PADRE PIO -- CANONIZED IN 2001?ROME, OCT 7 (ZENIT).- Padre Pio, who was beatified by John Paul II last May 2, could be canonized in the year 2001. According to the British newspaper, "The Catholic Herald," at present there are two miracles being investigated in Rome attributed to the Capuchin friar's intercession. The approval of one of these, by the commissions of scientists, theologians and Cardinals, would be sufficient for the proclamation of Padre Pio's sanctity. "The Catholic Herald" pointed out that one of the miracles is the case of a 22 year old Sicilian, who recovered from an irreversible coma after his family and friends prayed for the Capuchin friar's intercession. The second case, is that of a Neapolitan man who was unexpectedly cured from the paralysis of one side of his body; this was also attributed to Padre Pio's intercession. ZE991000612
