The following is the longer version of the vital prayer composed by Pope Leo XIII in 1888 after his startling vision as to the future of the Church. This prayer was dedicated for the Feast of St. Michael 1448 years from the date of the election of the first Leo - Pope Saint Leo the Great. Everyone is familiar with the first prayer below which was mandated by His Holiness as part of the Leonine Prayers after Low Mass. After Vatican II, in legion with the devil Giovanni Montini outlawed this necessary prayer and then one wonders how "the smoke of satan" got into the sanctuary? The conciliarists wanted to make sure the words in bold below would never see the light of day again for in it Leo foretold what would happen: The shepherd would be struck, the sheep scattered. Below are both the short and longer versions of this poignant prayer which should never be forgotten. 
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray, and do thou, O heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

After ten years as webmaster and editor, the time has come for the editor to become editor-in-chief, responsible for content and over-all direction, but not the day-to-day operation of The Daily Catholic. Several reasons for this can be gleaned from the article to the right. What is needed is a webmaster who is proficient in web-design and content. The two go hand in hand. It would be preferable that the person had knowledge and acumen of java and flash, but that is not absolutely necessary. There are no age-restrictions and the person can be married, single, a religious, male or female. What is necessary is that the person is totally knowledgeable in Traditional Catholicism 101 and is a practicing Roman Catholic. Exclusive attendance at the Traditional Latin Mass is a prerequisite as is the candidate's ability to express the Truths and Traditions of Holy Mother Church in clear and concise terms and be able to engage in apologetics. A literary and graphics background for such a person would be ideal, as would the person's comprehension of the contents of The Daily Catholic over the past four years. The person selected will be responsible for indexing thousand of pages in archives, maintaining the daily publishing of The Daily Catholic, review and format contributing articles in a timely manner, research for newsworthy items to share with readers, and be willing to launch into new ventures for streamlining the issue as well as promoting campaigns intended to contribute to the conversion of conciliar Catholics and Protestants, beginning with the conversion of Novus Ordo presbyters to the true priesthood of the holy Catholic Church. The person must be open to speculative theology while firm on the dogmas and doctrines. No agenda is to be forwarded other than what Christ has asked along with what has been handed down by the Apostles, Fathers, Doctors, Popes and Saints of the Church. Officially the position will not be open until the first of the year full time. The person need not relocate because all can be done in their home at the computer which must have a firewall to assure no infection would seep onto The Daily Catholic. A Hiring Board selected by SANCTUS will go through preliminary applications and pare them down to the best selected few. Those meeting the above criteria will then be given a follow-up consideration exercise to prove their worth and show their ability. Salary will be commensurate with the person's experience and dedication and ability to express themselves in word. Those interested should contact

The time has come for this editor to delegate many of the responsibilities I've held over the past ten years. I have discovered that I can no longer continue to function in the manner I have been accustomed to for so many years. In effect, I have been burning the candle at both ends and it has caught up with me. A little thing called age. No longer can I sit at the computer for hours on end, writing, editing, designing and formatting. The eyestrain has produced headaches and blurred vision. In addition, my arthritis and edema prohibit me from sitting very long at a computer. Thus, it's time to admit I'm only a man and can no longer do the impossible. I'm tapped out physically and it's beginning to affect my memory process as well, and yet, in the memorable words of Robert Frost, I have many more "miles to go before I sleep." 
Thus, it is wise that I cease spinning my head working on so many projects at once and focus on those which take priority for the sake of souls. All we have ever done over the last decade and more has been for that purpose. Now it is time for transition in the full traditional sense - the sensus Catholicus. Many plans are in the works that will not be made public for quite possibly a year or so, but the intent is to establish a garrison for the Church Militant to draw from and to provide a vehicle for increasing considerably the ranks of the Traditional Catholic clergy. It will take time and money, but we leave that in God's hands as we endeavor to do all we can on our part. This may sound like a pipe-dream to many, but we have faith and hope that it can become a reality and we will not know unless we launch out and do it. In order to make this a possibility certain directions have to be taken that necessitate I devote the majority of attention to this new venture that we have been working on throughout the summer hiatus issues.

