While it's true that marriage vows are "until death do us part", my bride Cyndi will always be a part of me. The above photos were taken by fellow parishioner Sandy Praska last year on May 10, 2013. She reminded me of the photos last week and asked her husband Doug to send me the photos of that memorable event for us. It was the occasion of our 32nd Wedding Anniversary. At that time our pastor was Father Bernard Welp, CMRI, who blessed us as we renewed our vows at the Chapel of Our Lady of Fatima after Holy Mass. I remember it vividly and prayed for more years together if God so willed it. He gave us three days short of eleven more months, and for that I'm thankful. For those who want to know just how unique Cyndi was, I invite you to read my tribute to her. Yes, it's long, but thorough. After all, what would you expect from someone who loved and cherished her through thick and thin, for better or for worse, til death do us part? I promise you'll gain a tremendous interior insight into just how special, and, yes, how holy this wonderful lady was in reading God writes straight with crooked lines

After being soulmates for over 33 years, I must admit it is quite an adjustment. To make it all the more frustrating, it's been a hellacious six weeks since she passed for almost since the day she died, satan has chosen to try to get to me by tormenting my computer something fierce; so much so that I had to have it sent back to the factory and rebuild everything. I'm still working on trying to recoup emails and only a miracle will make that possible. Early this past Wednesday evening on May 14, I got my email connections back, but can presently only receive messages sent since May 10. How ironic that date. So if you emailed me before the 10th, I respectfully ask you to re-email me at the email below or tweet me at dailycatholic so we can reconnect. With the problems I've had with my computer, which, I might note, has been blessed numerous times with holy water in exorcising whatever demons lurk in the system, I've had to "Rube Goldberg", so to speak, the May editions via saved flash drives. Fortunately I was able to format most of the graphics prior to the computer going kaput. This latest setback has forced me to rebuild all my programs and data. I'm not complaining, just explaining.

In the meantime, I only ask your patience as I consider what's going to be best for the future of this publication in light of my own health, age, and the problems I've encountered. I ask your prayers and support since we are definitely in the red in endeavoring to somehow pay our just debts on past medical expenses, not to mention Cyndi's funeral costs, where the aggregate is now over $7,000. and climbing because of late charges. In this week ending with the traditional observance of Mary, Help of Christians, Auxilium Christianorum, I ask your help in remembering Cyndi by donating whatever you can afford to help alleviate the debts she accrued through no fault of her own. I humbly ask you to open your heart to Cyndi's Angels.

Also keep in mind I'm trying to cover all bases while surviving without Cyndi's Social Security check of $515.00 each month that had helped cover the mortgage, escalating lot rent, and car, in addition to other necessary expenses. Did I mention that I take not one cent of salary, nor have I over the past twenty years? Publishing the DailyCatholic has always been a labor of love for the love of Jesus, His Most Immaculate Mother Mary, and for perpetuating the Truths and Traditions of holy Mother Church from Peter through Pope Pius XII before the Great Apostasy eclipsed the True Church. I pledge to fight on in the trenches, minus a part of me - my soulmate - for I am confident God always has this traditional apostolate's back and I hope and pray you will, too. God bless and keep.

On this Fourth Sunday After Easter, the Church exalts the justice of God (Introit, Gospel), which is made manifest in the triumph of Christ and in that of His Mystical Bride - the Church. "The right hand of the Lord hath made manifest its power by mislng Christ from the dead" (Alleluia) and by taking Him up into Heaven on the day of His Ascension. It is expedient to ...More

Saint Venantius was born in Camerino, Italy during the persecution of the cruel Roman Emperor Decius At the tender age of fifteen years Venantius became a Christian, preaching Christ to others. His history is one of the most miraculous in the annals of the early martyrs. Having learned that he was about to be arrested, he presented himself to the governor of Camerino, Antiochus, at the city gates, and said to him that the lives of the gods were filled with every kind of crime, that there was only one God, whose unique Son had become a man to deliver his fellow humans from the tyranny of sin. When it was found impossible to shake his constancy either by threats or promises, he was condemned to be scourged, but was miraculously saved by an Angel. He was then burnt with torches and suspended over a low fire that he might be suffocated by the smoke. The judge's secretary, while admiring the steadfastness of the Saint, saw an Angel robed in white, who stamped out the fire and again set free the youthful martyr. This man proclaimed his faith in Christ and was baptized with his whole family. Shortly afterwards he won the martyr's crown. Venantius was summoned to appear before Antiochus. Unable to make him renounce his faith, the governor cast him into prison with an apostate soldier, who strove in vain to tempt him. Antiochus, furious, then ordered his ...More

