 
  The headline above says it all "What a Glorious Week!" as we preface the glorious Solemnity of the Ascension of Our Lord into Heaven with Rogation Days and then within the Octave of the Ascension we celebrate the Double of the Glorious Second Class Feast of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary as we recognize two of the Glorious Mysteries this week. Yes, Glorious indeed! John Gregory provides reflections on these two Mysteries below as well as the other three Mysterires.
 
To enhance this glorious week, we begin the Nine Day Novena to the Holy Ghost on the Friday after the Ascension leading up to Pentecost. It is the oldest approved Novena in the Church
   And to add to this, we begin this week of celebration with the feast of the holy Sovereign Pontiff Pope St. Gregory VII, to whom we owe our calendar to this holy monk Hildebrand.There is only a commemoration for Sunday Low Masses since St. Gregory's feast is superseded this year by the Fifth Sunday after Easter. On Rogation Monday we recognize the feast of  St. Philip Neri followed by the feast of the holy Doctor of the Church and Holy Historian Church Father St. Bede the Venerable on Rogation Tuesday with the Vigil of the Ascension on Rogation Wednesday as the calendar always calls for. The vigil also kicks St. Augustine of Canterbury into commemoration mode as well. With the Ascension we realize Christ will soon send His Spirit, the Holy Ghost as Pentecost is a mere ten days away. This solemnity naturally supersedes the feast of the holy Virgin St. Mary Magdalen Pazzi.    On Friday with the Mass Within the Octave we observe the traditional feast of the holy martyr of France St. Joan of Arc, but without a commemoration. Then we turn all our attention on the one honored throughout this month, the Mother of God whose coronation as Queen of Heaven and earth we celebrate on Saturday to end the month of the Queen of the May. Appropriately throughout this month we've honored her each day with a different flower for our spiritual bouquet that has been enhanced by praying her devotion to The Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We present the full bouquet below on her feast day.

St. Gregory VII was one of the most famous of the successors of St. Peter. He was born at the foot of the Capitol, near the deaconry of St. Mary in Portico, which he caused to be restored after he had become Pope, reconsecrating the high altar. In his early youth Hildebrand was professed in the Order of St. Benedict In the little monastery of St. Mary on the Aventine, where the Priory of the Knights of Malta now stands. This most holy monk was elected Pope in 1073, and his conflicts with Henry IV, Emperor of Germany, have made his name immortal throughout the whole Christian world. On May 25, 1085, in the twelfth year of his pontificate, Gregory entered into his rest. He died in exile at Salerno, where his body is buried in the Cathedral.