"Qui legit, intelligat" "Qui legit, intelligat"   In Father Louis Campbell's sermon for the Fifteenth Sunday After Pentecost, he brings home the fact that the more one caters to the world, the more one sows corruption as St. Paul emphasizes in today's Epistle that God will not be mocked and yet, as Father shows, that is exactly what this generation does when it discards His commandments, His Church and the infrangible tenets set down and intended to be specifically carried out at His charge by His Church which He established as the only means for salvation - Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus. But His Church has been usurped by the robber barons who wage their own jihad against Holy Mother Church by joining the chorus of chaos and carry more souls to hell than all the natural and man-made disasters in the history of the world. The lesson of today's gospel - of being free of mortal sin by Christ's resurrecting the young man of Naim - is lost on today's Catholics. Thanks to the jihad against Catholic truth by the very ones who should uphold it, and through the wall-to-wall 24/7 cacophony of images, sounds and impressions, today's youth have been programmed to accept evil as good, and reject good as weak and something not to be tolerated, to mock. And in their mocking they mock God. And the greatest mockers are those who have a responsibility to stand against the world, the flesh and the devil in warning the flocks and instead, as the conciliar church has done for well over 40 years, kowtow to the devil with ambiguity and lukewarmness. The uproar against Benedict XVI over the true words he quoted on Islam is merely a by-product of the devil's progress. A true Pope would stand strong against false religions and wake the world from its subterranean slumber. Unfortunately, the conciliar architect has no backbone to stand up to the infidels and speak the truth, but instead backtracks to please man, fearing for the body, but having little if any regard for the soul. A Stone upon a Stone
"Qui legit, intelligat"  In Father Louis Campbell's sermon for the Fourteenth Sunday After Pentecost, he focuses on St. Paul's vital formula to the Galatians to stay the devil from conquering souls, our own and others. In order to assure this, we must have control of our concupiscences if we are to win in the battle against the world, the flesh and the devil. He reminds that it is only by walking in the light of the Holy Ghost by remaining in the state of Sanctifying Grace that we can overcome the flesh, for the age old idiom is true: "the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." That is why satan plays on this Achilles heel of man's fallen nature. That is why Catholics must truly know their Faith, know Who Christ truly is and all He has handed down through His one true Church from Peter through Pope Pius XII so that all who hear will willingly choose to follow the Son of God by subjecting themselves, body, mind and soul to the King of kings. To be His willing servants, man, who has been given a free will, must be willing to make reparation and exercise his mind and body through the heart of prayer in order to abhor sin and heresy for they are the siren of satan. The choice between the Son of God or the son of perdition could not be clearer as Father points out in today's Gospel for indeed "No man can serve two masters" and yet the conciliar church has the audacity to contradict this basic truth by pandering to followers of mammon, to unbelievers who claim to believe but by their rejection of the Kingship of Christ in their hearts and their laws, have, without a shadow of a doubt, cast their lot with satan. The choice is ours. We can surrender or, with the grace of the Holy Ghost and girded by the garments of spiritual warfare defined by St. Paul in Ephesians 6: 12-18, and in imitating Christ in all things, we can continue
Fighting for the Kingdom
"Qui legit, intelligat"  In Father Louis Campbell's sermon for the Thirteenth Sunday After Pentecost, he emphasizes how Sacred Scripture affirms how, what, Who, when, where and why God's Promises to mankind have been fulfilled and only in and through the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity Jesus Christ our Lord and Redeemer. In keying on today's Epistle of St. Paul to the Galatians and the Gospel of St. Luke in which only one returns to give thanks because only one truly believed and practiced what he believed, confirmed by Christ in His words "thy faith hath made thee whole," Father points out how the faith has waned in those overwhelmed by the three enemies of man: the world, the flesh and the devil which Father further identifies as prosperity, pleasure and power of those who may call themselves Catholic, think they are truly Christian, but in truth they have abandoned the infrangible tenets of the True Faith - the only Faith by which they can