We have arrived at the end of July with the Feasts of St. Martha on Thursday, shared with the holy Martyrs St. Felix II and Companion Martyrs. Friday we commemorate two more holy martyrs Sts. Abdon and Sennen with Saturday's Double Major Feast of the founder of the Society of Jesus St. Ignatius of Loyola. That completes the month with August out of the blocks with the Ninth Sunday After Pentecost; also being the Feast of St. Peter's Chains, Commemoration of St. Paul the Apostle, and the martyrs of the Old Testament - the Holy Machabees.

    Reality Check
Earlier this month we observed Independence Day with all the accompanying fireworks. But Father Lawrence Smith asks us to stop and reflect and ask ourselves what were we really celebrating? Freedom? He begs to differ with those who have such myopic utopian illusions and provides the facts tracing the bad fruits back to the protestant reformation which inaugurated the beginning of Europe's fall from grace. America is merely an extension and despite the cries of "God bless America" the facts are that the reapers of the apostasy that felled Europe is feeding itself quite well on the rotting corpse of America which has fallen into decay because it was never preserved in the manner God so willed because from the beginning the Founders abandoned Christ and His Church. That is why the Masonic banner flies so high over the United States though few can see it through the illusion they've bought into. Father calls for a reality check as he explains in his column The Dissolution of Church and State

    The Agony of Aggiornamento
Pierre Teilhard de ChardinYves CongarJohn Courtney MurrayEdward SchillebeeckxHans KungKarl Rahner

Kathy Willett Redle begins a three-part essay on the ill-effects of Dignitatis Humanae, which, of course, is the Vatican II document on Religious Liberty. Kathy respectfully challenges Novus Ordinarian priest Fr. Brian Harrison to recognize the full truth and finally make his conversion complete by returning to the tried and true - the Traditional Latin Mass. She meticulously documents the errors in this first installment in which she cites the fallacies promoted by such devastating influential men like Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Yves Congar, John Courtney Murray, Edward Schillebeeckx, Hans Kung, and Karl Rahner at Vatican II. She explains in Part One of Truth is stranger than Fiction!

    Gabriel's Clarion
Gabriel Garnica continues his series on a Primer for the Prelates with part two in which he takes apart the rationale for a person to say that they are "personally opposed" to something that is sinful, but must go along with it for the "good" of the people. No way, Jose! It is never for the "good of the people" when it promotes sin, and that is what abortion, same-sex unions and a lot of other liberal ballyhoo does. Gabriel exposes the charlatans, chief among them one who would be president - John Forbes Kerry - who, despite the facade put on for the Democratic National Convention, his backbone still twists like the serpent, flipfopping to whatever way the grass is waving as he slithers through the chaotic underbrush of opinion, which means nothing when it comes to upholding the truths of God's Laws. Gabriel avers why we cannot be deceived by the treachery of words that sting the Sacred Heart of our Lord as he explains in the second part of his series with his column "Personally Opposed" Mantra is a Pathetic Excuse!
    HOPE ON THE HORIZON
Pat Buchanan alerts us to the signs that could signal the end of the siege by the robed ravagers sitting on the judicial benches who have usurped the Constitution by imposing a social revolution in and against America to impose "non-majority values" that fly in the face of God and have been foisted upon us by such liberal justices as Warren, Blackmun, Brennan, Doublas, T. Marshall, and Ginsburg. Enough is enough and Pat thinks Congress has cast the first blow across the judicial bow in taking back the fort with the passage of the Marriage Protection Act to declaw the courts and return the power and voice to the people. Now we await September when the Senate will take up the fight and oh, it will be a fight, to defend against the lobbyists for same-sex unions, abortion and other sins that defile the soul of America. Pat explains how the rule of the judges totally contradicts what the Founding Fathers intended in his column Has the Counterrevolution begun?

9th Sunday After Pentecost / St. Peter's Chains

We are proud to be able to provide for our readers the full Proper and Ordinary of each day's Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the Traditional Calendar.

