The Story of Christmas

by
Abbe Dom Prosper Gueranger

There are few more inspiring reflections on the liturgical seasons than the wise and holy abbot Dom Prosper Gueranger, author of the magnificent The Liturgical Year. Here he briefly explains the significance of the season of Christmastide from December 25 through February 2, the feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Presentation of our Lord in the Temple. Four days following the conclusion of Christmastide in 2008, we are at Ash Wednesday for Lent comes very early in the new Liturgical Year. The abbe's reflections will hopefully wake many to the treasures of our Faith. See, Christmastide

During this time of the Twelve Days of Christmas we continue our special drive which, if we do not raise enough funds, we will have to pare back drastically on the frequency of publishing The DailyCatholic in 2009. It is easy to say "yes, we're all in favor of the restoration of Holy Mother Church" but we need you to put your money where your heart is. The DailyCatholic exists solely through donations with no salaries to anyone, and this year, we're it not for a few regular contributors, and we do mean "few" The DailyCatholic would have shut down. Many write saying how much The DailyCatholic means to them, but so few show their appreciation with a love offering. Yes, we are in tough economic times, but have you ever thought the reason we are is because many have hoarded their money instead of helping those working in God's vineyard? Won't you please show your Christmas spirit by helping? You can click on the button above or use the address below to show how much you really believe in the Traditional Catholic cause.

It is a tradition to take blessed chalk and mark the top frame of the front door of your home with the letters you see above. The Roman Numeral MMIX is for the 2009. Below that write G for Gaspar, then a plus sign (+) then 20 and another plus sign (+) then M for Melchior followed by another plus sign (+) then 09 and finally another plus sign (+) and B for Balthazar.
We'll return on January 7 with more information concerning the direction of The DailyCatholic for 2009.
