DAILY LITURGY for MONDAY and TUESDAY
The bridge between July and August is spanned by the feast of two great saints. On Monday, we celebrate the Feast of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, the holy priest who co-founded the Society of Jesus, better known today as the Jesuits in order to defend the Pope and the teachings of the Church. On Tuesday, we begin this summer month of Mary with the Feast of Saint Alphonsus Liguori, Bishop and Doctor of the Church. August is a month in which we celebrate feasts of saints in 21 out of 31 days. For the readings, liturgies, meditations, and vignettes on these feasts, see DAILY LITURGY.

The DAILY WORD
Taken from the Gospel for Tuesday's Mass
"The field is the world; the good seed, the sons of the kingdom; the weeds, the sons of the wicked one one; and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. But the harvest is the end of the world, and the reapers are the angels. Therefore, just as the weeds are gathered up and burnt with fire, so will it be at the end of the world. The Son of Man wil send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all scandals and those who work iniquity, and cast them into the furnace of fire, where there will be weeping, and gnashing of teeth." Matthew 13: 38-42

Deification of self leads to hatred of God
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the words of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen have been known to launch a thousand images in one's mind, one of the ways this late luminary did so much to evangelize the faith. Because of the urgency of the times and because few there are today who possess the wisdom, simplicity and insight than the late Archbishop who touched millions, we are bringing you daily gems from his writings. The good bishop makes it so simple that we have dubbed this daily series: "SIMPLY SHEEN".
"Nothing so blocks happiness and peace in the soul as a pampered ego. So much of what men call atheism is not so much the negation of God as the deification of ego. Every atheist believes in God, but the god is himself. Being surrounded with so many limitations, frustrations and weaknesses, he develops more and more a hatred for the God Who is the Shepherd seeking lost sheep among the brambles."
July 25th Medjugorje Monthly Message
NOTE: We respectfully recognize and accept the final authority regarding apparitions, locutions and prophecies presently being reported around the world rests with the Holy See of Rome and the Magisterium of Holy Mother Church to whose judjment we humbly and obediently submit. Following is Our Lady's message for July:
"Dear children! Do not forget that you are here on earth on the way to eternity and that your home is in Heaven. That is why, little children, be open to God’s love and leave egoism and sin. May your joy be only in discovering God in daily prayer. That is why, make good use of this time and pray, pray, pray; and God is near to you in prayer and through prayer. Thank you for having responded to my call."
