The 85th person selected out of the TOP 100 CATHOLICS OF THE CENTURY is Dr. Rosalie Turton, the founder of the 101 Foundation in Washington, New Jersey. After a teaching career in upstate New York colleges, she has devoted her life to teaching the messages Jesus and His Blessed Mother are conveying to God's children in these end times of the millennium. The 84th person selected out of the TOP 100 CATHOLICS OF THE CENTURY is Father Edward Joseph Flanagan, the Irish-born priest who saw a need to help those less fortunate, especially young orphaned and troubled boys in the early part of this century. The result was Boys Town in Omaha, Nebraska which today is a sprawling independent municipality on 900 acres as well as satellite sites around the world. The 83rd person selected out of the TOP 100 CATHOLICS OF THE CENTURY is John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, the Englishman whose imagination and love for his children and all of God's children motivated him to become the master of fantasy in the twentieth century, long before the modern fantasies of Jim Henson and his "Muppets" or George Lucas and his "Star Wars" trilogy. This Oxford professor and convert conveyed his spirituality in his works with a subtle subliminalism that cried out God exists. He has left his grandchildren and children everywhere young and old a legacy of fantasy that helps all decipher the difference between the forces of good and evil. The 82nd person selected out of the TOP 100 CATHOLICS OF THE CENTURY is Thomas Merton, the famous Trappist monk from the Abbey of Gethsemani in Bardstown, Kentucky who became world renowned for his writings, particularly his best-selling "The Seven Storey Mountain" which chronicled his life and struggles in reaching his position as a monk. In later life he delved into eastern mysticism in an attempt to meld European Christianity with the contemplative, meditative heights reached through Zen. The 81st person selected out of the TOP 100 CATHOLICS OF THE CENTURY is Archbishop Jean-Louis Tauran, the French prelate who has quietly risen to the third most powerful position in the Vatican as the Secretary for Relations with States. He has circled the globe, representing the Holy See in dealing with kings and queens, presidents and premiers, chiefs and emperors, rebels and despots in every trouble spot in the world, always upholding the Sanctity of Life and the dignity of the human being. The 80th person selected out of the TOP 100 CATHOLICS OF THE CENTURY is Rosemary "Dana" Brown Scallon, devoted wife and mother of four, who in mid-life put a successful singing career on hold while running for president of Ireland in an attempt to restore true Catholic values to her beloved emerald isle. She is internationally known for her chart-busting music as well as her dynamic programs on EWTN and for the special, very popular songs specifically composed for the Pope which she has performed during four different papal visits.