For those who truly want to delve deeper into what the Faith teaches and what past Sovereign Pontiffs have decreed, we recommend for your vital reading to better KNOW THE FAITH in order to KEEP THE FAITH, pertinent Papal decrees which put to the lie what is being promulgated today by the Vatican II church. We strongly encourage you to read these to understand how today the modern church is in Apostasy when compared to what had always been taught by Holy Mother Church and enforced and warned as most grievous by previous Pontiffs as you'll see in CREDO & CULTURE

    Portiuncula Indulgence
Gabriel Garnica has been kind enough to share with readers the graces of the Portiuncula Indulgence garnered by all those in the state of sanctifying grace who fulfill the requirements for obtaining the indulgence of full remission of the punishments due to one's sins from the day of Baptism to the day one enters a Franciscan church to perform the indulgence requirements. Quite a promise, quite a benefit which Gabriel provides the specifics in his short presentation A Beautiful Gift!

    Recent Reflections

    "Qui legit, intelligat"
Because the Feast of St. James the Greater supersedes the Eighth Sunday After Pentecost, Father Louis Campbell's sermon focuses on the holy Apostle St. James and the passage in today's Gospel from Matthew on James and John's mother asking Christ for her sons to have a special place on the throne. Jesus' response is both an affirmative and a challenge while stating quite clearly that His Father alone has the right to "guarantee" a place in Heaven. Yet, Our Lord provides another way to achieve their goal and that is to take up our cross and follow Him by drinking of His cup in self-sacrifice and living as Christ taught day after day, taking one step at a time so it will not seem overwhelming. Father points out that the prize does not always go to the swiftest. No matter who we are, we can all be privileged to "drink of the Lord's cup" by being faithful to the Truths and Traditions handed down and bearing all sufferings humbly and in the spirit of joy while maintaining a healthy Fear of the Lord. In effect, this is also the message for the Eighth Sunday After Pentecost: being accountable for our stewardship before God and then man. Father explains in his sermon. "Of My cup you shall indeed drink"

    Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi
Kevin Tierney, in keeping with comparisons, equates the differences between the 8th Sunday After Pentecost with the Novus Ordo 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time. "In Ordinary Time." That in itself is truly confusing. The 17th Sunday after what? And why has everything become so "ordinary"? The other problem, as Kevin points out is that the Novus Ordo is infamous for not only omitting, but not telling the entire truth. It has obfiscated the essence of truth, not telling the whole story. He gives some excellent examples to illustrate that the architects of the NOM have failed to live up to the oath one takes whenever testifying before a court of law: "to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me God." God help those who have concocted the modern propers and the NAB version that further confuses as Kevin explains in his columnWhy is it out of the Ordinary to Get the Whole Truth?
    Gabriel's Clarion
Gabriel Garnica provides reflection on the Sacrament of Penance and by following the example of the penitent Mary Magdalene whose feast we celebrate on Thursday, July 22, there is no greater way to be one with Christ than by placing ourself in the center of His Heart - the chamber of Divine Mercy - the Confessional. Gabriel points out the healing effects of confession and how it has been so obscured in the New Order priority where sin is diminished at the expense of souls. Gabriel explains in his magnificent column that provides great meditation for every Catholic. He has titled his column simply with the first words a penitent says when entering the confessional: Father, forgive me for I have sinned.
    The Sanity of Sanctity
Professor Plinio Correa de Oliveira, mentor of Atila Sinke Guimarães, provides a magnificent treatise and meditation on St. Mary Magdalene pointing out the differences between one who was in sin and chose grace and one who was in grace and chose sin - Judas the Iscariot. The key, as the Professor points out, is their relationship with the Blessed Virgin Mary, proving again those close to Our Lady cannot go astray. From the time of her conversion on, Mary Magdalene was always close the the Blessed Mother. Conversely Judas was distant toward the Mother of God, perceiving her as interfering with what he thought was best, not what Christ thought. Thanks to Tradition In Action, Atila provides the insightful words by his mentor in St. Mary Magdalene
    "Qui legit, intelligat"
In Father Louis Campbell's sermon for the Seventh Sunday After Pentecost, he gets to the heart of the Gospel message today in magnifying the meaning of Christ's words "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." It is obvious to every Traditional Catholic what Our Lord means and in case it is not clear, many previous Roman Pontiffs, as well as saints and Doctors of the Church, warned of these times when the false prophets would be in abundance. That time is now and Father wonders how many realize it has been going on right under our noses for the past 40 years. Those who doubt that summation, don't believe today's Gospel. Father explains in his sermon The False Prophets Are Here
    Lex Orandi, Lex Credendi
Kevin Tierney shows how disorganized the Novus Ordo Proper is for this Sunday. This contrasts greatly with the smooth transition and theme of the Seventh Sunday After Pentecost in the Traditional Latin Mass. The problem rises its ugly head once again in the NOM, as Kevin illustrates, in the NewChurch's aversion to "negative theology" in their rose-colored "everything is right with the world and we have nothing to fear" false philosophy which leaves one ever more vulnerable to the wiles of satan. Kevin shows how the fruits of the synthetic, man-made Novus Ordo cannot possibly bear good fruit for the tree from which it came is barren and will always remain so. Only in the everlasting fruits of the Immemorial Latin Mass of Tradition can their be a bountiful harvest. He compares the Propers in his columnMore of the Not So Ordinary Time: Separating the Everlasting Fruits from the Rotten Ones

