If only we had known..!
That refrain so often follows times of regret. We are in that state now.
Many think it's too late to stop the auto-demolition of the Church and are resigned to accepting the ambiguities and absurdities, but we beg to differ and trace the problems back to the summer of '63 - those times that few realized were truly the lazy-hazy-crazy days!
In our commentary for early August, we take you back to the summer of 1963 and the turning point between the age of innocence and the age of deceit and abandonment of the values and principles the Church had always stood for. In the Holy See there was a changing of the Keeper of the Keys. The changing of the guard had already occurred with the death of Pope Pius XII in 1958. Few realized the undercurrent of rebellion that was already at work in 1963, a revolt spurred on by those very theologians Pius had rightly exiled for their scandal and heresy. The coals of destruction were stoked even higher by the American bishops in the 60's who cared little for their flocks or God's holy will. They purposely fanned the fires for doing away with religious life in favor of "religious freedom - freedom of conscience." 38 years later the American bishops are still undermining the Faith. Those are the words of Denver's Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, OFM Cap. one prelate who is not afraid to speak out. Regardless of the consequences, he is one of the few American bishops you can count on to speak the truths of the absolutes of the Roman Catholic Church. Pope's Intentions for August
The Pope's General Intention for August 2001 is Legislators and leaders whose decisions are guided by God. How timely considering the stone-walling by the American bishops in calling legislators and leaders to task and the impending decision by President George W. Bush on whether to sign the death warrant for America by allowing federal funding for embryonic stem cell research, or to do the right thing which the Pope urged him to do during his face to face meeting last week. The Holy Father's Missionary intention is Use of China's own great tradtion to enrich the spirituality of the Church in China. On this intention we must pray for China shows little signs of permitting religious freedom despite the rhetoric.
  
Major Feast Days for the first week of August
August dawns with the Feast of Saint Alphonsus Liguori, Bishop, Doctor of the Church and Religious Founder. On Friday we honor the great confessor Saint John Vianney, the Cure d'Ars and the epitome of what a parish priest should be. On Monday the universal Church celebrates the Feast of the Transfiguration of Our Lord. For these major feasts, see August.

A meeting of holy minds and hearts in the celestial mansions
We are proud to introduce today yet another feature that will run regularly in these pages beginning on August 6th. It is called Saints Preserve us! and it will serve as a vehicle to hear from the saints on topics that Catholics are confronted with today in endeavoring to live their Faith. These will be panel discussions of three different saints each time, always moderated by the universal patron of the Church Saint Joseph. A noble effort to resurrect a vital and vibrant culture that has been forgotten by the past few generations
We are privileged to bring you in our next issue two of the finest, most respected writers in the Traditional movement today. They are Atila Sinke Guimarães, the Brazilian born scholar who has dedicated his life to getting to the truth, traveling throughout Europe, the Americas and other areas of the world in uncovering the facts, and Marian Therese Horvat, the knowledgable historian whose crusade, along with Atila's and all committed Catholics, is to return the Church to a sense of the sacred and reverence by awakening in the faithful the need for adherence to the absolutes and disciplines expected and demanded by Our Lord. The Message, Meaning & Medals of Rue de Bac
The Age of Marian Apparitions began in 1830 at Rue de Bac. Now this time of Our Lady's visits are coming to a close. Godincidentally her messages all tie in with the visions to Saint Catherine Laboure and the completion of the Medal of the Virgin of the Globe per Mary's request for a medal to be cast depicting her offering a golden globe to the Heavenly Father from all her children as the Advocate, Mediatrix and CoRedemptrix.
