And on the second day the issue of ecumenism and the changing the papacy raises its inevitable head
Despite Cardinal Kasper's urgings to steamroll this issue, and the promptings of others, Consistory turns down Cardinal Martini's suggestion of Vatican III. Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger once again advises caution as second day of Consistory closes with many of the newer cardinals speaking out.
It was inevitable. Aided by Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor's suggestion to hold a pan-Christian assembly, Cardinal Walter Kasper pounced on the idea in pushing for ecumenism as the "theme of the times." That followed with a discussion on the Eastern Churches and other denominations and how they could accept the Papacy. Many expressed that it would have to change to be palatable with other faiths. Some suggested perhaps those faiths outside the Church are having difficulties because their own disciplines are not in line with Christ doctrine in so far as abortion, homosexuality, female priests, and divorce are concerned. Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger, Archibshop of Paris, who set the tone so reverently on Monday, reminded all again of the Church as the spouse of Christ and not to jump into these new vistas too quickly. Media playing up Papabile of eligible Red-hats as Consistory continues

While the Consistory heads into its third day, media from around the world are giving their take on what they think will evolve from this 20 hour confab among the cardinals. We present two stories which speculate on various cardinals who might be Papabile - papal material, so to speak, as well as views from both conservatives and liberals on what they think will result from this Extraordinary Consistory. It's interesting to see all sides to understand the mindset and how politics still plays such a pivotal point, although those who want to maintain the purity of the Holy Office would rather keep it on a more ethereal level and leave it to the Holy Spirit when God deigns it's time to elect the next Roman Pontiff. An Urgent Plea to Pope John Paul II, 264th Successor of Peter: Please do not change the Papacy as the modernists would want, but leave it intact as Christ instructed in Matthew 16: 17-19.

In concert with the on-going Extraordinary Consistory of Cardinals convened by Pope John Paul II, we present third part of an Urgent Plea to His Holiness not to change the Papacy no matter how much pressure is put on him. We urge you to read it with a discerning heart and, during these Rogation Days, pray that the Holy Spirit will guide you in reading this respectful, but honest plea, and guide the Princes of the Church gathering in Rome, and guide the Keeper of the Keys to keep intact the Primacy of Peter. This is published with permission. It was compiled by Atila Sinke Guimarăes, Michael J. Matt, Dr. Marian Horvat and John Vennari. Guimarăes, a Brazilian scholar, has been researching this subject matter for twenty years and knows whereof he speaks. The authors back everything up with undeniable truths in their documentation. They really don't get it! How sad! The question is why?

"What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, but suffers the loss of his soul?"

" I had spent about 15 minutes on the phone with this so-called Catholic and it was obvious that nothing was going to sway him from his views -- almost as if someone had a gun to his head and said, “do not be confused by the truth. Do not respect the Doctrine of the Catholic Church, or else.' But, of course there was no gun to his head, but there was something worse -- satan was in his head. How else can one explain, why a person brought up a Catholic, sees no evil in the killing of God’s precious children?"
Today, Dr. Frank Joseph shares his own experiences and frustrations in trying to talk with those who claim to be Catholic and yet espouse the "pro-choice" ideology. They really don't get it. Two such examples were odyssies Dr. Frank took by phone to two pro-abort Congressman we had exposed previously - Frank Pallone of New Jersey and David Obey of Wisconsin. This is just a microcosm of what he has discovered that they are out to lunch somewhere and have rationalized their actions and beliefs, truly believing they're doing no wrong and they know better. Why don't you think they get it? For his column, The depth of warped logic! , see PRO LIFE PRESCRIPTIONS

Bishop Dale Melczek: We implore you to call Indiana Congressman Peter Visclosky to task for his fence-sitting, sorrowful pro-abort stance.

Today's Herod's Hero is the Democratic Representative in the United States House from Indiana's 1st District, the Honorable Peter J. Visclosky. There's nothing honorable about how he, as a 'Catholic,' has promoted the culture of death. We call on him to repent and for his Bishop in Gary Bishop Dale Melczek along with Visclosky's shepherd in Washington D.C. Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, to issue the ultimatum of the "Bell, Book, and Candle" if he will not hear even the Church. We beg of the Bishops, to stand up for the Roman Catholic Church, to exact the discipline all Catholics are expected to follow. By Visclosky's sorrowful 75% pro-abortion record during 9 terms in the House, he has shown a an alarming consistency to turn away from God by showing total disdain for Catholic doctrine and being a willing accomplice to satan. We implore Mr. Visclosky to amend his ways, to turn away from embracing the pro-abort stance with no mercy for the lives of millions of unborn. For another betrayer who seeks to perpetuate the culture of death and slay the innocents, see HEROD'S HEROES

America is a nation of the need for visual recognition. Only when they truly see the vile ugliness of abortion will they wake up and realize the true Holocaust of the Womb!
" We live in a visual culture. Much of the erosion of support for late-term abortions can be traced to the partial-birth abortion controversy. The visual reality of this procedure, performed in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, has been presented in the halls of Congress and on national TV by means of medically accurate diagrams. Moreover, actual photos of aborted babies are, for the most part, of babies in these same time frames -- and again, most Americans already oppose abortion at those times, and most abortions take place before that period."
Today, Father Frank Pavone pinpoints the myth that has kept the scales over the eyes of the vast majority of Americans while the scales of justice are badly balanced against the innocent preborns primarily because our nation's conscience has not been tweaked enough. While so many cry horror at the holocaust in Germany, they are indifferent to a Holocaust far, far, far greater and more vile - the Holocaust of the Womb. Father asks what will it take? Perhaps being more graphic in getting the truth out so Americans wake up! For his column, The Persistent Myth see PRO LIFE PRESCRIPTIONS

Prayer of Rogation - Third Day

O God, the Creator and Redeemer of all the faithful, give to the souls of Thy servants departed the remission of all their sins: that through devout supplications they may obtain the pardon which they have always desired. Direct, we beseech Thee, O Lord, our actions by Thy holy inspirations, and carry them on by Thy gracious assistance: that every prayer and work of ours may begin always from Thee, and through Thee be happily ended. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. Treasury of Novenas (Indulgence of 300 Days)
"Many things yet I have to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. But when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will teach you all the truth. For He will not speak on His Own Authority, but whatever He will hear He will speak, and the things that are to come He will declare to you. He will glorify Me, because He will receive of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine." John 16: 12-15

St. Joan of Arc The Maid of Orleans is muddied and bloodied, but not bowed even as the Church Prelates betrayed her to the English

On this date 571 years ago in 1430 Saint Joan of Arc, known as the Maid of Orleans, was captured by the Burgundians after a vicious battle in trying to defend her beloved France. Through politics and chicanery, she was handed over to the English who were the enemy of the French at that time and which would prove the beginning of her human downfall, but the beginning also of her rise to holiness in defending her Faith and not being dissuaded from the will of God. For this she would be burned at the stake under the charges she was a heretic, but as it was later proven, she was anything but a heretic and for her martyrdom the Church raised her to sainthood. Grace is the saving factor!

"The good recover peace of soul; the evil have to be satisfied with peace of mind. The explanation of this phenomenon is that the good have another principle of action in them than the evil. The evil are guided solely by the thought either of the satisfaction of the flesh or the spirit and that this world is all. But the good have another principle in them, entirely above nature, which is called grace, and by it they are united to God. This principle of grace is always rising up against their sin and generally triumphs over it with the slightest cooperation of the will."
