Saints Simon and Jude

O God, Who, through Thy blessed Apostles Simon and Jude, hast brought us to the knowledge of Thy name, grant that we may celebrate their everlasting glory by advancing in good works, and that we may advance in good works by celebrating their glory. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.

FEATURED IN TODAY'S ISSUE:

On the BattleLine
Atila Sinke Guimar„es, a foremost authority on the causes and effects of Vatican II, weighs in with what the Vatican's rejection of the U.S. Bishops' nebulous proposal Charter for the Protection of Children last June means. The media and public are up in arms. Accusations are flying left and right as the word 'cover-up' runs rampant throughout the lexicons of so many. Atila breaks it down succinctly to show what is really going on: "the Vatican is not working to defend the whole of the Church, but to protect those who are destroying her honor and her structure." He pinpoints the obvious through syllogistic arguments that many Catholics don't see through all the smoke and mirrors as he explains in his column this week, The Common Good and the Criminal.
Christ or chaos
Today Dr. Thomas Droleskey identifies the chicanery of Church officials who hide where the real problems lie that have caused the sex abuse scandals throughout the world, especially in the United States. Like the host of the 50's quiz show You Bet Your Life, Groucho Marx, the cigar-chomping 'dirty old man' who was known for his double-entendres, the Church is today too populated with men like this who hold the keys, locking out the truth and hiding the true intent, making decisions in smoke-of-satan-filled-rooms without no regard for consequences to their flocks and to God. So while Catholics buy the spin and wait for the 'duck' to drop down with the secret word that they think will automatically make the problems disappear and they'll win their salvation rather than working for it by carrying their daily cross, the bishops raise their eyebrows in disdain of those who see through their charade...and the pope just sits there without acknowledging to his flock that the real problem is sodomy. Because of that, lives are being lost. The agenda of today's church leaders is a real gamble with souls as Tom illustrates in You Bet Your Life!.
"Qui legit, intelligat"
Today we are bringing you Father's sermon for the 23rd Sunday After Pentecost. In it Father asks if we have the faith of the woman of the Gospel who needed only to touch the hem of Our Lord's garment. Do we have the courage to step out in a world that seeks signs and wonders and merely place all our hopes and faith on One Whose principles and teachings are so dismisssed today? Do we have the fortitude to follow the will of God as obedient servants in imitation of Christ? Or will we cower in disobedience as Adam and Eve did, and follow our own fallen nature in obedience to the one who imprisons us in sin - satan? The decision is up to us for God has endowed each with a free will to choose to be obedient or disobedient. If we choose the latter, than we must also accept the consequences. This Father points out in his homily The Obedient Servant of God.
Doctors of the Church
The fifteenth Doctor in this chronological series on the Doctors of the Church is today regarded as the "Patron Saint of the Internet." Needless to say, he knew nothing of the fiber-optic world or the world wide web, but the truths he spread will continue long after high technology has become obsolete for his domain was Christ's and he planted the seeds of the uncompromising Faith in his beloved Spain where he stifled heresy and converted the Arians. He was Saint Isidore of Seville.
Liturgy of the Saints
Today is the Double of the Second Class Feast of Saints Simon and Jude, hand-picked to be Our Lord's chosen Apostles. Simon was the son of Mary of Cleophas. Jude is beloved by Catholics everywhere as the saint to seek intercession from; he is the Patron Saint of Hopeless Cases and in these days, when so much seems hopeless, it is comforting to know that the holy Jude is there to help us just for the asking. For more, see Saints Simon and Jude.
The Rosary of Mary: our most powerful weapon. October is Our Lady's month, the month of the Holy Rosary. It is also the month we remember her victory for all of Christendom at Lepanto and the 85th Anniversary of the final apparition at Fatima, the day the sun danced. Truly October is Our Lady's time, the month of the Holy Rosary. Pray for the unborn and that abortion will not be compromised by the political expediency of the times where misguided prelates mistakenly join the Death Penalty with the Abortion issue. The Catholic Church condemns abortion, not capital punishment. Pray that the flocks will not be further deceived. Click on the Rosary button to recite the full Rosary in either English or Latin.

Election Reflections
With the issue of abortion as the primary, major and only issue as far as Catholics are concerned, Mario Derksen lays out exactly what every Catholic - regardless of their affiliation to a political party - MUST do! When it comes to any candidate, there is only one issue!!! You MUST vote for the one who is the most pro-life. If neither are, DON'T VOTE for either one! To vote for a known pro-abort candidate, whether you think so or not, is truly being an accomplice to murder. That is a mortal sin. If you don't believe so, read his article and see the obvious, graphic "Holocaust of the Womb" and ask yourself if you won't be held accountable to God for enabling such horror by your vote?!! Mario explains quite clearly and graphically honest in his feature "Election Reflections" which we invite you to read at his Catholic Insights site in his column Election Reflections

Pro Life Prescriptions
Wednesday, Dr. Frank Joseph addressed an open letter to the bishops of the United States. Whether they read it or not, the truths and consequences inherent in his column illustrate only too well how far our shepherds have fallen and why Roe v. Wade still rules the roost in America. In the spirit of St. Teresa of Avila, Dr. Frank gets down to basics and respectfully warns the bishops that if they don't alert their flocks to the imminent dangers of condoning terrorism in the womb by voting for pro-abort candidates, the everlasting terror of hell may await not only those who refuse to obey God's laws, but those who administer them as well. What good are the Canons and tenets of the Faith if those entrusted to uphold the unchangeable teachings of the Church are more fearful of offending the enemies of God rather than upholding God's holy laws? He lovingly, but firmly emphasizes to them that if they do not do something, "let the blood of the innocents be on your hands and heads." Strong words that are needed to roust these lackards off their duffs as he entreats the bishops to truly be the successors of the apostles in his column A Final Warning Plea to the Bishops