    Mass Confusion
Father Lawrence Smith completes his four-part essay with his epilogue in which he shows the stark differences between the forces of good and evil in showing the saving grace of Tradition which is the only answer to counter-balance and conquer the harrowing effects of Modernism which has devastated the landscape of souls and psyches. Father meticulously illustrates the fallout of the heresy Pope St. Pius X called the mother of all heresies - Modernism. In heeding Pope St. Adrian II's strong advice, "Stand fast to Tradition," Father shows how those who cling to Tradition. which is for all ages for all the ages, will not be led astray by novelty and phony phenonema. They will recognize the smoke and mirrors for what they are: illusions conjured up by the true author of Modernism: none other than the master of the underworld. Father summarizes it so well in "Modernism vs. Tradition" with part four of his essay NewChurch of the New World Order

    FOCUS
Restore the Old Mass and Church Teaching
In this issue we focus on some most encouraging words from a source many might not expect to hear traditional thought expressed. It could have been written by Bishop Bernard Fellay or Father Gomar DePauw or Father Lawrence Smith or Father Louis Campbell or any of the writers for The Remnant, Catholic Family News, the Angelus, The Fatima Crusader, The Latin Mass Magazine, or any of the contributing writers to this publication The Daily Catholic, but in truth, it is a combination of two editorials published in the two most recent issues of INSIDE THE VATICAN Magazine by editor-in-chief Robert Moynihan who reveals hopeful words that others within the halls of the Holy See are beginning to finally see the light and the total futility of the reforms of Vatican II. We present here his two most recent editorials "Restore the Old Mass" and "Restore Church Teaching" published in the last two issues of INSIDE THE VATICAN. We have combined them and called it, The Movement From Inside The Vatican to Restore the Old Mass and Church Teaching
    Gabriel's Clarion
Gabriel Garnica begins a multi-part series entitled "PRIMER FOR THE PRELATES" in which he addresses a cut-and-dry issue which, for some reason which only the devil knows, they are dragging their hooves in not clarifying for all Catholics. Appropriately enough he begins this short series on the eve of the opening of the Democratic National Convention where the Party of Death will elevate a man they will call 'Catholic' but, in truth, is no more Catholic than George W. Bush. Gabriel shows in this first installment how everything else is mute when priorities are prioritized. What are we to think when these prelates, save for a handful, don't seem to be on the same page as the rest of the truly faithful who can see so clearly that abortion is a sin that cries to Heaven for vengeance and any conceding to the opposite makes one definitely in contradiction with Church teaching and, ergo separated from the Church as in latae sententiae - self-excommunication. The fact is the vast majority have already done that; the problem is are there any true shepherds out there willing to make it official or do they not care for the salvation of souls? Gabriel gets right to the point in First Things First!
    Catholic PewPOINT
Editor Michael Cain rallies the recruits for the enemy is in our midst and yet we go about unprepared, forgetting that we are puddy in the hands of the spirits of wickedness on high. We have forgotten the eternal warnings that adorned churches for so many centuries: the gargoyles, placed there to remind us the devil is ever present "seeking whom he might devour." Only by girding ourselves in grace can we expect to be victorious against this most vicious viper of vile who comes masked in many, many disguises...from pro-abort politicians posing as heroes, to lukewarm Catholics refusing to see the inevitable, to do-nothing bishops who have long ago sold out their flocks. We must do all in God's power to help free them for they are indeed Prisoners of War in Spiritual Warfare. Cain points out that this is the ultimate Spiritual Warfare, and the only way to win the war and rescue the POW's is by girding ourselves in the armor of God and be guerillas of grace. He signals the trumpet: Time to Armor Up!
    Mass Confusion
