INTRODUCTION     In order to provide the reader more than just a rehash of what a movie or video is all about which really only serves to promote a film or program despite the rating, we have decided to bring you a more in-depth feature by enlisting Michael Vincent Boyer, editor and publisher of the excellent monthly tabloid magazine "Goodbye Hollywood". Like fellow columnist Pat Ludwa, Michael also hails from northern Ohio but for the past twenty plus years has lived in the deep south. Yet, because of his intrinsic inside work with the Hollywood establishment as Director of the Alabama Film Commission, he is well aware of the state of the industry and most of what he has seen is not compatable with the teachings of the Church. For that reason he began his monthly publication and has begun writing a regular in-depth, thought-provoking, sometimes shocking column for the DailyCATHOLIC. After Lent he will expand even further in providing a brief daily guide of programs that may not be all they're cracked up to be, or a program that might slip through the cracks and be forgotten even though it is excellent. This happens often and Michael will be on top of it to enlighten readers as to what Hollywood is truly up to as he infiltrates the devil's workshop - Hollywood USA!

   Because he will dealing with how all this affects Catholics we continue to call it: "MOVIES & MORALS." Also, because he will be treating videos both in VCR rentals and video games and how we need to be on our guard, we're also calling it: "VIDEOS & VIRTUES;" and finally, he'll also be covering programs and programming decisions for television and how we need to keep in mind the great cardinal virtue of Temperance to guard and guide us in our viewing - thus calling it: "TELEVISION & TEMPERANCE." Therefore, all three titles are appropriate to effectively convey the topics he'll be covering.

    The devil's disciples: Hollywood and Washington part one: The Ties that Bind!

        "It was a perfect match for the brazen, cynical, and vulgar entertainment industry to have someone in Washington they could call their own. In fact, the entertainment industry and communist China were the two largest contributors to Bill Clinton."

        The increasingly cozy relationship between Washington and Hollywood was never more evident than in the 1990's, especially after the 1992 election of Bill Clinton as president. Bill Clinton was and always has been infatuated with celebrity; his own and Hollywood's. It was a perfect match for the brazen, cynical, and vulgar entertainment industry to have someone in Washington they could call their own. In fact, the entertainment industry and communist China were the two largest contributors to Bill Clinton. Together, the president and the entertainment industry have dragged the moral fiber of this country into the mud with images and speeches that are rooted in their mutual 1960's counterculture disdain for standards, decency, and positive values.

        The first rumblings began in 1992 when record and movie producer David Geffen held massive fund-raisers for Bill Clinton that would raise several hundred thousand dollars - at least in money that was reported to the Federal Elections Committee (FEC). Much more was funneled through vague political action committees that found their way to Clinton's campaign. And it's anyone's guess how much was handed under the table. Selling the Lincoln Bedroom during the re-election in 1996 for "overnight visitors" to raise money was unprecendted and unethical, if not outright illegal. An administration memo was even uncovered with directions directly from Clinton to "increase" the Lincoln bedroom strategy. It is here that many insiders say even more money was funneled to the president in cash. And, many of the "overnighters" were actors, directors, and other "personalities."

        That this massive fundraising effort would have an impact on policy was soon realized immediately after Clinton took office. Many speculated that Geffen's influence on the president as a result of the fundraisers was largely due to one of the president's first acts as president; a new policy allowing gays in the military. But, while Hollywood pushed for the policy, the military brass strongly protested the change. Trying to pander to everybody resulted in the infamous "Don't ask, don't tell" policy which has confused enlistment, recruiting, and training in the military to this day.

        The Hollywood fund-raisers continue unabated going into the new year and the entertainment industry feels comfortable knowing that the president will have to occasionally "scold" them for their responsibility in the rapid rise of vulgarity, extreme violence, and debased values showing up on the nation's screens as he demonstrated in the 1996 election, only after Senator Bob Dole made it an issue first. A similar phony scolding was delivered in May 1999 after a rash of school violence was traced to the perpetrator's infatuation with violent movies and video games, some of which were promoted to youth with slogans like "Kill Your Friends Guilt Free."

        During the May 10th "scolding" to the industry at the White House, which few industry leaders attended, Clinton denounced the trash coming out of Hollywood. The following week, Clinton was on the taxpayer's airplane known as Air Force One on his way to Hollywood where SKG Dream Works partners David Geffen and Jeffrey Katzenberg helped Clinton raise $1.5 million for the Democratic National Committee. Attendees said there was a lot of laughing and backslapping going on concerning the "residential scolding" Because of the president's well recognized penchant for lying, perjury, stonewalling, and eventual impeachment, Clinton is not trusted by the American people because he places no backbone or commitment into his phony calls for accountability.

        The FEC records all donations to presidential candidates in the amounts of $200 or more. Public Disclosure, Inc., a non-partisan organization, has put together an extensive contributor's list for cycles going back to 1980. When the 1996 campaign list of contributors to the President and Political Action Committees sympathetic to Clinton were published, an unusually large number of entertainers were listed in the "actor" and "actress" categories alone (see list below). Many of the same people, and even more, have shown up on the lists for the 1998 congressional campaign cycle as well as the year 2000 cycle for president. Universal Pictures Chairman Emeritus Lew Wasserman has already thrown a massive fund-raiser this year for Vice President Al Gore, who "used to" point the fingers at Hollywood for their actions. But he freely accepted the money raised by Wasserman, the reviled Universal Studios chairman who vehemently pushed distribution of the money losing "Last Temptation of Christ" despite over-whelming public protest.

        Tomorrow we will name names of many prominent Hollywood celebrities who may not all have slept in the Lincoln bedroom but are certainly in bed with the corrupt Clinton administration.