overcome sin through the divinely-ordained Sacrament of Penance. False prophets have arisen to pervert the meaning of Sacred Scripture whereby the vast majority are led to believe that Christian Zionism is the answer which contradicts Christ's Own words and all that is recorded in Holy Writ. The truth is that the Promises have been fulfilled and the only way to observe this is through the Church He established upon the Rock of Peter and the pure means of worship Christ instituted - the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Appropriately today is the feast of Pope Saint Pius X, the holy Vicar of Christ who lived these very Promises to the core and fervently promoted all things Catholic with his motto Instaurare in omnia Christo - "To Restore All Things in Christ." The Straight Stuff     The burning question has been posed by Griff Ruby that, through proper research and development, help determine the status of one who claims to be pope. With all the speculation running amok it remains similiar to the age-old question: Which came first? The chicken or the egg? The feathers are sure to fly whenever the question arises between sedevacantist and sedeplenist because there is no set formula or procedure for fully answering the unprecedented circumstances Catholics find themselves in today thanks to something no saint, holy Pontiff or Doctor of the Church ever envisioned: conciliarism. Griff proposes a procedure to help Traditional Catholics not end up with egg on their face or chicken out when syllogisms lead to the obvious in determining how we can define when, where, why, what, who, and how the current conciliar popes veered from the true Faith and into that void called conciliarism. Griff, standing by the code of unity in all things essential, freedom in discussing speculative theology which this essay covers, and charity in striving for the goal of what is best for the Mystical Body of Christ, intends to tweak the discussion as he develops the hypothesis of the process for determining, once and for all, what universally constitutes the decisive conclusion of deciphering between a true Pope and a false one. Traditional Thoughts   In honor of the holy Pontiff Pope St. Pius X whose Double Feast we celebrate on September 3rd as a commemoration to the Thirteenth Sunday After Pentecost this year - we highlight the only true Pope to be canonized since Pope Saint Pius V. We provide a detailed essay on his life and accomplishments for during his reign all was right within Holy Mother Church. It is true that outside the gates of Rome, the Modernists, Masons and Communists were plotting, but due to his strong pontificate they didn't dare show their heads, remaining in the shadows. One would have thought his strong decrees including the Oath Against Modernism and his encyclical on the dangers of Modernism Pascendi Dominici Gregis would have been enough to stave off what he referred to Modernism as the "Mother of all heresies," but then who would have thought Quo Primum would ever be tinkered with either. Nearly a century later we must remember the wisdom of this holy Pope and do all we can to restore all things in Christ - Instaurare in omnia Christo. Living in Tradition   The ides of September bring us the Feast of the Seven Sorrows or Dolors of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Editor Michael Cain shares a reflection on those seven sorrows and how they apply in this most sorrowful month of September when we remember tragedies of the recent past such as the terrible events of 9-11-01 and present day in the aftermath of the horrific Hurricane Katrina. When it seems there is no hope, we can learn much from the Mother of God if we turn in confidence to Our Lady, Mother of Sorrows for she is the Comfort of the Afflicted, Consolatrix afflictorum. The Sanity of Sanctity   We have been remiss over the past several months in bringing you the Litany of the Saints for each particular month. Thus, once again we resurrect this practice with all the saints honored in the Liturgy during this Month of the Mother of Sorrows. We encourage all to add this extra devotional prayer to your daily Rosary, helping you to remember all of the saints whose feast days are celebrated this month. Doctors of the Church   The final day of the month, following immediately the Double of the First Class Feast of the Dedication of St. Michael the Archangel, is the feast of the holy Doctor of the Church St. Jerome. He was born into a wealthy family and used those riches to receive the finest education at the hands of the world's greatest professors in Rome and then employed that wealth of knowledge for Christ's holy Church. He amassed all of the Scriptures and translated them into the Latin tongue, all wrapped up in the magnificent Latin Vulgate. This masterful Doctor, the "Father of the Mother Tongue" was Saint Jerome 