Father Lawrence Smith continues with the third of his four-part essay on the devastation visited upon Holy Mother Church through the total deconstruction of all the staples that made up the culture of Catholicism. One of the main things the revolutionaries had to do away with was the Mother tongue of Latin by introducing the vulgar into the equation. Like the Tower of Babel, confusion has set in where today, through the "Balkanization of churches" it is no longer universal but divided and newChurch as a house divided cannot stand. It is not Catholic, but another religion where the only difference between Protestant and the New Order is that the latter retains the name "Catholic" but has allowed the errors of Zionism, Communism, Freemasonry and many other false religious heresies to invade. Father explains in "One is One Too Many" in part three of his essay NewChurch of the New World Order
    On The BattleLine
Bishop Kurt KrenCardinal Christoph SchonbornPope's problems multiply
Atila Sinke Guimarães, author of Vatican II, Homosexuality & Pedophilia weighs in about the entire sodomite agenda and that it is not just an American phenomenon, but world wide, especially in light of John Paul II's own Abu Gharib with the shocking scandal at the seminary in Austria. Atila points out that this is the last thing the Pope wants and, as much as he didn't want to get involved, he had to appoint a commission to investigate which could greatly incriminate his two dear friends who are ultimately responsible for the depravity at the Sankt Poiten Seminary - Bishop Kurt Kren and Cardinal Christoph Schonborn, one of Ratzinger's favorite as papibile. Atila also shows that God is visiting His vengeance with the epidemic of AIDS for the insolence of man in flaunting this sin that cries to Heaven for vengeance. He explains in his Bird's Eye View of the News from On The BattleLine in Cover-up in the Austrian Scandal
    Exspectans exspectavimus Ecclesia Dei
DICI, a news division of the Society of St. Pius X provides to the public their exclusive interview with His Excellency Bishop Bernard Fellay in response to Cardinal Dario Castrillon-Hoyos' interview in the Latin Mass Magazine. We provide His Grace's comments in which he shows that the Society is "firm, but not unreachable" and very willing to cooperate as long as doctrine is at the heart of it. There can be no compromises when it comes to that as we see the Society's solid position in Bishop Fellay Responds to Ecclesia Dei Cardinal: "We are firm, but not unreachable."
    "Father, forgive them..."
Dr. Thomas E. Woods, Jr. illustrates how so many today have forsaken decency and moral prudence and this is brought out most clearly in the way many dress - especially in church. He points out how satan revels at the way women dress today and Our Lady cries for femininity is sacrificed in favor of bondage to immodesty or worse, and the disheveled look symbolizes the turmoil in their hearts and souls, evident in the Novus Ordo parishes where the attendees have discarded the wisdom of past pontiffs, most notably Pius XII who entreats all to guard our dress for ours and others' spiritual welfare is at stake. He explains in his column which recently appeared in the June 30th issue of The Remnant You Are What You Wear
    Mass Confusion
Father Lawrence Smith continues with the second of his four-part essay on the devastation visited upon Holy Mother Church through the "syringe of poison into the Body of Christ" delivered by Vatican II. In this issue Father points out that in trying to categorize God, man has forgotten who He truly is and by rejecting the infrangible truths of His Church they are, in essence revolting against God by establishing themselves as gods, placing the Almighty on a level of informal, almost vulgar familiarity. Therein all reverence and awe is lost and the Triune Deity loses its impact on man, so blinded by the prince of the world who is darkness personified. Into the dark he leads the poor misguided souls who have sought easier ways to worship, their ways rather than the ways God specifically called for. Thus man is caught between "Omnipresent Presences and Power Vacuums" pulled between the polars of good and the rulers of darkness - the Principalities and Powers of wickedness on high (cf. Ephesians 6: 12). Father explains in part two NewChurch of the New World Order
    Gabriel's Clarion