John Gregory provides the commentary for the Fourth Sunday after Easter from Father George Leo Haydock found in many Douay-Rheims version of the New Testament. How ironic when false prophets and antipopes are trying to justify the Jews in their sin, when Bishop Bernard Fellay ignores this after years of resisting in order to now compromise with the devil - that we have this wonderful Gospel of St. John the Evangelist on the truth. Our Lord foretold many times that the Jews would be a stubborn lot and indeed that has proven true for still today they brag about rejecting Him and expect faithful Catholics to tow their line rather than God's. More proof they answer to the prince of the world and not to the Son of God Who alone provides eternal happiness, re-emphasized so many times, especially in today's Gospel where Jesus promises He will always be with His children for He will not leave His apostles shorthanded. No, as promised, He will send His Spirit, the Holy Ghost which proves the Filioque of the Creed as we see in today's commentary for the Fourth Sunday after Easter in Promise of the Paraclete

Father Benedict Hughes, CMRI, Rector of St. Joseph's Minor Seminary in Rathdrum, Idaho at the City of Mary presents a thirteen-minute sermon recorded two years ago and made available through Traditional Catholic Sermons for the Fourth Sunday after Easter, also known as "Cantáte Sunday" after the Introit "Cantáte Domino", which means "Sing to the Lord" and which Father addresses how we are now preparing for the Advocate as Christ promises that through thick and thin, He will be with us always for He will send His Spirit. Father provides encouragement, especially to parents who often consider their greatest cross is their children who have strayed from the true Faith. He reminds them that God judges the effort, not the results and equates the courageous efforts of missionaries who strove to convert so many and never saw the fruits of their efforts, but that they gave it their all. He urges all to not give up hope and to realize, as Jesus affirms, that there will always be The Joys and Sufferings of Life.

Each day we feature a title and/or salutation to Our Lady in celebration of Mary's month of May and today, on this last day of the oldest Novena in the Church - this to the Holy Ghost, The Blessed Virgin's divine Spouse and thus we honor her as Mother most chaste as we make an Act of Consecration to the Sanctifier while continuing to pray the Holy Rosary and contemplate on the magnificent titles she is known by in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and The Fatima Prayers.
For more on the Total Consecration, listen to a sermon by Father Benedict Hughes, CMRI on the holy, devout servant of Mary St. Louis de Montfort, and how we can also be devoted slaves of Our Lady with St. Louis de Montfort and True Devotion

Today on the eighteenth day of May the flower is the delicate LAVENDER which is mauve in its lavender-like hues with the corresponding Virtue being MODESTY. This is appropriate for modesty is the cornerstone of chastity and purity. Nothing makes Our Lady happier than a pure heart and a pure heart begins with being pure in the flesh. What we wear governs how we think, where we place God in our lives. Like the Lavender, our souls are delicate and to be immodest in any way or not to practice custody of the eyes puts that delicateness in jeopardy. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Ghost and we must strive to adorn these temples with layers of clothing that are pleasing to our Almighty Creator, not man. What also is pleasing to God is when we pay honor to His Blessed Mother this month with the Devotion of The Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Saint Peter Celestine was the eleventh of the twelve children of a poor Italian farmer. As a child, Peter had visions of our Blessed Lady, Angels and Saints. His heavenly visitors encouraged him in his prayers and chided him when he fell into any fault. His mother, though only a poor widow, sent him to school, feeling sure that he would one day be a Saint. At the age of twenty, he left his home in Apulia to live in a mountain solitude. Here he passed three years, assaulted by the evil spirits and beset with temptations of the flesh, but consoled by the visits of Angels. After this his seclusion was invaded by disciples who refused to be sent away; and the rule of life which he gave them formed the foundation of the Celestines, a branch of the Order of Saint Benedict. Angels assisted in the church which Peter built; unseen bells rang peals of surpassing ...More

Each day we feature a title and/or salutation to Our Lady in celebration of Mary's month of May and today, on this second day of the oldest Novena in the Church and feast of the holy Sovereign Pontiff St. Celestine we honor Mary as most admirable. It is an admirable habit to remember to pray daily her Holy Rosary while also we should contemplate on the magnificent titles she is known by in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the prayer imparted by the angel of Fatima with The Fatima Prayers. For more on the Total Consecration, listen to a sermon by Father Benedict Hughes, CMRI on the holy, devout servant of Mary St. Louis de Montfort, and how we can also be devoted slaves of Our Lady with St. Louis de Montfort and True Devotion

