KosovoPray for Peace in Kosovo     DAY 77: Even there has been a breakthough in the peace process, differences still exist between NATO and Serbia and thus, peace is not at hand yet and the bombing continues. Therefore, please continue your prayers for those embroiled in the bitter war in the Balkans on both sides, especially the innocent civilians caught in the crossfire of hate and deception

Countdown to the Millennium

Events in Church History
Pope Julius II
On this date in 1504 the Renaissance master Michelangelo Buonorotti completes his masterpiece "David" and commissions it to be set in the Plaza in Florence where it catches the attention of Pope Julius II who summoned him to Rome to work on a special project called the Sistine Chapel and the rest, as they say, is history. Year of God the Father
205 and counting,
hoping and praying...

Tying in with today's editorial, we present the prayer composed by Pope Leo XIII - Prayer to Saint Michael:

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in the day of battle; be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray: and do thou, Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God thrust down into hell satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Medjugorje Monthly Message for MAY 25th

The Gospa's message for May     Dear children! Also today I call you to convert and to more firmly believe in God. Children, you seek peace and pray in different ways, but you have not yet given your hearts to God for Him to fill them with His love. So, I am with you to teach you and to bring you closer to the love of God. If you love God above all else, it will be easy for you to pray and to open your hearts to Him. Thank you for having responded to my call. For more on Medjugorje, click on MEDJUGORJE AND MORE

While the Holy Spirit was present at Vatican II, He is sorely missing in the "spirit of Vatican II"!!!
In today's commentary we examine just a few of the changes made in our Liturgy over the years and ask a simple question: Why? In looking back on what has been wrought by ICEL and the "spirit of Vatican II" proponents, we find a dearth of good fruits. In fact none at all because a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. The tree known as the "spirit of Vatican II" often tries to imitate the good tree which was the actual Council itself in which the Sanctifier - the Holy Spirit was truly present. But the great imposter which has muscled into dioceses and parishes today is the bad tree and the fruits, over the past thirty years, have said volumes in the lack of good fruits. • Pope Saint Pius V Whatever happened to the "forever" clause stipulated by Pope Saint Pius V in his encyclical Quo Primum on the Liturgy of the Mass?
In conjunction with our commentary above, we bring you the full text of the historical encyclical published by Pope Saint Pius V who decreed and commanded that the Mass as it was determined at the Council of Trent would be said "in perpetuity, " "forever" and that furthermore, besides commanding that his decree would be obeyed forever, not just during his tenure as Pope, but forever through all succeeding Popes and that "Should any person venture to do so [disobey his decree], let him understand that he will incur the wrath of Almighty God and of the blessed Apostles Peter and Paul." Have some who pushed the "spirit of Vatican II" incurred the Almighty's wrath? This encyclical gives pause to think about it. For this full encyclical from the 225th successor of Peter and the only one to be canonized up until Pope Saint Pius X, click on ECCLESIAL ECHOES.

Famous quotes of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen The object is to serve
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the words of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen have been known to launch a thousand images in one's mind, one of the ways this late luminary did so much to evangelize the faith. Because of the urgency of the times and because few there are today who possess the wisdom, simplicity and insight than the late Archbishop who touched millions, we are bringing you daily gems from his writings. The good bishop makes it so simple that we have dubbed this daily series: "SIMPLY SHEEN".

"In doing good, everything in God's universe gets good. Service of others is the highest service of self, and the best way for any man to grow in grace is to move forward in helpfulness."

Today is the Tenth Tuesday in Ordinary Time with tomorrow the Tenth Wednesday and Feast of Saint Ephrem of Syria, Deacon and Doctor of the Church. For the readings, liturgies, meditations and vignettes on this saint, click on DAILY LITURGY.

Immaculate and Sorrowful Heart of Mary Sacred and Merciful Heart of Jesus "If My True Church will do as I ask, then the Hour of Justice shall be mitigated, for I will send My Archangel Michael to help all who profess My name with sincere and contrite hearts."
Those words were spoken by the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Message #546 on September 28, 1994 to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart, in which Our Lord points to the Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel and calls all His children to return to the time when we prayed to him regularly after Holy Mass. Jesus promises that if His faithful ones in His One, True Church heed His will the chastisements will be mitigated and St. Michael, the "Defender of God" will be there for us to fend off the devil in all circumstances. Christ's Blessed Mother prefaces her Divine Son's words four days prior with a special reminder to reread the Book of the Prophets, especially Isaiah and Daniel because the prophets speak of our times - the end times. Clinton has gone too far with blatant disregard for Catholic concerns in Luxembourg, pulls sneaky one by railroading in homosexual anti-Catholic bigot Hormel to foreign post
Living up to his moniker "Slick Willie," Bill Clinton waited for a loophole to bypass senate approval and personally appoint avowed homosexual heir James Hormel to the post of ambassador to the tiny country of Luxembourg which is 96% Catholic with 402,000 out of a total population of 419,000 expressing loyalty to Rome. Clinton's criminal action of appointing a proven anti-Catholic to a Catholic country is paramount, according to the head of a family pro-life organization, of appointing "Larry Flynt as ambassador to the Vatican." Please don't give this ammoral head of state any ideas. For more, click on Embassy of embarassment

Despite releasing five yesterday, Colombian NLA guerrillas still hold over 75 hostages as a quarter of a million march in the streets of Cali to protest
A drop in the bucket. That is the impression left on Colombian and Church officials after the National Liberation Army released five hostages taken from a Cali church during Holy Mass on Trinity Sunday. Over a quarter of a million Protesters marched in demanding the release of all the hostages and displayed signs as they chanted "No mas" in calling for an end to this nonsense. Australian Catholics crying over spilled beer ads that are salient and sacrilegious
Australia     While the brand "Fosters" may be advertised as being Australian for beer, the Tooheys brand is Australian for bitter controversy in lieu of an ad running on Sydney networks that mocks the Church with sacrilegious spots on the Sacrament of Penance. Cardinal Edward Clancy spoke out strongly against the ad campaign that not only condones sins of the flesh, but mocks the seal of Confession. The cardinal has called for a nationwide boycott to hit Tooheys where it hurts and cripple any other attempts to promote in that secular, sacrilegious vein. Holy Father greatly disheartened by breakdown of peace accord
The Holy Father, during his pilgrimage to Poland, expressed great distress and sadness at the breakdown in peace talks between Serbia and NATO forces as bombing resumed Sunday. Sadly what was greatly missing during the weekend talks was what the Pope had called for: human dignity. But with NATO making demands and the Yugoslavs, with their backs to the wall, both parties balked, blaming the other with no progress as pride took over, much to the chagrin of the humble Sovereign Pontiff.
