HEROD'S HELPERS

Pictured above left to right:
Congressman Richard Neal, 2nd District, Massachusetts
Congressman Joe Moakley, 9th District, Massachusetts

This series, appropriately titled "Herod's Heroes," is intended to separate the wheat from the chaff by revealing those men and women, for whom the citizens have voted, and who are not upholding the ideals God expects of His children. We cannot condone sin, and they are promoting the most vile of sin by being accomplices to the slaughter of millions of innocents in the womb. That is why, like the Judean king of Christ's time, who, out of political expediency and jealousy, tried to eliminate the Messiah by killing the first-born of every family, so also they are helping satan in killing God's precious ones sacrificed at the altar of the convenience of modern life. These "Herod's Heroes" are under the totally false misconception that a woman has the right to do with her body as she wants. Wrong! It is not hers, but rather God's. The body we have is merely a shell to hold our soul. The soul is forever; the body, as we are reminded on Ash Wednesday, will return to dust. Christ has said in Matthew 10: 28, "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather be afraid of him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."

HEROD'S HELPERS

We have completed those congressional pro-abort 'Catholics' from Massachusetts, but before we feature the governor tomorrow, we want to alert you to two who, because their voting record is above the mendoza line, might slip under the radar of being pro-aborts. However, because they are Catholic, because they are not fully committed, they hurt the cause for the Sanctity of Life. Therefore they could be correctly called "Herod's Helpers" because they empower the culture of death by their lukewarmness. It is this which Our Lord has said can be so devastating, "I know thy works; thou art neither cold nor hot. I would that thou wert cold or hot. But because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I am about to vomit thee out of My mouth; because thou sayest, 'I am rich and have grown wealthy and have need of nothing,' and dost not know that thou art the wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked one" (Apocalypse 3: 15-17).

Do they really want to be considered in such a manner by God Almighty Himself? Below we list three who, by their record, show such a tendancy. We urge you to write them and share your concern and love that they would commit themselves with their entire heart, mind and soul for the culture of life.

Representative Richard Neal

Born in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1949 and raised there Catholic, Richard E. Neal is the Democratic Representative in the U.S. House for the 2nd District which covers the area from the Connecticut River Valley in the west to the Blackstone River Valley in the east bordering the New York border on the south and covering the lower part of central Massachusetts. A graduate of American International College in 1972, he earned his MPA in 1976 from the University of Hartford before being elected to the Springfield City Council and then eventually Mayor of the city in 1985 until 1989, when he was elected to the House for the 2nd Congressional District. He is now in his 7th term on Capitol Hill. Living in Springfield, he comes under the jurisdiction of Bishop Thomas Ludger Dupre, Bishop of Springfield.

Neal's pro-abort voting record is 50%. Though he voted for the Partial Birth Abortion Ban, his record is an excellent example of being a fence-sitter and that can be alarming, feeding into the political correctness of leaning toward the culture of death. Remind him that as a true Roman Catholic he must uphold all the teachings of the Catholic Church and Rome's mandate of upholding life in all stages. Does he really want to empower the culture of death? He will have to answer to God for any transgressions against Christ's innocent ones as Jesus says in Matthew 25: 45, "'Amen I say to you, as long as you did not do it for one of these least ones, you did not do it for Me.' And these will go into everlasting punishment, but the just into everlasting life."

We ask him to help turn the Democratic Party away from the culture of death and the immoral organization it has become under the evil leadership of Bill Clinton whose immoral standards he has defended without merit or credibility. We ask him to help bring the Party back to the glory days when the Party stood for decency and right. Today the Democratic Party is so far Left that its members, who continue to promote abortion - murder in the womb - could very well be left out at the Heavenly gates when their time comes.

Is Congressman Neal truly aware of that? You can e-mail Congressman Richard Neal and, in love, ask him yourself. Remind him what Jesus asserts in Matthew 16: 26-27, "For what does it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, but suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man is to come with His angels in the glory of His Father, and then He will render to everyone according to his conduct." Is Crowley's political career more important than the welfare of his soul? Ask him. His e-mail is ma02@legislators.com

Congressman Joe Moakley

It is really sad that this Democratic Representative from South Boston should ever be on this list of Herod's Helpers. Though his pro-abort voting record is 27%, it should be 0%. John Joseph Moakley should have a 100% Pro-Life record regardless of the fact he is a member of the pro-abort Party. He is from the old school. He was raised on the tenets of absolutes. At 15 he heard Uncle Sam's call during World War II and enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served in the South Pacific. Returning to the States after the war, he enrolled at the University of Miami. But the siren of Boston's shipyards lured him back home and, while working during the day, he earned his law degree at night, receiving his JD from Suffolk University Law School in 1956. At 25 he was elected to State Legislature, first the State House for eight years, and then the State Senate for six more years.

In 1971 he ran for and was elected Councilman for Ward 7 on the Boston City Council..A year later he was elected to the House from the 9th District of Massachusetts where he has been a fixture ever since. He is now in his 15th term. After his first term he became a member of the powerful House Rules Committee. This was a seat formerly held by former Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill, Moakley's mentor. He became Chairman of the Rules Committee in 1989. That same year he was appointed to head a special task force to investigate the murder of six Jesuit priests and two Catholic lay women. His findings resulted in collusion by the Salvadoran military and it ended all U.S. military aid to El Salvador, helping bring an end to the terrible civil war in that Central American country.

With his close association to the clergy and knowing Church teaching, there is no excuse why he does not have a 100% Pro-Life voting record. To his credit he voted to ban partial-birth abortions and many pro-abort measures he has voted against. Yet his 73% Pro-Life voting record could be so much better because of the leadership he exhibits and he could set the standard.

He has to realize the Democratic Party is not the one he grew up with.

His shepherd is Cardinal Bernard Law of the Archdiocese of Boston. Moakley can remember other red-hats who governed the Boston See, men like Cardinal William O'Connell, Cardinal Richard Cushing and Cardinal Humberto Medieros. We ask you to help reaffirm in his mind, heart and soul the need to be totally committed to the Sanctity of Life, to uphold the tenets of the Church he knows so well. You can write him at jmoakley@mail.house.gov

We are not calling for these two men to be censured by their bishops, only reminded of their duty before God and His Church. Therefore, there is no need to write their shepherds, but we do encourage you to e-mail these two and, in total love, beg them to do all in their power to stop the egregious sin of abortion.