For the nineteenth day of May the flower offered to Our Lady for Queen of the May is the rugged HAWTHORN with the corresponding Virtue being MORTIFICATION. This is appropriate for mortification takes being able to withstand pain and pleasure. The red-fruited Hawthorn consisting of dense corymbs of pink-red flowers has stems and leaves which are densely covered with short wooly hairs and must bear up under cold and windy conditions. That is why it is found in evergreen country and the mountains where conditions are rough for a lot of wind helps the weather-worn Hawthorn to bloom. How fitting that this coincides with the feast of Pope Saint Celestine V today for this holy monk before being elected, spent time in mortification among the Hawthorn flowers. He realized that mortification helps to toughen us in the face of temptation and the life of ease, allowing grace to blossom forth the aromatic myrrh of the Hawthorn. In fact, when elected the Catholic Encyclopedia says "unseen bells rang peals of surpassing sweetness." And speaking of sweetness, we encourage you during Mary's month to pray the Devotion of The Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary

At this season of the year, when Jesus by His triumph has realized His name of Saviour, the Cycle celebrates the Feast of St. Bernardine who was consumed "by the very ardent love of this divine name" (Collect). Born of a noble family of Siena, St. Bernardine renounced all his possessions. He kept his chastity intact, in spite of the dangers to which his handsome features exposed him. The Church applies to him the words of Holy Scripture: "He had it in his power to violate the commandment of God, and he did not violate it" (Epistle). "Not placing his hope in money and treasures" (Ibid.) he left all, to follow Christ (Gospel), and entered the Order of St. Francis, one of whose glories he is. Traveling through towns and villages, everywhere ...More

Each day we feature a title and/or salutation to Our Lady in celebration of Mary's month of May and today, on this feast of the holy confessor St. Bernardine of Siena, we honor Our Lady as Mystical Rose so fair and renew our pledge to pray daily her Holy Rosary and contemplate on the magnificent titles she is known by in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and The Fatima Prayers. For more on the Total Consecration, listen to a sermon by Father Benedict Hughes, CMRI on the holy, devout servant of Mary St. Louis de Montfort, and how we can also be devoted slaves of Our Lady with St. Louis de Montfort and True Devotion

For the twentieth day of May the flower offered to Our Lady for Queen of the May is the popular GERANIUM with the corresponding Virtue being ZEAL FOR SOULS. Consider that the colorful Geraniums number over 100 million plants grown and sold throughout the world every year. Each colorful, hardy perennial plant, while often different in color and even design, still belongs to the Geranium family. Now consider that in souls - 100 million souls a year being converted! Talk about Zeal for Souls! That is what we should all have and what pleases Blessed Mary so much. We should consider a person's soul much more beautiful in God's sight than a Geranium and tend to cultivating souls by nourishing them perennially with the Truths and Traditions of the One, True Church. Let us all increase our zeal for souls and pray the Devotion of The Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Today is the Feria of the previous Sunday, which is the Fourth Sunday After Easter. During this Paschaltide the Church exalts the justice of God (Introit, Gospel), which is made manifest in the triumph of Christ and in that of His Mystical Bride - the Church. "The right hand of the Lord hath made manifest its power by mislng Christ from the dead" (Alleluia) and by taking Him up into Heaven on the day of His Ascension. It is expedient to us that Jesus should leave the earth, for from Heaven He will send to His Church the Spirit of truth (Gospel), that excellent gift which comes down from the Father (Epistle). The Holy Ghost will unite all hearts (Collect), will teach them all truth (Gospel, Offertory) and will convince Satan and the World of the sin they have committed in delivering Jesus ...More

Each day we feature a title and/or salutation to Our Lady in celebration of Mary's month of May we honor the Blessed Mother as Mystical Rose as we continue to celebrate Paschaltide and look to the Blessed Virgin for as we honor her by renewing our pledge to pray daily her Holy Rosary and contemplate on the magnificent titles she is known by in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and The Fatima Prayers. For more on the Total Consecration, listen to a sermon by Father Benedict Hughes, CMRI on the holy, devout servant of Mary St. Louis de Montfort, and how we can also be devoted slaves of Our Lady with St. Louis de Montfort and True Devotion

