Only by living the Gospel will Mary's Immaculate Heart triumph sooner
Meditative Lessons on the Glorious Mysteries
In the third part of Chapter 13: The Ascension of Jesus! the Blessed Mother imparts in her meditation how we reflect our lives in the actions of those who surrounded Jesus at the moment of His Ascension into Heaven. In order for us to someday join Him we all need to be aligned with the Holy Spirit Who Our Lord left to us to guide and direct us. These meditative lessons, imparted by Our Lady to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart after Pentecost 1993, are meant to inspire and prompt a greater understanding of the Glorious Mysteries. Viva Cinco de Mayo!
Today is Cinco de Mayo, when the sounds of mariachis and castanets during Mass and the aroma of fresh tortillas wafting in from outside signals that this day is like no other to the faithful of Mexican descent. Cinco de Mayo is the day Mexico celebrates their independence from France. The best thing about this is that both Mexico and France retained their Catholicity.
The Blood of the Martyrs is the Seed of Christianity
We continue today with the abridged History of the Mass and Holy Mother Church over a 2000 year span called 2000 YEAR VOYAGE ON THE BARQUE OF PETER. Today we continue to bring you that period known in Church annals as the persecution years in Rome and yet the Church flourished, undaunted in her quest to fulfill what Christ had asked of His Disciples to "Go and preach the Gospel to all nations." PRAYERS & DEVOTION
The Church originally celebrated the feast of Pope Saint Pius V on this date. In his honor we present a special prayer from My Daily Prayer published by the Confraternity of the Precious Blood:
O God, Who, in order to crush the enemies of Thy Church and to restore Divine worship, didst vouchsafe to call Blessed Pius to the Supreme Pontificate, grant that we may be defended by his protection, and may so adhere to Thy service that overcoming all the snares of the enemy, we may rejoice in perpetual peace. Amen.
SIMPLY SHEEN: Be willing to lay bare the truths
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the words of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen have been known to launch a thousand images in one's mind, one of the ways this late luminary did so much to evangelize the faith. Because of the urgency of the times and because few there are today who possess the wisdom, simplicity and insight than the late Archbishop who touched millions, we are bringing you daily gems from his writings. The good bishop makes it so simple that we have dubbed this daily series: "SIMPLY SHEEN".
"Non-conformity with the mass mind can be expected to bring down upon the offender's head opposition and ridicule. Second, those who discover a truth must stand naked before the uplifted stroke of its duties or else take up the cross that it imposes."
Events Today in Church History
On this date in 1045, Pope Gregory VI became the 148th successor of Peter, succeeding Benedict IX who was forced to abdicate. To Gregory is attributed the forming of the first Pontifical Army. "Call out to Me in humility and I will answer. Beware of spiritual pride, lest you forget the words and signs I am giving to you to warn you."
Those words come from Our Lord on June 15, 1994 which He imparted to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart in Message #507 imploring His children to come to Him humbly and sincere and knock and He shall open the door to His Heart wide. He beseeches all to remain faithful to Him and His Vicar on earth. His Blessed Mother Mary follows her Divine Son's Message four days later on Father's Day June 19 in which Our Lady reminds the fathers of their responsibilities in the Sacrament of Matrimony and to emulate her chaste earthly spouse Joseph

One year after tragic Swiss Guard shooting, the elite Vatican corps demonstrate a remarkable resurgence
Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of the tragic shooting of Commandant-elect Alois Estermann and his wife by fellow Swiss Guard member Cedric Tornay inside the walls of Vatican City, a crime that shocked the world and all of Christendom. But the commandant who the Holy Father named to replace Estermann, Colonel Segmuller is optimistic about the new morale within the corps and that the period of mourning is now officially over. Pope greets Canadian bishops during ad limina, calls for shepherds to foster "cities of God"
A group of Canadian Bishops from Ontario are in Rome for their ad limina visit and the Holy Father emphasized to them the need to evangelize the urban culture working from the inner city on out in striving to form "cities of God" where neighbors care for each other rather than the impersonal way of life today. More crosses being placed outside Auschwitz in total defiance of bishops order
It was one thing to show devotion and dedication to those who died for the faith at Auschwitz by planting temporary crosses in their memory near the cross placed there to commemorate the Pope's visit there, but after the Polish government turned it over to the Polish bishops and they ruled that the crosses must go, save for the Holy Father's, now it is flat out disobedience and will not bear good fruit. In fact it can only hurt the Catholic cause there and with the Jewish people who have demanded all crosses be removed from near this shrine they consider exclusively Jewish. After Jesuits' problems in Russia, other Religious Orders are looking into loopholes to maintain their mission in Russia
In football it's called the "end around," in baseball "the squeeze play" and in relgious life when it deals with unreasonable politics such as Russia is wielding it is called "surviving" as Orders scramble to find loopholes that will allow them to continue their apostolates in Russia in hopes they will not run into the roadblocks the Society of Jesus did recently when they played everything above board and were rejected.