Gabriel Garnica captures the width, the depth and breadth and height of John Kerry and what he reveals is pure shallowness and hypocrisy as he points out in the contradictions of this man who has no principles. That is evident by the most recent event in New York where profane progressives pushed the term 'Party' in the Democratic Party way over the line with the profane and obscene "pillow talk" of the progressive persnickety perpetrators of the culture of death, chief among them one Whoopie Goldberg. The question inevitably comes up who's the real comic - Kerry or the so-called comedians? Gabriel asks why everyone can't see how pandering to the perverts will ketchup to Kerry? (pun intended) He explains in his column Caught in the act with the Whoopie Cushion!
    Christ or chaos
Dr. Thomas A. Droleskey alerts readers that war has broken out not only in Iraq but here on the homefront in Houston, Texas no less. From the city where the All Star game was just staged, there is nothing all-star-like or heroic in what the shameful progressive ordinary of Houston has done. That would be Bishop Joseph Fiorenza, who has unceremoniously suspended - illegally we might add - Father Stephen Zigrang because the latter refuses to peddle the barren fruits of Vatican II - chiefly apparent in the sacrilege known as the Novus Ordo. To read the bishop's letter is a revelation of how much our prelates truly do not know their Faith. Sadder even when you recall that Fiorenza was head of the USCCB from 1998 to 2001 when a great majority of the sodomite activities were in full force and priests were being shuffled between assignments with such craftiness, cunning and cover-up. Tom assimilates Father Stephen's predicament with so many other persecuted priests in the history of Holy Mother Church. Stand behind Father and pray for his perseverance in the face of the insanity Fiorenza and newChurch are thrusting at him. Tom explains in his column With the Courage of Saints John Fisher and Thomas More: Father Zigrang Suspended by Bishop Joseph Fiorenza
    Mass Confusion
With this issue Father Lawrence Smith begins a four-part essay on the devastation visited upon Holy Mother Church through the "syringe of poison into the Body of Christ" delivered by Vatican II in which Father syllogizes that either the Novus Ordo must be embraced by all as a superior rite representing all objective good and, therefore, all prior rites dismissed as inferior, or the Novus Ordo deposed in favor of the immemorial Deposit of the Faith and a total, uncompromising return to the Old Rite of Immemorial Tradition - the Latin Mass and all its doctrinal truths and traditions. The answers are obvious for, as this coming Sunday's Gospel points out, "By their fruits you shall know them" and the fruits of Vatican II are a barren tree devoid of good fruits. Father illustrates the logic in arriving at the conclusions he does in part one of NewChurch of the New World Order
    Gabriel's Clarion
Gabriel Garnica laments the loss of the reverence and respect once held for religious women who exemplified the virginal virtues of true Brides of Christ. Today's nuns in no way resemble the holy, dedicated sisters of the Traditional rite for they have compromised their vows by embracing the world, the flesh and the devil. No wonder there are so few vocations today. In the old days many young women wanted to follow the heroic example of St. Clare, St. Teresa, St. Catherine Labouret, and St. Therese the Little Flower. Today who, in their right mind want to follow the likes of 'Sisters' Mary C. Boys, Mary Anne Flannery or Rose Pacatte? Gabriel points out the contradictions in his column as he asserts, The True Catholic Faith Has Nun of This!
    Christ or chaos
Dr. Thomas Droleskey puts to rest all of the flim-flam bafflegab and skimble-skamble for the sad facts remain: Rome has lost the Faith. In tracing the "Rome said, the bishops said" sad saga, Tom has arrived at the conclusion that his first summation was correct and that Ratzinger has sold out just as so many others have in trying to appease the offenders. It reinforces our calling His Eminence to task and giving him the GATE in Fingerprints of Anathema. Tom sorts everything out chronologically and theologically and returns to his original position in his column Never Mind! I Was Right the First Time
    Catholic PewPOINT