TOWER OF TRENT Tribute TOWER OF TRENT Tribute    We continue our individual Tributes to this year's inductees into the prestigious TOWER OF TRENT HALL OF HONOR with the two living recipients. The first to be honored during the week of August 9 through August 15 is the 61-year-old Society of St. Pius X Bishop from Sallanche in Haute-Savoie, France. He gained the votes, most likely not for his biography of Marcel Lefebvre, but rather because of an interview he gave at the time of the voting in which he spoke out publicly in calling Ratzinger to task for heresies written as a priest. He himself was ordained a priest by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre in 1975 he became a close confidant of the founder of the SSPX and was one of the four made a bishop in a time of Epikeia in the now famous Episcopal Consecrations of June 29, 1988 that prompted the conciliar church to distribute an illegal excommunication. Regardless of the conciliar interdict, Christ has said clearly how we will know them and that is by their fruits. Comparing the Society with the conciliar church it is clear to see where the fruits truly lie and they are not with the barren robber barons of Modernist Rome. TOWER OF TRENT Tribute    We continue our individual Tributes to this year's inductees into the prestigious TOWER OF TRENT HALL OF HONOR. This week's honoree is the little known, but devoted Cistercian monk Father Urban John Francis Snyder who shared prayer and penance with another well known monk of the Abbey of Gethsemani in Bardstown, Kentucky in the 50's - Father Louis, known to the world better as Thomas Merton. While the Cistercians today make their claim to fame on the infamous ecumenist Merton, it is Father Urban Snyder who truly has done proudly before God in the Cistercian Order, even though he left the Order for several years because of their penchant to embrace Modernism. No matter where his ministry was - whether in Kentucky, Rome, Econe where he helped his close friend Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre establish an English-speaking seminary there and later in the United States, or in Genesee, New York, where he spent his final years in solitude with his fellow monks, this mighty monk of bluegrass blood stood firm to Tradition just as St. Paul asserted. Doctors of the Church  In honor of his feast today, we present the holy wise one who was decreed the thirty-second Doctor of the Church. He was born near Naples and received a law doctorate in his teens. He had the world as his oyster and chose to cast his net into the sea in being a fisher of men. He founded an order dedicated to redeeming souls and he wrote volumes during a time when the enlightenment was already threatening the foundations of the Church. He vowed never to waste a moment and never did. He was the outstanding moral theologian who held the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass as the greatest gift any Catholic could partake in. He foretold the very crisis the Church is suffering today. He is considered the Patron Saint of Moral Theology and Confessors, two attributes and professions that are sorely deficient in holiness today. We would all do well to invoke his help during these trying trials of the Church and the world and remember this great saint, known far and wide as the "Keeper of the Moral Compass": Saint Alphonsus Liguori. Treasures of Tradition   On this feast of St. Peter in Chains, and in light of the Epistle and Gospel from this past Sunday, it is good to remember that we will all be held accountable for our stewardship and whether we have given in to the "mammon of iniquity." Too many times Traditionalists can get too self-righteous and therefore a piece like Father Paul Trinchard, S.T.L. has written is a necessary reminder of the rut we can all get in and why the petty bickering serves no one except satan and his minions. In order to break the chains we all need to pray for the grace of recognizing our fellow Traditionalists for what they truly strive to be and live: Catholics. Fr. Trinchard points out the fruitlessness of bickering about the little things while the main issue Traditionalists are in agreement with - the Immemorial Canonized Latin Mass - is undermined further by the conciliar church as countless 'Catholics' continue to applaud and follow the conciliar emperor, not realizing he has no clothes. In fact, considering the fruits as Christ said in the holy Gospel for the Seventh Sunday After Pentecost from St. Matthew 7: 15-21, one would surely say, this "emperor" is "fruitless" as well. This very word is ideal for describing the modernist church. What also is fruitless is for Traditionalists to continue to argue uncharitably over the little things. Father emphasizes that we all need to look at the bigger picture and unite in things essential as he explains in his article Traditionalists Give Traditionalists a Bad Name.
