PRAYER & DEVOTIONS
Today, in honor of the Apostles Saint Philip and Saint James we present the Preface for the Mass:
It is truly right and just, almighty God, to honor and praise You on the feast of the apostles Philip and James. Having heard the voice that made them disciples of Christ, they followed His life and teaching with such fidelity that they were able to know You, O Father, and to contemplate Your face openly. Confirmed in their faith in the resurrection of the Master, they became eloquent and faithful witnesses of the gospel. Our assembly also, gathered here in Your name and for Your glory, is inspired by their teaching and by the redemption that Your everlasting love has offered to the human race.
Medjugorje Monthly Message for APRIL 25th
Dear children! Also today I call you to prayer. Little children, be joyful carriers of peace and love in this peaceless world. By fasting and prayer, witness that you are mine and that you live my messages. Pray and seek! I am praying and interceding for you before God that you convert; that your life and behavior always be Christian. Thank you for having responded to my call.

Meditative Lessons on the Glorious Mysteries
In Chapter 13, The Ascension of Jesus we see, through interior vision, Our Lord gathering those close to Him as He prepares for His final miracle on earth - His glorious Ascension into Heaven to return to the Father. These are some of the things the Blessed Mother shares with us through the interior vision imparted to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart after Pentecost 1993. They are meant to inspire and prompt a greater understanding of the Glorious Mysteries. For part one of Chapter 13, click on "MY LORD AND MY GOD!"

The Path to Conversion begins with the universal call for holiness
Following up a year after the Bishops of North, Central and South America, along with the Caribbean contingent, met for the month-long Synod of the Americas in Rome at the end of 1997, Pope John Paul II officially closed the Synod with his Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation Ecclesia in America at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine in Mexico City in January 1999. Because of its significance for all Americans, we bring you this important document in several installments over the next few months. We must grasp the truth and hold on
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the words of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen have been known to launch a thousand images in one's mind, one of the ways this late luminary did so much to evangelize the faith. Because of the urgency of the times and because few there are today who possess the wisdom, simplicity and insight than the late Archbishop who touched millions, we are bringing you daily gems from his writings. The good bishop makes it so simple that we have dubbed this daily series: "SIMPLY SHEEN".
"The discovery of truth can be very embarassing. For example, to awaken at night to discover that we are really very selfish and egotistic. Truth brings with it great responsibilities; that is why so many keep their hands open to welcome it, but never close them to grasp it."
Events in Church History
On this date in 328, which is 1,671 years ago, the mother of Constantine the Great and the woman who found the true Cross of Christ in Jerusalem - Saint Helena died after returning to Rome. "Let My radiance be the light which the world sees in you! If you have Me, you have everything!"
Those words from Our Lord were imparted to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart on the feast of Corpus Christi in Message #504 on June 5, 1994 in which Jesus calls all His children to worship Him in the Blessed Sacrament, to bend our knees to Him and only Him as our Lord and God. He prefaces this thought in His Message #503 two days before by asking all to be faithful to Him and receive Him as often as possible in the Sacraments. In retrospect one year from this message in 1995, the messages from Our Lord and His Blessed Mother would come to an end for the Hidden Flower after receiving over six hundred for the world from September 1990 until the feast of Corpus Christi in 1995. Massive numbers turn out for spectacular beatification ceremonies for Padre Pio
It is being considered the most popular beatification in the history of the Church. We are talking, of course, of Padre Pio's beatification yesterday in Rome when Pope John Paul II proclaimed him blessed to overwhelming cheers from 200,000 faithful overflowing from a packed St. Peter's Square and squeezing into St. John Lateran Square plus hundreds of thousands more at Padre Pio's home monastery of San Giovanni Rotundo, all of which had closed circuit satelitte feeds televising the event in which the Pope himself related his personal experiences with the mystical saint-to-be. Georgetown University trying to squeeze out all Catholic tradition with firings and liberal agendas
The Jesuit University in the shadow of the White House and Capitol Hill is once again under fire for compromising Catholic ideals in favor of political correctness - the in-thing inside the beltline. But students and traditional Catholics are not taking this lying down and are protesting Georgetown's obvious liberal leanings and shedding of Catholic orthodox teaching, something the Society's founder Saint Ignatius Loyola would be turning over in his grave regarding how low this once proud institution of higher learning has sunk. East Timor on brink of violence vendetta Portuguese envoys report
Inhabited and ruled for more than a century by Catholic Portugal before Muslim Indonesia annexed East Timor, Portuguese authorities returning from a fact-finding tour of the island have expressed alarm and a warning that violence is about to erupt in catastrophic terms in East Timor because of unrest and the arming of the Indonesian army, a militant group with no scruples or discipline. Bishop and faithful reconciled to play it in Peoria; it it plays there it should play in all other dioceses as well
If it plays in Peoria, it should play in all other dioceses as well for Bishop John J. Myers is one of the new breed of traditional, loyal bishops appointed by Pope John Paul II as Bishop of Peoria, Illinois to reignite tongues of fire under and over the faithful. One way is to resuscitate the Sacraments, emphasizing first the Sacrament of Reconciliation by employing a task force to find out how Catholics can better take advantage of this wonderful sacrament and implement these suggestions within the diocese.
