Tracy DowlingWe are delighted to have Tracy Alig Dowling contributing to our biography vignettes for the TOP 100 CATHOLICS OF THE CENTURY series. She submitted such interesting background on her voting choices that we enlisted her to assist us in contributing to some of the biographies and she graciously agreed. Little did we know at the time that she is an award-winning free-lance writer and researcher from the Washington, DC area. That is a bonus for DAILY CATHOLIC readers. A graduate of St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana, with a Master of Fine Arts from American University in Washington, DC, Tracy has published numerous reviews, articles, short stories, and poems for Washington area and national periodicals. Her work has appeared in America , Forefront , Image, The Critic and The Washington Post, and she is also the author and literary editor of the art-travel book "The Silk Road." Tracy is currently working on a novel and a collection of short stories, and in private life is the wife of architect Seamus P. Dowling, and mother of two brilliant children, Eamon and Greta. Among her attributes is a sense of humor that comes to the surface especially in her maternal moments when she talks of her kids, "Just because I'm not a Jewish mother," she says "doesn't mean I can't act like one." |
