Yesterday speaks of hindsight, what we could have done. Yesterday speaks of wrongs not righted. Had they been corrected we would not long so to return to the truths your offices once upheld. Yesterday cries for recognition of the error of your ways today. Yesterday the Triune Divinity knows nearly 50 million souls who, though dedicated, never had a chance (cf. Jeremiah 1: 5). Why? Because God's consecrated successors of His hand-chosen Apostles refused to uphold His laws. Yesterday your intentions were purer, yesterday your goals loftier, yesterday your means noble; today they are sullied, lowered and ignoble. Yesterday the path was straighter towards Heaven; today it is detoured, twisted, a mangled maize.

Mercy and Sacrifice

    In the immediate yesterday Roman Catholics attended Mass throughout the world. For a great many of them they were unaware that it is still the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. They may even have been unaware it was Divine Mercy Sunday, a day established last year by Pope John Paul II as a universal feast in the Church calendar on the Sunday after Easter. Perhaps you failed to inform your flocks.

    In Shakespeare's "Merchant of Venice", Act IV, Scene 1 he writes, "We do pray for mercy; and that same prayer doth teach us all to render the deeds of mercy." This comes from Jesus, for through His Infinite Mercy, He longs to bring souls to His Sacred Heart, washed in the loving pool of Divine Mercy from the font at the foot of the Cross where He shed His last ounce of blood; and yet, when the centurion lanced His Heart rather than breaking Christ's legs in keeping with the scripture that no bone would be broken, out gushed both blood and water.

    We know from our Catholic teaching that water is a key component in both Baptism and the Holy Eucharist (cf. 1 John 5: 5-9). The water is mixed with the wine and, when confected, becomes in the transubstantiation at the Consecration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass when the priest pronounces the words - "Hic est enim Calix Sanguinis Mei, Novi et Aeterni Testamenti: Mysterium Fidei: Qui pro vobis et pro multis effundetur in remissionem peccatorum" - "For this is the Chalice of My Blood of the New and Eternal Testament, the Mystery of Faith; Which shall be shed for you and for many unto the remission of sins." - the Sacred Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, soul and divinity. It is not a symbol, not a representation, but truly Christ in the flesh - present in the bread and wine as the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity. He is truly present. From this everlasting Beacon His Love and Mercy are poured forth upon the whole world. The Holy Mass is the most powerful example of His Love and Mercy; it is the single most significant event we can partake in. It is the Sacrifice of Calvary remembered in an unbloody manner.

    But there is another sacrifice which takes place every day in a sacred place as well, one that cries out for Mercy and none is given; one that is not at all pallid, but very, very bloody. This occurs, sadly, at an alarming rate outnumbering the rate of Masses said each day. This bloody event is, of course, the abortion in the womb, prior to 1973 a refuge for nourishment and development of tissues and organs. Today it has been made a legal horror chamber that defies all logic, all decency. "O call back yesterday, bid time return." Oh, if only we could!

    The evil of this hideous holocaust is something Roman Catholic Doctrine has stated is an absolute. No one has the right to take another's life. Rome has said so. But, evidently the majority of you, dear bishops, haven't taken it too seriously. You see God has said it's wrong; Rome has said it's wrong; natural law says it's wrong. But, the Democratic Party has said otherwise. Through the narrow-minded liberal ideology of such Supreme Court justices the holocaust of the womb was made legal in 1973 with the Roe vs. Wade decision. Ever since then nearly 50 million innocent pre-born souls have been slaughtered by murderers empowered by the Democratic Party. "O call back yesterday, bid time return." Oh, if only we could!

    We have done extensive research and have found in the House of Representatives only four Catholic Democrats who, like St. George, refused to obey the Diocletians of insanity. Those four are James Traficant of Ohio, Chris John of Louisiana, James Barcia and Bart Stupak both of Michigan. That's it! Those are the only Democrats in the House who have a 100% Pro-Life record. Those four men are truly principled, unlike the rest of their Party colleagues who call themselves 'Catholic.' In the Democratic House you have four just men and fifty-four others who call themselves 'Catholics,' but their sorrowful Pro-Life records belie that fact completely!

What are you afraid of?

    And who, pray tell, is going to rein those fifty-four in? not to mention a handful of governors and thirteen senators? We would hope and pray that duty would fall on those who are the successors of the Apostles. That would be you, dear bishops. Yet nothing has been done. Too few priests have spoken out as well. Only a remnant of the laity - small voices crying in the wilderness - have said, enough is enough! Since Ash Wednesday we have been begging you to do what is right, to alert misinformed 'Catholics' that they are in grave violation of Catholic Doctrine and Canon Law by promoting the culture of death. And what, praytell, has been the response from you, our shepherds? Nada.