For the twenty-first day of May the flower offered to Our Lady as Queen of the May is the bluish PERIWINKLE with the corresponding Virtue being PURITY OF INTENTION. It has been said the best intentions often go awry. One reason they do is because they may not be based on God's will. Through purity of intention, it is based on doing the Divine Will in all things. One reason the Periwinkle plant is associated with this is because the periwinkle is a trailing evergreen herb with solitary blue or white flowers, often also referred to as myrtle in the U.S. The trail of good intentions, if followed in a straight line toward Heaven will stretch further toward God; those intentions which are not cultivated and cropped by living a virtuous life, will scatter every which way and gather cockle and thistles, thus becoming refuse to be cast into the eternal fires (cf. St. Matthew 7: 19). Remember Our Lady this month with the Devotion of The Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Each day we feature a title and/or salutation to Our Lady in celebration of Mary's month of May and today we look to the Blessed Virgin for her guidance as we honor her as Mother of Good Counsel asking her to guide us for her counsel and example is so vitally important if we are to navigate safely to Heaven's shore through the obstacles of the world, the flesh and the devil. What better compass than the true faith and to pray daily her Holy Rosary and contemplate on the magnificent titles she is known by in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and The Fatima Prayers. For more on the Total Consecration, listen to a sermon by Father Benedict Hughes, CMRI on the holy, devout servant of Mary St. Louis de Montfort, and how we can also be devoted slaves of Our Lady with St. Louis de Montfort and True Devotion

On the twenty-second day of May the flower offered to Our Lady as Queen of the May was the yellow BUTTERCUP with the corresponding Virtue being OBEDIENCE. We must always have obedience to God and we owe allegiance to man only when man's directive is in full harmony with the ordaining will of God. The Buttercup, with its five petals and small, humble appearance is a most fitting reminder of obedience for the 15 Mysteries of the Rosary are divided into three sets of five and begin with the Annunciation, which epitomizes obedience for Our Lady's fiat paved the way for the ultimate obedience to the Father with her Divine Son's Passion, Death and Resurrection so that salvation could be attained through the merits of Jesus Christ. What a wonderful flower to offer to the Blessed Mother in her month of May. Remember Our Lady this month with the Devotion of The Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Each day we feature a title and/or salutation to Our Lady in celebration of Mary's month of May and today, we call upon Mary as Comforter of the afflicted for those who lost loved ones or their homes through all kinds of catastrophes that visit mankind throughout man's tijme on this fleeting earth. She is always there to guide us to her divine Son and comfort us as we carry our cross, which we never know what that might be, it is how we willingly carry it that counts. We, with our fallen human nature, are all afflicted and it is a comfort to know she is there for us always. Therefore, let us all pray daily her Holy Rosary and contemplate on the magnificent titles she is known by in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and The Fatima Prayers. For more on the Total Consecration, listen to a sermon by Father Benedict Hughes, CMRI on the holy, devout servant of Mary St. Louis de Montfort, and how we can also be devoted slaves of Our Lady with St. Louis de Montfort and True Devotion

On the twenty-third day of May the flower offered to Our Lady as Queen of the May is the BLUEBELL with the corresponding Virtue being DESIRE FOR HEAVEN. The delicate bell-shaped flower which grows on many continents and belongs both to the hyacinth and columbine genus, is symbolic of the church bells that clarion souls to come to Holy Mass or to pray the Angelus, or during Paschaltide the Regina Coeli. The reason for prayer is not for socializing, but for turning our attention to God and the purpose of desiring things not of this earth, but of Heaven. The Bluebell's delicate shell chimes quietly in a whispy wind reminding us of God's call to focus on our end goal - our Desire for Heaven, possible only through adherence to all Christ has taught and established in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church He founded. It is a magnificent flower to offer to Mary whose entire life was focused on a Desire for Heaven and bringing God's children to that same goal. What a wonderful flower to offer her during her month of May with the Devotion of The Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Mass of the Blessed Virgin shows us Mary as Mother of our Savior. She was predestined from all eternity for the role of co-redemptrix (Epistle), for as Eve was the intermediary chosen by the angel of darkness to bring about the fall of Adam, so also Mary the intermediary to whom the angel Gabriel delivered the message of salvation from Heaven. She is also blessed since she heard the word of God and obeyed it (Gospel). See Mass of Salve, sancta parens

Today is the traditional feast of Mary, Help of Christians. The invocation Auxilium Christianorum (Help of Christians) originated in the sixteenth century and was added to the Litany of Loreto by His Holiness Pope St. Pius V following the victorious Battle of Lepanto. This feast was instituted for May 24 by His Holiness Pope Pius VII. Though not a feast on the universal calendar it is celebrated at various places throughout the world where, for instance Mary, Help of Christians is the patronal feast of Australia and a double of the first class with an octave leading to the Queenship of Mary is celebrated with great splendor. This feast has also attained special celebrity since St. Don Bosco, founder of the Salesian Congregation, dedicated to Our Lady, Help of Christians, the mother church of his congregation at Turin. The Salesian Fathers have carried the devotion to their numerous establishments.

