    This month of September is dedicated to Our Most Sorrowful Mother. We must ask our Lady to allow us to accompany her in her suffering and to willingly take up our cross in doing so and in doing all we can in reparation for our sins and the sins of others. It is no coincidence that the Church places the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and the Feast of the Seven Sorrows back to back in the midst of this month for the two are intertwined and the more we share in Mary's dolorous passion and strive to accept as she did, the more we are connected to the Cross for without such there can be no glory, no resurrection. Every moment of the day when we have time, pray a short ejaculation such as "Jesus meek and humble of Heart, make our hearts like unto Thine." And call upon His Most Blessed Mother and our heavenly mother to guard and guide us and give us strength to persevere and learn from the trials and tribulations we face each and every day in our dry martrydom that we do not slip and choose the easier path that leads to worldly acceptance and God's disapproval. Let us ask Mary to bring us safely to her divine Son, before His altar where we can receive Him Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity that we may grow in sanctifying grace to help us better focus on our mission as members of the Church Militant to apply our prayers, penances, sacrifices and self-mortifications for the conversion of those who are chained to the Novus Ordo, that they will realize the true Bread of Life is only confected in the Traditional Latin Mass, and let us continue to pray daily the Leonine Prayer said at the end of every Latin Low Mass:

"Qui legit, intelligat"

The following is the longer version of the vital prayer composed by Pope Leo XIII in 1888 after his startling vision as to the future of the Church. This prayer was dedicated for the Feast of St. Michael 1448 years from the date of the election of the first Leo - Pope Saint Leo the Great. Everyone is familiar with the first prayer below which was mandated by His Holiness as part of the Leonine Prayers after Low Mass. After Vatican II, in legion with the devil Giovanni Montini outlawed this necessary prayer and then one wonders how "the smoke of satan" got into the sanctuary? The conciliarists wanted to make sure the words in bold below would never see the light of day again for in it Leo foretold what would happen: The shepherd would be struck, the sheep scattered. Below are both the short and longer versions of this poignant prayer which should never be forgotten.

    Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray, and do thou, O heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

O glorious Archangel Saint Michael, Prince of the heavenly host, be our defense in the terrible warfare which we carry on against principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, spirits of evil. Come to the aid of man, whom God created immortal, made in His own image and likeness, and redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of the devil. Fight this day the battle of our Lord, together with the holy angels, as already thou hast fought the leader of the proud angels, Lucifer, and his apostate host, who were powerless to resist thee, nor was there place for them any longer in heaven. That cruel, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil or Satan who seduces the whole world, was cast into the abyss with his angels. Behold this primeval enemy and slayer of men has taken courage. Transformed into an angel of light, he wanders about with all the multitude of wicked spirits, invading the earth in order to blot out the Name of God and of His Christ, to seize upon, slay, and cast into eternal perdition, souls destined for the crown of eternal glory. That wicked dragon pours out. as a most impure flood, the venom of his malice on men of depraved mind and corrupt heart, the spirit of lying, of impiety, of blasphemy, and the pestilent breath of impurity, and of every vice and iniquity. These most crafty enemies have filled and inebriated with gall and bitterness the Church, the spouse of the Immaculate Lamb, and have laid impious hands on Her most sacred possessions. In the Holy Place itself, where has been set up the See of the most holy Peter and the Chair of Truth for the light of the world, they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck the sheep may be scattered. Arise then, O invincible Prince, bring help against the attacks of the lost spirits to the people of God, and give them the victory. They venerate thee as their protector and patron; in thee holy Church glories as her defense against the malicious powers of hell; to thee has God entrusted the souls of men to be established in heavenly beatitude. Oh, pray to the God of peace that He may put Satan under our feet, so far conquered that he may no longer be able to hold men in captivity and harm the Church. Offer our prayers in the sight of the Most High, so that they may quickly conciliate the mercies of the Lord; and beating down the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, do thou again make him captive in the abyss, that he may no longer seduce the nations. Amen.

