentations and solace all their sorrows and sufferings." I beg thee to be a merciful mother to me, because I sincerely love thee and trust in thee and invoke thy help. I entreat thee, our Lady of Guadalupe, to grant my request, if this should be the will of God, in order that I may bear witness to thy love, thy compassion, thy help and protection. Do not forsake me in my needs.

Recite three Hail Mary's and after each:
"Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us"

Say this novena nine times a day for the nine days leading to Our Lady's feast. The nine times per day do not have to be immediately in succession but can be said throughout the day, provided one keeps a continual spirit of prayer without interruption of secular things.