    Perhaps a letter from Father Peter J. West of Priests for Life will help clarify what we're up against. He gives great insight into the reason plain and simple why the 'Democratic Party in Miters' - aka NCCB-USCC - has done nothing. He writes: "Excommunication of pro-abortion politicians is a strategy that many in the pro-life movement favor. Apparently the American Bishops are afraid it will turn them into "martyrs" and do more harm than good."

    I repeat that line as incredulous as it sounds: "Apparently the American Bishops are afraid it will turn them into 'martyrs' and do more harm than good."

    Can you believe that? We are told you are afraid of being persecuted! Are you sure these are the successors of the Apostles were talking about? From everything I've always believed, the only Apostle not martyred was Saint John who would have willingly. Yet our modern miters are afraid!? No wonder our beloved Church is in such a shambles.

    Now let's breakdown the last part of Fr. West's sentence: "...and do more harm than good." Think about it. What if the early Christians had felt that way. "Oh, no, we can't spread the faith because we might be martyrs." What if St. George had said, "Sure, Diocletian, I don't agree that you're killing so many, but I don't want to be a martyr so I'll go along with the program!"? What if our dear Lord, in a moment of human pain, had said it hurts too much and decided to abandon His mission? We know He would never have done that, but we also know that men consecrated to Him and bestowed with the gifts passed down from the Apostles to bring others to holiness wouldn't do that either. Oh wait, maybe today they would. Remember the bishops who abandoned Rome to avoid persecution and martyrdom at the hands of Henry VIII? What do you think Saint Thomas More would say about the bishops' inaction today? If that isn't selling out to Rome I don't know what is. Where are our holy men to lead us?

    Yet, in the spirit of Mercy, in giving the American bishops the benefit of the doubt, we have not yet reached Pentecost Sunday. That is the day when the Apostles were empowered by the Holy Spirit; when they put away any fears of being persecuted or martyred because they knew intuitively that not to would do more harm than good. They knew that they had nothing to fear for Jesus was with them and He had left His Spirit - not just to them but to those consecrated ones who would be their successors all the way up to 2001 and beyond.

    Tell me, dear bishops, has that Spirit - the Holy Ghost up and gone away? No, He is with us always. We all know that. So what, your Eminences and Excellencies, in God's name, are you so afraid of? Is it reprisal from the Democratic Party? On the surface it would seem so from how you have allowed them to intimidate you. Men of holiness are never intimidated; men of holiness place God's laws above all else; men of holiness seek to bring all into the fold but not to compromise the Faith; men of holiness are loyal to their calling; men of holiness are merciful but also just; men of holiness are not of this world and seek to lead through their example; men of holiness do not make excuses; men of holiness defend the great Deposit of the Faith with no exceptions; men of holiness care little for worldly trappings or glory; men of holiness seek to emulate the Apostles and the saints in every way in bringing sinners to grace. One cannot be brought to grace if one continues to sin! Where, oh where, are our holy men to lead us?

Where is the fruit?

    Why is it so sad that today the faithful can count on two hands the good bishops? Because so few treasure holiness. So few of the faithful have failed to realize Christ's words in Matthew 7: 15-18,20 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. By their fruits you will know them. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore, by their fruits you will know them." I ask you, dear bishops, where is the fruit?

    Truth be told, when you peel away the mask there is nothing of substance. And why? Because you have eroded your rightful authority by not using it! We've heard ad nauseum that we must be patient and urge the sinner in love. Consider, dear bishops, if parents kept telling their children not to do something, even laying out rules and why (as you did in "Living the Gospel of Life") but they continue to ignore the parental authority, continue to do what they want because the other kids they know are doing it and it's alright with their folks. After awhile, even patience and love will not convince the children to obey because your words have carried no consequence. Your authority would carry no clout. We have laws in our secular society and in the Church. When those laws are violated there are consequences that the offenders must accept. According to the bishops' mindset, we should continue to be patient with these children and guide them in love. Is it love to allow them to offend God? Is it love to not correct them? Is it love to not punish them if they do not obey? Is it love to allow them to lose their eternal soul? So how long would you think those parents should "patiently wait in love" for their children to obey their authority? Would you say 28 years? That's ridiculous isn't it, waiting that long? But, dear bishops, that's how long you have waited. And while you wait, more souls die. Are you willing to continue this waiting game and explain it to God when He calls you to judgment?

"Defer no time, delays have dangerous ends"

    That quote comes from the play "Henry VIII" by Shakespeare and it portends to what we are talking about. If you really want to do more harm than good, then defer time, go ahead and continue to delay, procrastinate if you insist. But be forewarned "delays have dangerous ends!" Yes, dear bishops, the clock continues to tick for all of us in this life. It especially ticks for you because of the responsibilities you have been given. Delay no further.