V: Behold the Cross of the Lord; be scattered ye hostile powers.
R: The Lion of the Tribe of Juda has conquered the root of David.
V: Let Thy mercies be upon us, O Lord.
R: As we have hoped in Thee.
V: O Lord hear my prayer.
R: And let my cry come unto Thee.
V: Let us pray. O God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we call upon Thy holy Name, and as suppliants, we implore Thy clemency, that by the intercession of Mary, ever Virgin, immaculate and our Mother, and of the glorious Archangel Saint Michael, Thou wouldst deign to help us against Satan and all other unclean spirits, who wander about the world for the injury of the human race and the ruin of our souls. Amen.

Promises of the Sacred Heart

Catholic Family News provided permission to reprint these beautiful meditations and commentaries that should encourage more devotion to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, especially on every First Friday in fulfilling what Our Lord asked of Sister Margaret Mary Alacoque.

First Saturday Devotion
One of the greatest things we can do for the Sacred Heart of Jesus, especially in this Month of the Most Sacred Heart, is to honor His Blessed Mother and to act upon her strong request at Fatima to make reparation for the blasphemies against her name and image with the Five First Saturdays consisting of Confession, Holy Mass and Holy Communion, Recitation of the Holy Rosary, and spending at least 15 minutes - preferably before the Blessed Sacrament - to keep Our Lady company and to soothe her Immaculate Heart by pledging the intention of making reparation to the Blessed Mother for the offenses against Her. She promised to Sr. Lucia that whoever observes the Five First Saturday Devotions will receive the graces needed at the hour of death.

Act of Reparation to the Immaculate Heart

   Most Holy Virgin, and our beloved Mother, we listen with grief to the complaints of thy Immaculate Heart, surrounded with thorns which ungrateful men place therein at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. Moved by the ardent desire of loving thee as our Mother and of promoting true devotion to thy Immaculate Heart, we prostrate ourselves at thy feet to prove the sorrow we feel for the grief that men cause thee and to atone by means of our prayers and sacrifices for the offenses with which men return thy tender love. Obtain for them and for us the pardon of so many sins. A word from thee will obtain grace and forgiveness for us all. Hasten O Lady, the conversion of sinners, that they may love Jesus and cease to offend God, already so much offended, and thus avoid eternal punishment. Turn thine eyes of mercy toward us so that henceforth we may love God with all our hearts while on earth and enjoy Him forever in Heaven. Amen.

Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart

  O Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of Heaven and earth and tender Mother of men, in accordance with thy ardent wish made known at Fatima, I consecrate to thee myself, my brethren, my country and the whole human race. Reign over us and teach us how to make the Heart of Jesus reign and triumph in us and around us as It has reigned and triumphed in thee.

   Reign over us, dearest Mother, that we may be thine in prosperity and in adversity; in joy and in sorrow; in health and in sickness; in life and in death. O most compassionate Heart of Mary, Queen of Virgins, watch over our minds and our hearts and preserve them from the deluge of impurity which thou didst lament so sorrowfully at Fatima. We want to be pure like thee. We want to atone for the many sins committed against Jesus and thee. We want to call down upon our country and the whole world the peace of God in justice and charity.

   Therefore, we now promise to imitate thy virtues by the practice of a Christian life without regard to human respect. We resolve to receive Holy Communion on the First Saturday of every month and to offer thee five decades of the Rosary each day together with our sacrifices in a spirit of reparation and penance. Amen.

When you can't attend the Holy Sacrifice

Each time we worthily assist at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in person, we gain graces that are placed in a "golden chalice", so to speak, and is offered to God to be weighed in substance when we stand before Him at our Particular Judgment. The more we have filled this chalice, the better will it go for our spiritual welfare in eternity.

In this time of Epikeia when the true Church is in eclipse and so few true Masses available, when we pray the Mass prayers and make a spiritual act of Communion at home, graces are also received and placed in a "silver chalice", as it were, which, of course, is not as valuable as the gold one, yet is efficacious when the time comes to make an accounting for our lives.

