SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION OF MARY INTO HEAVEN
Today, the Virgin Mother of God was taken up into Heaven to be the beginning and the pattern of the Church in its perfection, and a sign of hope and comfort for Your people on their pilgrim way. You would not allow decay to touch her body, for she had given birth to Your Son, the Lord of all life, in the glory of the Incarnation.
Taken from the Preface for Today's Mass of the Assumption.
The DAILY WORD
Taken from the First Reading for Today's Mass

"And a great sign appeared in Heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon was under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars. "

Apocalypse/Revelation 12: 1

Events that happened Today in Church History

St. Ignatius LoyolaSt. Francis Xavier    Today is the 466th anniversary of the founding of the Religious Company called the Society of Jesus by Saint Ignatius of Loyola, aided by fellow students Saint Francis Xavier, Nicholas Bobadilla, Peter Favre, Diego Laynez, Simon Rodriguez, and Alfonso Salmeron. This was accomplished in the city of Paris. The Order, better known as the Jesuits, would formally be approved by Pope Paul III six years later and focus their headquarters in Rome. On this same day 15 days later, in his attempt to evangelize the Faith to the far east, St. Francis Xavier arrived on the Oriental shores of Japan. Famous quotes of Bishop Fulton J. SheenLive each second, minute, and day as God wills!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the words of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen have been known to launch a thousand images in one's mind, one of the ways this late luminary did so much to evangelize the faith. Because of the urgency of the times and because few there are today who possess the wisdom, simplicity and insight than the late Archbishop who touched millions, we are bringing you daily gems from his writings. The good bishop makes it so simple that we have dubbed this daily series: "SIMPLY SHEEN".

" Little things make up the universe. The clouds gather up the rain and moisture and part with them in drops; time is so precious that it is given out second by second; stars do not leap about in their orbits but keep a measured pace. In like manner, humans will find little to do if they save their energy for great occasions. In every direction the great is reached through the little. The turning of a tiny needle steadily toward a fixed point is a little common thing, but it guides navies along the uncharted seas. The most significant trifle becomes a great thing if the alternative of obedience or rebellion is involved in it. To live by the day and to watch each step is the true pilgrimage method, for there is nothing little if God requires it."

No more Blood and Gore!!

We encourage you to go to the Pro-Life links below to keep up to date on the great battle between life and death - the Sanctity of Life vs. the culture of death led by pro-abort candidates and those who would advance immorality, sodomy, perjury, etc. We refer you to our HOMEPORT ENTRY PAGE where you will find a typograph of a chalice, a chalice overflowing with the innocent blood of the aborted babies nearing 40 to 50 million. Enough is enough! The story and our purpose is outlined in this typograph and for more information and why we will not give up, see DEFEND LIFE Pray and urge others to VOTE FOR LIFE!