  In the Haydock Commentary for the Fifth Sunday after Easter from Father George Leo Haydock found in many Douay-Rheims version of the New Testament and provided here by John Gregory, we see in the Epistle by St. James only the penitent man who heeds God's law and will shall not fear. For God knows a man's heart. One can never hide from God and it's important to realize that as great as the Corporal Works of Mercy might be, they are hollow if the Spiritual Works of Mercy are not applied. To work out one's salvation in fear and trembling, one cannot be passive, but rather active for the good of souls as God so wills and in the Gospel our Lord reaffirms His divinity in His discourse with His apostles in reminding them that He must return to the Father Who sent Him. But He encourages them that they shall know great joy and anything they ask of the Father in Christ's name, it will be granted. Saint Bede, the illustrious ornament of the Anglo-Saxon Church and the first English historian, is universally known as "Venerable Bede." He was declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope Leo XIII. He trained six hundred scholars, who were attached to him by his piety, learning, and sweet disposition. He left beautiful lives of Anglo-Saxon saints, and his commentaries on the Scriptures are still in use by the Church. He died on May 26 in 735.    This year the feast of the holy Doctor St. Bede the Venerable falls on Rogation Tuesday. While the first step to sainthood (prior to the CONciLIAR insanity of instant "sainthood") is making one venerable, the title of Saint Bede the Venerable means so much more for he was the illustrious ornament of the Anglo-Saxon Church and its very first historian. Considered the Father of English History, he was the first to date events as in the "Year of Our Lord" - Anno Domini (A.D.) and would be appalled today to hear that the Modernist secularists want to make it A.C.E. (After the Common Era)in doing away with any reference to Christ whatsoever, all part of the anti-Catholic agenda to de-Christianize America thoroughly.  Thanks to Traditional Catholic Sermons we are able to bring you an eleven-minute sermon by Bishop Daniel Dolan for the feast of the holy Bishop St. Augustine of Canterbury who followed Our Lord's charge to go and preach the gospel to the whole world. Augustine was sent by Pope St. Gregory the Great to England in fulfillment of his promise to Anglo slave children that he would turn them into angels. Sure enough Augustine with forty monks headed for the British Isles even though they were dissuaded by the French bishops. Though Augustine had doubts, he was determined after St. Gregory re-encouraged him. He entered into possession of the Kingdom of Heaven which He had gained by His sufferings, and St. Paul declares that God "hath made us sit together in the heavenly places, through Christ Jesus." "There where the Head has gone, the Body is called to follow!" The liturgical festival of the Ascension, whilst less ancient than that of Pentecost, is one of the oldest of the cycle, was already so universally observed that St. Augustine was able to attribute its institution to the Apostles themselves. At Rome, the Pope, after the night Office was concluded, and after Mass had been celebrated at the altar of St. Peter, was crowned by the cardinals, and towards the sixth hour was accompanied by bishops and clergy to the Lateran.
On this day Jesus was taken up into Heaven; His faithful disciples continued to gaze heavenward. The contemplative vision of Paradise is reserved, however, for those who have already passed into the Church Triumphant. The supreme glorification of the Head who is this day enthroned at the right hand of the Father in Heaven affects the members also, like the precious balsam which, as the psalmist tells us, descended from the head of Aaron on to his flowing beard and on to his gorgeous pontifical vestments. Forty days after rising from the dead, the Son of God returns to the Father as He said He would, but He has promised His Spirit would be with His disciples until the consummation of the world. That assurance we have in ten days when we celebrate the birthday of His Holy Church on Pentecost. Today we celebrate His glorious Ascension into Heaven where He remains until He returns as He promised.  When that will be no one knows, but He has given us the signs that the time is near from His discourse in the Gospel of St. Matthew and indeed much of what He foretold has come to pass including the "abomination of desolation" which we can clearly see is the abominable Novus Ordo 'missae', which is also in lockstep with the New World Order ( novus ordo seclorum) that will adopt satan as their leader once all are under his control. No wonder Jesus said aloud His curiosity of whether there will be any faith left when the Son of man returns in St. Luke 18: 8.  In the Haydock Commentary for the Solemnity of the Ascension the Epistle and Gospel comprise the first words of the Acts of the Apostles and the last words of St. Mark all treated with the cogent comprehensive Haydock Catholic Commentary provided by John Gregory. The Lord has completed His work on earth. He has entrusted to His hand-chosen band of disciples, hardly saints at the time of His Ascension, His Spirit - the Holy Ghost. Within days they will be transformed and given the grace, gifts and fruits to carry out His command in St. Mark to preach the gospel to every creature and to assure them that if they believe and are baptized they will be saved. He leaves the dire warning so ignored today, that if they do not they will be condemned. Stronger words Christ did not speak. The sad fact is that so few have heeded His failsafe words.   Today we begin the oldest novena of the Church, the Novena to the Holy Ghost and if ever we needed the Advocate's help it is now in 2012 when souls and hearts have hardened and grown lukewarm in their comfort zones, which surely can't be pleasing to the Sanctifier. In the face of this ennui to the spiritual crisis that has caused so much destruction to body and soul since the death of the last true Pope on October 9, 1958, we ask when will we wake up from this free fall and grab the parachute God offers? If only we would reach out and make the effort to save not only our own souls but those of our fellow man, we'd see a tremendous change in attitude and conversions. It is what Christ commands us to do and that command begins with the only ones who have the jurisdiction and authority to provide the true sacraments to souls - the traditional bishops who hold the key to returning sanity and sanctity. Let us pray the Holy Ghost will touch them and move them to set aside their petty differences and be the apostles we need them to be, that God needs them to be. This feast was established in the Traditional Calendar by Pope Pius XII for May 31st to cap off Mary's Month of May. This year, because May 31 fell during Pentecost week, it has been transferred to June 4. In AAS 38, Pius XII declared: "Mary is queen by grace, by divine relationship, by right of conquest and by singular election." John Gregory provides a contemplative, meditative treatise on the Fifth Glorious Mystery on her glorious feast. What greater glory can there be for a lifetime of devotion and uncompromising fiat to the divine will than to be recognized for all time what the Blessed Mother accomplished in being crowned by her divine Son and heavenly Father with the assistance of the Holy Ghost, her divine Spouse. It is a lesson for us that indeed there is a light at the end of this worldly tunnel, a light from the Beatific Vision attainable only by adhering willingly and lovingly to the will of Almighty God for she is the Woman of the Apocalypse, with a crown of twelve stars.  Fear of the Lord seems to be forgotten in so many today who go about their lives without fearing what the Lord will do because of their hardened hearts and devil-may-care attitude that they can do whatever they want. Oh, will they be surprised. Let us pray it will not be too late when they realize the devil doesn't care because he already has them in his grip, but God does and if they do not develop a Holy Fear they will when they stand before their Judge and hear their sentence. Talk about fear! That is why to be truly Catholic one must fear the Lord not for the punishments He may dole to those who do not follow His divine will, but for fear of offending Him. That is where love comes into play for if we truly love God, we will care how He feels and do everything we can to alleviate the wrath of the Almighty Whose cup by now is running over with the offenses against Him and His Natural Laws. Let us pray the Holy Ghost will soften the hardened hearts, warm the cold dones, and bring them to the realization of how having a Holy Fear is a true gift of the Holy Ghost as we pray the Second Day of the Novena to the Holy Ghost

Throughout Mary's month of May we offered a different flower and virtue each day to Mary, Queen of the May, capped by our daily Rosaries. You are strongly encouraged to continue each and every day to do as our heavenly Mother asked at Fatima and that is to make reparation, to love her divine Son and to keep the Faith. How do we do that? By praying throughout the year the Holy Rosary and contemplating on the magnificent titles she is known by in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and praying The Fatima Prayers.

When One Cannot physically assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass
we provide additional prayers that can be supplemented with the ORDINARY OF THE HOLY MASS and the PROPER OF THE DAY to enable you to better prepare yourself at home. Of course, this never replaces actually being there, but it is much better than attending the Novus Ordo services. Therefore we have gleaned from The Key of Heaven prayers to say at home. It is very comforting to know that the Holy Mass is offered for us even when we are not actually present. But to enjoy the benefits which it procures, we must by a SPIRITUAL COMMUNION become partakers of the altar from which we are temporarily banished. Here we provide prayers in preparation for fulfilling assistance in absentia in addition to the ORDINARY OF THE HOLY MASS and PROPER OF THE DAY. PRAYERS IN ABSENTIA