Sister Mary Olive Rowley A devout and feisty Traditional Franciscan nun who has been administered Extreme Unction by Fr. Martin Stepanich in the hospital where she is dying from pneumonia. Michael DiSalvo A dedicated Traditional Catholic suffering from bronchitis. Simon Galloway The multi-talented Traditional Catholic author of No Crisis in the Church? is suffering from exhaustion and heart problems. Gregory Dean A 35 year-old Traditional Catholic who is dying from an auto-immune disease and has been given Extreme Unction. Baby Anastasia O'Neal Six-week old baptized girl who is in serious condition in a Cincinatti hospital. Pray for her parents as well. Mrs. Mary Ann Evans She and close Traditional Catholic friends sustained heavy damage to their homes from the recent storms in Evening Shade, Arkansas. All Soldiers of the War Pray for the souls of all those in combat - both friend and foe. We ask your prayers for Denise Trias' brother Douglas, a Marine Major who is being deployed to the Iraqi Border with a squad of 11 men under him. Pray for his safety and conversion. Also remember all those traditional Catholics who are serving their country. All Victims of Abortion This includes not only the unbaptized unborn, but for the sincere repentance and reparation of those who were mislead and deceived. All Perpetrators of Abortion This includes any who, complicitly by their consent or silence, in any way enabled these senseless murders that cry to Heaven for vengeance. Pray for their conversion and commitment to make amends whether they be mothers, fathers, doctors, nurses, judges, lawyers, politicians and ecclesiasts.

The Soul of Sister Thérèse-Philomène She died on September 11 in France seventy years after taking the habit of the Congregation of the Providence of Saint Andrew. She spent most of her long life as a nursing sister. She left her convent when the new liturgy arrived and devoted herself to the sick. In recent years she had lived in the Maison Saint Jean-Baptiste attached to Fr Belmont's chapel near Bordeaux. The Soul of Donald Edward Hlavaty. He died on August 24 at the age of 77. He had long been a devotee of Perpetual Adoration. The Soul of Eugene Fall. He suffered a fatal heart attack at the age of 55 as a result of Hurricane Gustav when a tree fell on his home. He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel in Opelousas, Louisiana, a mission parish of His Excellency Bishop Daniel Dolan. His parents were the original coordinators of the chapel which first opened in 1975 with His Excellency Bishop Robert McKenna, O.P. The Soul of Frances McGilloway She was the mother of Father James McGilloway, CMRI. She passed away on the west coast Friday July 18. The Soul of Bishop Jose de Jesus Roberto Martinez y Guitierrez This Traditional Catholic prelate from the Trento group, who was consecrated by Bishop Carmona, assisted by Bishop Zamora. He was a force for the Faith south of the border and will be sorely missed. He passed away on May 10 this year. Vincent Boedefeld Traditional Catholic who died on April 30 just a few days before he would have celebrated with his wife Patricia their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Father Celsus Griese, O.F.M. Traditional Franciscan priest who passed away recently The Soul of Mrs Blanche Womochil A longtime Traditional Catholic in her 90's from Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Spokane. Fr. Kevin Vaillancourt said the Requiem Funeral Mass and she was interred in City of Mary Cemetery this past week. The Soul of Erven E. Park This magnificent Traditional Catholic writer, known for his "Fruit Chronicles" and having contributed articles to The Daily Catholic over the years, passed away from cancer on the Feast of St. Pius V (May 5). The Soul of Asuncion Barret Hall who passed away at the age of 57 after a long struggle with cancer. This traditional Catholic's Requiem Mass was celebrated by Fr. Ephrem Cordova, CMRI at El Camino Mortuary on Friday, April 18. Asuncion, from the Philippines, was born on the Feast of the Assumption and had a deep devotion to our Lady. Requiescat in pace The Soul of Brian LaJoie who passed away in late March and his funeral was held at Mt. St. Michael over the first weekend of April. Brian, who long was handicapped with MS, was a parishioner of the City of Mary in Rathdrum, Idaho, but, because the roads to the cemetary were not accessible due to so much snow this spring in the mountains of northern Idaho, Brian's funeral was held in Spokane with Fr. Casimir Puskorius, CMRI officiating at the Requiem Mass attended by loved ones, friends and parishioners. Requiescat in pace The Soul of Mrs. Kathy South who passed away on March 7. She and her husband were longtime members of Mary Immaculate Queen parish in Rathdrum, Idaho. Requiescat in pace The Soul of Mrs. Rita Brueggermann who passed away on February 27. She, with her husband Bernie were long time influential traditional Catholics at Bishop Daniel Dolan's St. Gertrude the Great parish. Requiescat in pace The Soul of Mr. Robert Culpon who passed away on February 27. Bob, in his early 70's, was a devout traditional Catholic who died in his home in Helena, Montana.