    For eleven years we have dedicated our ministry to upholding the truths of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. Over this period of time and before we have seen and documented often the eroding of the great Deposit of the Faith in your careless watch, in your silent consent, in your failure to live up to your calling. You have let us down. We are saddened that there are so few who truly exemplify the Apostles. You have greatly disappointed us in your tolerance for the world, the flesh and the devil and your intolerance towards those who seek to preserve the Traditions and treasures of our Faith, the most precious gift we have been given as Roman Catholics. We have seen why there is so much confusion, so much chastisement. How can the faithful be obedient and holy when their shepherds are not obedient and holy?

    This year we decided we could no longer sit back and allow more lives to be lost in the womb, more souls committed to insufferable time in Purgatory, even more to the regions of hell because you were not doing your duty before God. The buck stops at the top and that means you, dear bishops. Since Ash Wednesday we have gone to great lengths in time and cost to expose those pro-abort politicians who claim to be 'Catholic' and yet cause great scandal by this claim in their actions. What is even the greater scandal is your failure to enforce. This, dear bishops, is a very grave sin; the severity of which can and will only be determined by the Almighty Judge. Yet, you are to set the example for us. If the Apostles had acted in the manner you are, I fear Christianity would never have gotten off the ground!

The price of sinking in order to keep the Faith afloat

    Our apostolate of The DAILY CATHOLIC - which is reaching millions but is on life-support financially - is struggling to stay afloat in this ever-increasing inflated material world where values are dying. While you intimidate your flock to tithe so you can build more stark, expensive edifices to modernism and continue the subliminal message that sins are not really sins, the teachings of Holy Mother Church are not absolutes and allow the progressivists to dismantle our beloved Faith with a psuedo-theology of 'we are Christs,' we, like countless other faithful sites, struggle to stay on-line. The costs may take their toll, we may not be able to keep the IHS DailyCatholic afloat by itself. But if we are submerged by the lack of funds, then be assured we will not sink in vain. Like in the critical time of growth where the seeds of the martyrs became the seeds of Christianity, so also the glub of our sinking will become the wave of dedicated survivors who will cling to the life-preservers of the unchangeable doctrines in waiting for the Barque of Peter to rescue those plashing about in the lukewarm waters of the Church in America.

    As the typhoons build, the torrents lash at our hulls but we press on. We are past the half-way point between Ash Wednesday and Pentecost Sunday. While you sit there or pontificate without employing the God-given clout you have been entrusted with, millions more innocents are murdered in the womb, millions more continue their sinful ways thinking all along that they're not sinning because the bishops haven't done anything so it must be alright. By doing nothing you are giving consent to more sins, to more abuses, to more deaths of the body and the soul! (cf. Matthew 10: 28).

    This Wednesday, the Feast of Saint Mark, another martyr, the House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on the Bill to Recognize Unborn Children as Victims of Violent Federal Crimes. Though the bill does not directly deal with abortion, it has been vehemently attacked by pro-abort groups - read Democrats. Its passage would go a long way toward changing hearts and helping pave the way for a culture of life that you keep saying you want. But by your actions you betray your intent. If this bill fails could it be on your heads? Remember, we will all be judged by how we lived, how we influenced, by the example we set in living the Gospel of Life. Are you truly living what you preach? "Defer no time, delays have dangerous ends"

    With all due respect, dear bishops, the time for talk is past; it is now time for action. You have failed the mid-terms miserably. Pro-life advocates and Catholics who truly care and strive to live their Faith have no choice but to administer an "F" grade. However, this is only temporary. The final grade will be what counts. For every man who wears a miter, who wears a Roman Collar, it is time to start cramming because God is going to ask some mighty tough questions. The key to passing will be if you have the right answers. So far you haven't.

    Yet we know that of those pro-aborts covered thus far, every immediate bishop has been contacted by more than one person. It is not as if you don't know. That excuse doesn't wash anymore, dear bishops. By Pentecost we will have completed the list of pro-abort politicians who claim to be 'Catholic.' If you refuse, dear bishops, to act as you should - to discipline these offenders, then be prepared to find your own names on the nefarious "Herod's Heroes" list. We aren't kidding. If we go under, be assured we will get the names to other sites who can carry on. The voices are growing. The outrage is growing. How long can you be still? As you read this, you might very well be saying: "O call back yesterday, bid time return." But alas, the only way is to right the wrongs for you must admit there's "something rotten in Denmark" and, with each passing day, you surely must realize ever harder the task at hand. The longer you tardy, the more dangerous the end. "Defer no time, delays have dangerous ends."
