Let Mary Lead the Way
"For the Church, which often feels the weight of history and the siege of evil, the Mother of Christ is the luminous emblem of humanity redeemed and enveloped in saving grace."
That was the heart of Pope John Paul II's General Papal Audience this past Wednesday in Paul VI Hall as reported by the ZENIT News Agency. Speaking in the Paul VI Auditorium, the Holy Father addressed a topic characterized by mystical overtones. The book he quoted most often was the Apocalypse. He described the struggle between good and evil, represented by the woman who gives birth to a son, and the raging dragon bent on destroying them. Both against the Church, and the Mother, of which she is a figure, "is unleashed the monstrous devastating energy of violence, falsehood and injustice," the Pontiff said.

Bishop McGrath: We implore you to call California Congresswoman Anna Eshoo to task for her pro-abortion stance.
Today's "Herod's Hero" is the Democratic Congresswoman from the 14th District in California Representative Anna Eshoo. We call on her to repent and for her shepherd in the Diocese of San Jose Bishop Patrick J. McGrath along with Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, Shepherd of the nation's capitol see, to issue the ultimatum of the "Bell, Book, and Candle" if Congresswoman Eshoo will not hear even the Church. We beg of you, dear Bishops, to stand up for the Roman Catholic Church, to exact the discipline all Catholics are expected to follow. By Eshoo's pro-abortion record during her first term in the House, she has shown a disdain for Catholic doctrine and has been a willing accomplice to satan. We implore her to amend her ways, to turn away from embracing the pro-abort stance with no mercy for the lives of millions of unborn. By her actions as a 'Catholic' she is guilty of being an accomplice to murder through her promotion, voting record and legislation of pro-abortion measures. For another betrayer who seeks to perpetuate the culture of death and slay the innocents, see HEROD'S HEROES
Feedback on our Open Letter to the Bishops of America
We thought we would share some of the feedback we've received from our Ash Wednesday editorial An Open Letter to the Bishops of America. The response has been overwhelmingly supportive with 81 positive and 3 negative replies to date. In the spirit of this "take it with a grain of salt" column we publish both sides in order to be, as a major news network says, "fair and balanced." For a sampling of the readers' views, see Feedback
Vatican Radio in Jeopardy!
Ultimatum given to Holy See to shut down or else as Italian Minister makes unproven claim of cancer from antennas
If it wasn't such a ridiculous claim we could laugh about it, but the Environmental Minister of Italy is deadly serious in accusing the Vatican of emitting electromagnetic contamination however on March 13, a group of scientists sent a letter to the Italian president denouncing a campaign of disinformation about the Vatican Radio antennas. They maintained that the voice of science was being "trampled" by political interests and that there is no scientific evidence to back the outrageous claims of the antennas causing cancer.

UNFPA out to eliminate rather than help victims of El Salvador earthquake
Countless disenfranchised people in El Salvador suffering so much from two devastating quakes can't count on the UN to help them with food and water. They're too busy sending abortion kits and birth control pills instead. The gall of this satanic action. This has been verified by
Steven Mosher of the Population Research Institute (PRI) who said, "It seems that the UNFPA never misses an opportunity to try to reduce the population of the Third World."

Cuban communists storm home of devout Catholic to taunt, destroy and intimidate faithful of Cuba
A devout Catholic was assaulted, pieces of a destroyed image of Christ crucified pushed in her face as Fidel Castro's communist party has launched a savage attack on the Catholic culture of Cuba, feeling by intimidating the most devout they will scare the rest. Cuba has lived under persecution for 40 years and, because of it, is much better off spiritually than the rich and instant gratification of the U.S. where millions and millions of dollars are being wasted on sterile edifices that pass as churches.

"You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. For the Father also seeks such to worship Him. God is spirit, and they who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth." John 4: 22-24
The Voice of the Disciple
Be glad, O my soul, and give thanks to God for so noble a gift, and so singular a solace left thee in this vale of tears. For as often as thou renews this mystery and receives the body of Christ, so often art thou dealing with the work of thy redemption, and are made partaker of all the merits of Christ.
For the love of Christ never grows less, and the greatness of his propitiation is never exhausted.

Election of the Syrian Pope who began the French Connection
Today is the 1,270th anniversary of the election of Pope Saint Gregory III as the 90th successor of Peter on this date in 731 A.D. This Syrian-born Vicar of Christ would die ten years and ten days later on March 28, 741. His pontificate is best remembered for his seeking the help of Charles the Hammer, king of the Franks against the Lombards. From this fact would be derived the title of "Most Christian" assumed by the monarchs of France ever since. During his Gregory's reign he also earmarked charitable donations to the Holy See as "Peter's Pence." and this term has held since then. America is spoiled because she expects too much!
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the words of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen have been known to launch a thousand images in one's mind, one of the ways this late luminary did so much to evangelize the faith. Because of the urgency of the times and because few there are today who possess the wisdom, simplicity and insight than the late Archbishop who touched millions, we are bringing you daily gems from his writings. The good bishop makes it so simple that we have dubbed this daily series: "SIMPLY SHEEN".
"The discontent is far greater among the over-privileged than the underprivileged. The rich need the psychoanalysts more than the poor. Few European minds cracked under two wars. Many American minds have. The first learned not to expect anything. This lesson America has yet to learn."