Editor Michael Cain gets down to basics in asking some pretty elementary questions such as: are the bishops really as stupid as they are purporting to be? That would be the obvious conclusion on the face of their actions from Rome to America and back. The bolder question is why have we allowed them to get away with it? Are we too timid to stand our ground? Have we forgotten the example of the great saints who willingly died rather than compromising their Faith? Evidently so. Life isn't 'just a box of chocolates' but that precious commodity of time we will never recover and we must use every second doing what we were taught in basic Cathechism in grade school for it is the very essence of why God made us: "to know Him, to love Him and to serve Him and to be happy with Him in this world and the next." Sadly today so few are with Him but, whether they know it or not, against Him and His True Church. Cain explains in his editorial Stupid is as Stupid Does!
    Gabriel's Clarion
Gabriel Garnica alerts all that the mentality of abortion is only the tip of the iceberg for it has been the liberal attitude that man knows more than God which has spawned the non-serviam mills known as "Catholic Colleges" which have churned out countless 'Catholics' quite content with abortion and abandonment of the Faith. The likes of John Kerry is just a result of this process that has and is plunging so many toward hell. Men of Kerry's ilk actually think they are right because their consciences have been so dulled, dumbed down by the laxity of discipline thanks to aggiornamento and Vatican II! And what of those who would set them straight? That would be the bishops who have indeed, with rare exception, turned out to be shepherds in wolves clothing leading the flocks astray! These modern pharisees and hypocrites are indeed fools and ghouls leading the blind into perdition. We must not follow! Gabriel explains in his column Educational Abortion
    "Father, forgive them..."
Gary L. Morella provides a concise and insightful Catholic response to the flim-flam being bandied about regarding the Catholicity of John F. Kerry. The facts are that Kerry and those who espouse the persistent sin of legislating or voting for abortion measures or candidates have incurred latae sententiae in which one falls at once under the ban of the Church, as when it is said, "let him incur excommunication ipso facto" Anyone incurring this should be persona non grata in and with all Catholics until one totally repents. Kerry is trying to lock away Catholic truth with his outright lies and deceit. Gary gets straight to the point in his commentary John Kerry is NOT a Catholic, PERIOD!
    Christ or chaos
Dr. Thomas A. Droleskey unravels more of the sad commentary over the "miscommunication" between Rome and the United States Bishops and points out that it is all a smoke screen; for Rome seeks not to rock the boat and uphold the Petrine ministry, but rather to maintain the status quo of collegiality without enforcing the necessary discipline of excommunication to persistent sinners. Never mind that countless babies will be sliced and diced, offering their innocent lives on the altar of political correctness, while the bishops continue their scandalous ways of doing nothing under a do-nothing Curia taking their cue from a do-nothing Pope. Tom pulls no punches in his short but hard-hitting column, in which he states, unequivocally, that a Catholic in good standing can, in no way, ever vote for a pro-abortion candidate. EVER! DEM, GOP, IRS, PC and USCCB aside, there is a Higher Authority we must all answer to! Tom explains in his column Just a Total Mockery of Catholicism: More on Cardinal Ratzinger
    Traditional Insights
Mario Derksen completes his excellent analysis of Pope Pius XI's solid and absolute encyclical Mortalium animos. In this fifth part Mario gets to the heart of His Holiness' message: one must accept all that the Church teaches without exception for dogma must be believed. There is no room for discussion or opinion. Roma locutus est. Mario also pinpoints where Pius XI emphasized that dialogue is the wrong path and leads not to conversion but to compromise. Ergo, oecumenism in the sense it is understood today is heresy which denies the True Faith, outside of which there is no salvation. Again Mario repeats one is either fully Catholic or not Catholic at all. There is no middle ground! Mario explains in his fifth installment on An Analysis of the Encyclical Mortalium Animos and other true Catholic Teaching on Religious Unity with part five Ecumenism & Modernism
    ROCK SOLID REASONS
