The Illumination of the soul can be an eye-opener where one can either suffer in self-pity or rejoice in discovering the truth and heeding it in total, unconditional love for God

Love pours forth at Lourdes like a great volcano of graces Military personel from several nations hold aloft incense during Benediction at St. Pius X Basilica The Bishop blesses the multitude gathered for Benediction Cyndi and son Kellin watch in awe

In a Lourdes underground cavern basilica the size of a football field, the dark cave of the soul is enlightened by eternal truths

Symphony of SufferingCyndi Cain    In her fourth installment on her journey to Lourdes, Cyndi Cain shares her experiences during Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament in the cavernous, underground modern Basilica of Saint Pius X at Lourdes during Military Week in May this year as she describes the most meaningful and reverent devotion she had ever attended. She shares the mystical wonders that occurred in her heart and soul during this time as she experienced an "illumination of the soul," truly seeing herself as God sees her. Because of this interior vision, she was at first shocked, and for a split second hopeless in her suffering, but then realized the great gift she had received for God was opening her consciousness to overcome the assumptions of her subconsciousness, something that we all possess and so easily misread. You might say, she was privileged to receive the Warning ahead of time, the same experience prophesied at Garabandal which we can anticipate when it occurs worldwide in God's Time. We call it a "dress rehearsal" for the Last Judgment, and though it can be shocking as Cyndi relates, it shows His tremendous Mercy and Love for us all. All we need to do is allow that Light to enlighten our darkened souls and hardened hearts. For her column, Lourdes' Love Pours Forth in Illumination, see SYMPHONY OF SUFFERING.

Too often those who seek to forge the "spirit of Vatican II" on others leave out the fulness of the Holy Spirit by omitting the true essence of the Second Vatican Council documents

Pat Ludwa brightens the hopes of loyal Catholics with his enlightening take on the value of the excellent document Lumen Gentium - "The Light of the Nations" which, in effect, is the heart and soul of Vatican II. Yet, those who would clamor the most for change and try to forge the insidious "spirit of Vatican II" totally ignore this enlightening inspiration, choosing conveniently to quote constantly from Gaudium et Spes. Pat shows that we cannot have "Joy and Hope" by ignoring the other vital organs of the body of the Council documents. He brings home the point of the necessity of being faithful to the documents as they were intended, not as one might interpret them. He elevates Lumen Gentium, partly written by Pope John Paul II as one of the most complete and a call not to hide our talents under a bushel basket but be a light for the world, illuminated magnificently by the Light of the world, the Light of the Nations - Jesus Christ through His Holy Church. For his column Without Lumen Gentium we extinguish the light of the Holy Spirit , see VIEW FROM THE PEW

Appreciation for the Obligation of Works
Today we continue our series in the search to uncover the wonderful treasures of the Church contained in the great Deposit of Faith. We present the first of a two-part installment on the Obligation of Works as explained in My Catholic Faith as a follow-up to our immediate past installments on the Works of Mercy and how we can best implement these works by carrying out our obligation as loyal Catholics including material alms to further the work of Our Lord and His Holy Church. For part one in the 191st installment, see APPRECIATING THE PRECIOUS GIFT OF OUR FAITH