"Qui legit, intelligat" The Straight Stuff  Griff Ruby takes a break from his series The Way Back to the Mainstream to remind all not to lose heart. Griff points out that sooner or later there will be a mellowing within the Traditional Movement both because of the time factor and the continued exodus of those finally fed up with the abominations emanating from the conciliar church. In time and graces received, the ranks will swell and soon those "Johnny's-come-lately-to-Tradition" will be the "old-timers" of the movement. We can learn from our elders in the Movement and take encouragement from the enthusiasm of the youthful. The picture isn't as bleak as some may think even if - through eyes of our fallen human nature - the future might look hazy and dark thanks to the distortion wrought by the conciliar church, but, when we put our spiritual binoculars to the horizon, we know that the Restoration - the Resurrection of the Roman Catholic Church - is not only possible, viable and plausible, but a veritable fact. Few can judge the distance in linear time, but we can see clearly that Christ will put things well in focus and we just need to keep our eye on the Prize for all that is not of Him will fade away and the Holy Sacrifice will be restored universally when the abomination of desolation is discarded once and for all. Until then, as Griff advises, be patient. If we remain in the state of grace we can afford to wait and work toward conversion one at a time for as Griff says, "conversion is gradual, repentance is abrupt." Let's pray for the conciliarists' abruptness to come sooner rather than later. He explains in his column View to the Long Term. TOWER OF TRENT Tribute   We continue our individual Tributes to this year's inductees into the prestigious TOWER OF TRENT HALL OF HONOR. This week's honoree is the much beleaguered, persecuted and now exonerated Archbishop of Hue in Vietnam, a man who bridged the chasm between the Catholic patrimony of Popes Pius XI and Pius XII and the conciliar disintegration from John XXIII to John Paul II. As one reads Archbishop Pierre Martin Ngo-dinh-Thuc's story one can see he was truly a Soldier of Christ, as his Coat of Arms bears out - Miles Christi, and a Prisoner of War, both the War against Communism in Vietnam and the Church from the Pact of Metz on through his abduction, betrayed by his own people in a bone-chilling kidnapping that is the stuff of spies and foreign intrigue, all in collusion with the conciliarists in the curia and chanceries of New York, Boston and Springfield-Cape Girardeau. This editor feels an affinity not only to the Archbishop in his persevering for Christ and being persecuted for Christ as our Lord affirmed we would be in St. Matthew 5: 10-16 and St. John 15: 19-20, "If you had been of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember My word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept My words, they will keep yours also.", but also in the fact that where Archbishop Thuc died and is buried today is the very same grounds this editor called home for six years from September 1957 through May 1963. As you shall see here is the rest of the story with factual documentation to verify that what most have heard up until now is the revisionists' spin that paints the Archbishop as unstable. "Qui legit, intelligat"  In Father Louis Campbell's sermon for the Seventh Sunday After Pentecost, he focuses on all the hubbub and spin circulating in light of the attacks on Lebanon by Israel. Liberals and neo-cons are clamoring for America to back Israel no matter what and the false protestant prophets are pushing this agenda in their narrow-minded view that Israel is where Christ will return and build a new temple, a fallacy of the greatest distortion for Christ did come and the Jews rejected Him. Father points out St. Paul's words that all are one in Christ Jesus, there is no more Jew or Gentile. Yet those, who subscribe to the wages of sin, which Paul asserts in today's Epistle "are death", do not realize the Temple is in Heaven for Christ has conquered death and sin. Because the Jews and so many others, including many unsuspecting Novus Ordinarians, reject Him and all His Truths as well as the only Church He established until the end of time, they are rotten trees that will wither and will be thrown into the everlasting fire as Jesus affirms in today's Gospel from St. Matthew on the ravening wolves in sheep's clothing and how we will know them: "By their fruits." Since there are no good and everlasting fruits over the past 50 years, all the things those who work for humanistic goals -including all the conciliar popes who, in syncretic fashion, encourage false and pagan religions to pray for world peace to their gods on man's terms - are in vain for how can they attain the Kingdom of Heaven if they will not acknowledge Christ as King here on earth? TOWER OF TRENT Tribute   We begin our individual Tributes to this year's inductees into the prestigious TOWER OF TRENT HALL OF HONOR. We begin with one who was the last chosen but he was the first