Each day we feature a title and/or salutation to Our Lady in celebration of Mary's month of May and today, in the aftermath of the devastation in Oklahoma and the shocking (or maybe not so shocking considering who he is) public heresy by the lay faux pope that you don't have to be Catholic, don't even have to be a Christian to be saved we call upon the Blessed Mother to come to the aid of the faithful for she is Mary, Help of Christians, a title we honor her with today on the traditional feast of that wonderful moniker. Look to her for help always and show your commitment by praying daily her Holy Rosary and contemplate on the magnificent titles she is known by in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and The Fatima Prayers.

On the twenty-fourth day of May the flower is the RED POPPY with the corresponding Virtue being FERVOR. The hairy-herbed red poppy, though coveted for its opium by those who reject its beauty and look to use it for the means of mammon, emits a milky juice that has been used for authentic medicinal purposes to heal the body. But it is the fervor of its elixir spiritually that drives the virtue of fervor to heal the soul and therein lies the true beauty of the Red Poppy offered to Our Lady in Mary's May. Only a week left to offer her a bouquet with the Devotion of The Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary

As much as we hate to beg, we have no choice. If you have benefited in anyway from what we have published, we humbly ask your help to keep this publication on line. We know that so many of our readers are unable to assist at a true traditional Latin Mass because of where they live and use the daily liturgy we publish to gain the efficacious graces possible through their prayers at home. We remain the only publication in the world to provide such and are grateful to God that we can provide such nourishment for souls. If you have not donated before, isn't it only right and proper to donate now? Whatever you can afford will be greatly appreciated. Just click the button below or send a check/money order to the address below. We are a bonafide non-profit 501c(3) religious association and all donations are tax-deductible. Whatever you would have contributed toward any bloated political campaigns or thrown away in the conciliar collection plates that only goes to covering up the sins of its presbyters and false primates while destroying all semblence of Catholicism, why not earmark it for SANCTUS/DailyCatholic? After all, shouldn't we all take St. Paul's strong counsel in 2 Thessalonians 2: 14 to heart and "stand firm, and hold the traditions which you have learned"?

When One Cannot physically assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass we provide additional prayers that can be supplemented with the ORDINARY OF THE HOLY MASS and the PROPER OF THE DAY to enable you to better prepare yourself at home. Of course, this never replaces actually being there, but it is much better than attending the Novus Ordo services. Therefore we have gleaned from The Key of Heaven prayers to say at home. It is very comforting to know that the Holy Mass is offered for us even when we are not actually present. But to enjoy the benefits which it procures, we must by a SPIRITUAL COMMUNION become partakers of the altar from which we are temporarily banished. Here we provide prayers in preparation for fulfilling assistance in absentia in addition to the ORDINARY OF THE HOLY MASS and PROPER OF THE DAY. PRAYERS IN ABSENTIA

    The Fatima Prayers

My God, I believe, I adore, I trust and I love Thee; and I beg pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not trust, and do not love Thee.
(repeat the above 3 times then bow your head in reciting the following:)

O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most Precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in tabernacles throughout the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference by which He is offended. By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in unison with the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners.

O Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee! My God, my God, I love Thee in the Most Blessed Sacrament!

O my Jesus, it is for love of Thee, in reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary and for the conversion of poor sinners.

    Prayer Before the Crucifix

Behold, O kind and most sweet Jesus, I cast myself upon my knees in Thy sight, and with the most fervent desire of my soul I pray and beseech Thee that Thou wouldst fix deep within my heart lively sentiments of Faith, Hope and Charity, with true repentance for my sins, and a firm purpose of amendment, whilst with deep affection and grief of soul I ponder within myself and mentally contemplate Thy five most precious Wounds; having before my eyes the words which David in prophesy spoke concerning Thee, O Good Jesus: "They have pierced My hands and My feet; they have numbered all My bones."
