God has the perfect game plan!

Gridiron widows are bemoaning the fact that today marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the NFL when Pudge Heffelfinger became the first professional football player to don the pads with paycheck in hand to play for the Allegheny Athletic Association. Ever since, the Lord's Day has never been the same and church attendance has diminished as the stadia numbers have swelled. To the NFL that may be good news, but as for priorities, well we've all sort of been discombobulated during the fall every year and families are the weaker for it. The pigskin clarion is exciting for sports enthusiasts, but the lambskin-clad Saint John the Baptist's message announcing the Messiah and the subsequent events that compose the New Testament and the Traditions handed down are more exciting when we truly psyche ourselves in preparing for His Second Coming. God has the perfect "Game Plan," revealed through Divine Revelation which includes Tradition. Only through the Traditions have we been able to perpetuate all that Jesus wanted to be known. That is the subject of today's installment of the AGE OF MARIAN APPARITIONS in which we continue with Divine Revelation with the importance of Tradition. For installment forty six, click on The Tradition Addition.

The best team in the HFL!*
*Heaven For Life!

While millions may want to emulate their favorite NFL star and wear all the expensive threads with their team emblems, the traditions of the Church encourage us to gird ourselves in the virtues practiced by the saints as role models to follow in our drive towards our ultimate goal line: Heaven. Saint Josaphat, today's saint of the day, and Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, tomorrow's featured saint in the liturgy of the day, are two excellent saints to pattern our lives after. To read about them as well as the readings for the day and prepare for Holy Mass tomorrow, click on LITURGY OF THE DAY.

PRAYER & DEVOTION
While there are many heroes marketed by the NFL, both the above saints demonstrated something even more heroic: Heroic acts of charity. To aid all, we present the
HEROIC ACT OF CHARITY:
My God, for Your greater glory, in union with the merits of Jesus and Mary, I offer and surrender the satisfactory value of all the good I will do, and all the suffrages I will receive after my death, for the holy souls in purgatory. Dispose of everything according to Your divine will. Amen.

Hail Mary
As many clamor for "sudden-death" in the violent world of the NFL, Christ offers life - life everlasting and the promise of His Second Coming by sending His Blessed Mother. This is brought to light in our A CALL TO PEACE section where author Wilmott G. Brown brings us his expertly researched work "The Significance of Lourdes, Fatima, and Medjugorje as explained in Scripture", citing the relevance of Sacred Scripture to authenticate Our Lady's visits to her special Oasis of Peace in Bosnia and how all she says fulfills all that has been prophesied by the Word. Click on "In the Evening and in the Spirit of Elijah" - part six to further understand the correlation between Public Revelation and private revelation. Below is this month's message from the Mother of God to the world:.

Medjugorje Monthly Message
October 25th Message

The GospaDear children: Also, today I am with you and I call all of you to renew yourselves by living my messages. Little children, may prayer be life for you and may you be an example to others. Little children, I desire for you to become carriers of Peace and of God's Joy to today's world without peace. That is why, little children, pray, pray, pray! I am with you and I bless you with my motherly peace. Thank you for having responded to my call!

"...the Bread that I will give is My flesh for the life of the world."

John 6: 52

When it's fourth and long, we don't have to punt when we have the greatest playbook available to lead us for big yardage in our drive toward the ultimate victory. The playbook is the Catechism of the Catholic Church and it works against all defenses thrown at us. We continue with the subject of the Holy Eucharist in our catechesis, bringing you what the Church has said in both the new Catechism of the Catholic Church and the old Baltimore Catechism with capsule paragraphs to contemplate on without ingesting too much information. HEADLINES:
Bishops getting down to the business of righting the Church in America
Is it possible the bishops are finally getting the message from the faithful? They are tuning in to both the conscience of Church teaching and the needs of Catholics crying out for help. They even are considering the idea of returning to the pre-Vatican II days of abstaining from meat on Fridays and other changes in hopes of fending off the devastating dirge of the "culture of death." For details on this and other proposals during the Bishop's biannual National Conference of Catholic Bishops meeting in Washington, D.C., click on Bishops to read more.
Memo from a pro-life congress to pro-abort Bill Clinton on his "fast-track" initiative: Not so fast!
The president of the United States has met the enemy and it is the chief executive. That's the message Congress is sending Bill Clinton in refusing to rubber stamp his "fast-track" trade initiative. If he doesn't compromise, he'll pay the consequences when Congress drastically cuts his budget earmarked for international and United Nations interests. His promises to foreign powers that he will have the money available is running into a huge roadblock thanks to a large contingent of pro-life senators who are holding the president's prize program hostage. If Cardinal O'Connor has his way, Dorothy Day will have her day!
On the eve of celebrating the accomplishments of one Catholic woman - Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini - who accomplished so much for America, another woman is strongly being considered for the same honor as Mother Cabrini: sainthood. That is the goal of New York Cardinal John O'Connor who is going to campaign for the woman who cofounded the Catholic Worker Movement midway through the first part of this century in the Cardinal's city. A movie has been made on Dorothy Day and now the greatest honor is in the offing: sainthood in the Church. Click on Dorothy Day