born - early in the 19th century no less, two centuries after his fellow Frenchman whose feast we celebrate today - Saint Vincent de Paul. The man we honor today with the Tower of Trent Trophy was a link to all that preceded him and those today who strive to preserve the traditions from the Traditional Latin Mass and the Propers of the Mass for the One-year Cycle which Holy Mother Church in her wisdom assigned for the welfare of the faithful. He is the venerable Benedictine Abbot of the Solesmes Abbey in France, whose inspiration and work practically single-handedly restored Gregorian Chant and provided the inspirational work that is considered the Summa of the Roman Liturgy - the fifteen-volume 7400 page The Liturgical Year. He was counselor to Popes Gregory XVI and Pius IX, and his work Mémoire sur L'Immaculée Conception served as the blueprint for Pius' Papal Bull Ineffabilis Deus declaring the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception. From the ashes of the French Revolution, this Heaven-sent Abbot resurrected the Benedictine Order where today the Congregation of Solesmes stands as the international center of Gregorian Chant. His work, eschewed by the conciliar church which has embraced the three-year cycle and watered down or altered the doctrines, has been embraced in recent years by Traditional Catholics everywhere for he has provided a treasure of the Canticles of Eternity. The Straight Stuff  Griff Ruby provides the third installment of his series The Way Back to the Mainstream as he concentrates on why Catholicism has something false religions cannot provide because, when push comes to shove, most people are looking for stability and sensibility to what life really means. There is only one Church which provides the answers and once Traditional Catholics stop sniping at each other, the path will be cleared to welcome many into Christ's True Church for everyday Modernist Rome is proving it is no longer Catholic. When our friends in the Novus Ordo finally are given the grace to realize this, when Protestants can no longer justify the errors of their origins, will we be ready to accommodate them? To answer their questions? To save their souls? Or will we Traditional Catholics still be bickering over petty things that don't amount to a hill of beans when salvation is at stake? It's the Mass. the sacred Priesthood, and the infrangible doctrines taught for nearly 2000 years. Griff explains how the stability of Doctrine and the Traditional Latin Mass are the unifying points. If we pray, we can be ready for the rush, but only if we are united in purpose as he points out in his column The Appeal of Catholicism and Hindrance Number 1. While that may or may not remain a theory, another second-hand smoke is no theory and that is the second-hand smoke of satan that manifests itself in something called "Second-hand Catholicism" which takes away the absolute substance and replaces the infrangible truths of Catholicism with a saccharine semblance of 'Catholicism' that is totally foreign to all that was taught up to 1958. Especially over the last 40 years this devastating second-hand smoke has been wafting up, choking and infecting countless millions, not so much affecting lungs, but souls. The smoke of satan has slithered in and penetrated every aspect of the Church where the only way to not be contaminated is by donning the anti-contamination 'suits' of Traditional Catholicism and remaining in the state of Sanctifying Grace. Only in this way can one avoid the terrible, harmful and devastating effects of this sinister smoke unleashed at Vatican II. "Second-hand Catholicism" Is Dangerous to Your Eternal Salvation. "Qui legit, intelligat"  In Father Louis Campbell's sermon for the Sixth Sunday After Pentecost, he focuses on today's Epistle from St. Paul to the Romans in which the Apostle to the Gentiles reminds us of what is necessary to have eternal life. We must be crucified with Christ for there can be no victory without the Cross, no resurrection of the body unless we die to sin and shroud our souls in the white linen of sanctifying grace. Those who persist in altering the Commandments to meet their instant gratifications or wayward thinking that man can reach Heaven outside of Holy Mother Church are in for a big surprise come Judgment time when our Lord will say, 'depart from me, you workers of iniquity, for I know ye not.' Father reminds us of what St. Peter admonished in his very first sermon 'save yourselves from this perverse generation' and perverse man has become because he has not paid heed to Peter's other words about the wiles of the devil who goes about like a roaring lion seeking whom he might devour. Those not wanting to be the next meal for this mangy beast would do well to heed the words of Sacred Scripture and learn; something the conciliar church has refused to do in continuing down the course of no return in promoting universal salvation. Woe be to them as Father points out in his sermon in which he echoes St. Peter's words recorded by St. Luke to "save yourselves from"
