In honor of the Jubilee of Families
We introduce a special series on Conjugal Love:
"AT ONE WITH GOD"
The Keys to Reestablishing the Sanctity of Life through the Charism of Conjugal Love
Cyndi CainMichael Cain   This weekend, in honor of the special Jubilee of Families currently being held in Rome, we introduce a new series that prayerfully will inspire married couples everywhere as well as touch engaged couples with the realization of the great gift the Sacrament of Matrimony is and the charisms available through the giving of oneself in heart, soul and body to each other in pure, holy Conjugal Love. It is the way God has always intended marital bliss should be. But, as we explain in our introduction, there can be no bliss, no union without Him. Christ has confirmed the necessity of this oneness, "...now they are no longer two, but one flesh" (Matthew 19: 6) as well as the Apostle Paul who entreated in Ephesians 5: 25-26, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the Church, and delivered Himself up for her, that He might sanctify her, cleansing her in the bath of water by means of the word." This sensitive and enlightening series is co-written by Michael and Cyndi Cain, who share what the Holy Spirit has inspired them to write including intimate, chasteful revelations of their own lives that have helped elevate their Conjugal Love. The entire concept unlocks the keys to reestablishing the Sanctity of Life through the Charism of Conjugal Love and, one couple at a time, we can change the world and eradicate the culture of death. In honor of this special weekend of the Jubilee of Families, we bring you the first part and second part of the Introduction to this series today and tomorrow respectively. After that, this series will be featured in each Saturday issue. For the first part of the Introduction of this series, see AT ONE WITH GOD

Observance of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Saturday

All loving God, You created the human family as a reflection of Your Own Divine Life so that Your creation might share in Your happiness. Hear our prayer for Your daughters who await the birth of their children. They have cooperated with You in giving life. Assist them now as they prepare to give birth to the children in their womb. May Mary be their guide and support, calming fears and strengthening their love. May Your daughters be filled with Your peace and blessing so that they may bring their children into this world safely and in good health to the praise and glory of Your name. Amen.

Events that happened Today in Church History

Pope Saint Callistus I    Today is the 1,778th anniversary of the death of Pope Saint Callistus I in 222. This 16th in the line of Peter, whose feast we commemorate today, served five years as Sovereign Pontiff. To Callistus or Calixtus, is credited the excavation of the catacombs where 46 Popes and over 200,000 Christian martyrs were buried. St. Callistus attained his Heavenly crown of martyrdom when he was beaten to death with clubs by the pagans and what was left of his bloody and bruised fatal body was discarded in a deep well. On that spot today stands Santa Maria in Trastevere. . For other time capsule events that happened Today in Church history, see MILLENNIUM MILESTONES AND MEMORIES

Famous quotes of Bishop Fulton J. SheenThe Golden Quality of Truth

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the words of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen have been known to launch a thousand images in one's mind, one of the ways this late luminary did so much to evangelize the faith. Because of the urgency of the times and because few there are today who possess the wisdom, simplicity and insight than the late Archbishop who touched millions, we are bringing you daily gems from his writings. The good bishop makes it so simple that we have dubbed this daily series: "SIMPLY SHEEN".

"Grains of truth are like grains of gold that prospectors find; they can be discovered after a long search; they must be sifted from error with great patience; they must be buried with sacrifice to erase the dross and washed in the streams of honesty."