Some sixty years ago Canon George Smith wrote a most poignant compendium of why there can be no dialogue with heretics as the Pope and his novelty-driven cardinals and bishops push for today. The reason is quite simple as Dr. Smith laid out for Catholic truth does not and cannot change. As Catholics we are bound to uphold the depositum fidei and therefore defend always the Truths and Traditions of Holy Mother Church so all the faithful may KNOW THE FAITH in order to KEEP THE FAITH and share such a precious gift with others through conversion, not compromise! Canon Smith truly raised the Standard of Christ the King and His Church with Charity, Clarity and Valor and the current crop of bishops and priests, as well as the laity would do well to read his absolute words in his excellent essay "Must I Believe It?"
    FOCUS
In the aftermath of all the celebrating over Independence Day, Father Lawrence Smith asks us to stop and reflect and ask ourselves what were we really celebrating? Freedom? He asks why? for the truth is masked and in its place Catholic truth is further eroded where there is no difference today between Catholic and Protestant - just Americans who blindly wander in the oblivion of opinion without realizing the tenets that contradict what God so deigned for His creatures. But in our modern world of convenience and rationalization, we don't want to hear what God wants and so blithely venture into the vortex of sin by telling ourselves there is no such monster even as it devours our souls. Father explains the condition that will hopefully change the countenance of true Catholics in his excellent column The Two Faces of the City of Man
    FOCUS
Gary L. Morella kicks off a new series we are debuting in which we show the insanity of some of ZENIT's news releases which mask so many dangers. It is not utopia in Zenitville, but you'd never know that from reading the "world seen from Rome" for modern Rome no longer has 20-20 vision but rather is suffering from a severe case of malecular degeneration with the emphasis on the last word. In this first "ZOONIT" we show the beastly and untameable attitudes that have plunged Holy Mother Church into the deep abyss of heresy by embracing what Pope Pius XI staunchly condemned in his encyclical Mortalium animos. The animals are running wild and no one is tending to the zoo we call ZOONIT. The first report we place in the cage for viewing is ZENIT's article from July 4 on the Catholic-Orthodox talks in what we call: The Devil is in the Details of Dialogue
    On the BattleLine
Atila Sinke Guimarães documents how the spread of Satanism has been given a greenlight by a lax Curia and extremist Conciliar attitude that, as the Vatican's chief exorcist Father Gabriel Amorth asserts has opened the floodgates for Satanism. In a follow-up to Stefano Maria Paci's interview with Fr. Amorth two years ago - and carried in our FOCUS series on February 26 and March 5 - Atila provides more details to show the connection with metallic rock and immorality run amok and wonders why the bishops have done away with the one safeguard - exorcism. Could it be because they have forgotten the various necessary steps to the priesthood, of which Exorcist is the third minor order following Porter and Lector before Acolyte? How quickly we forget in these last 40 years. Why? Atila nails it with is column Satan and the "Incompetent Roman Curia"

    Tower of Trent Tribute
On the Feast of Corpus Christi we completed our inaugural Tower of Trent Tributes alphabetically among the three lay honorees of the fifteen charter members of the Tower of Trent Hall of Honor. Though "G" would not normally qualify for last in the alphabet, it did in this case and yet, though last, he is definitely not least for this editor owes his convictions to the irrefutable syllogisms Atila Sinke Guimarães laid out and backed up. This quiet quotient Master whispered wisdom on the pages of his books and articles that shouted from the rooftops the very fact that what took place at the Second Vatican Council was not a Renewal of the Faith but an insidious Revolution to destroy the True Faith. That is what not only woke us up, but planted the zeal to turn The Daily Catholic from what it was in 2000 as a thriving Novus Ordo publication preaching John Paul the Great to sacrificing it all in order to do the right thing. Cut off by all Novus Ordinarians at the time, we set out on the lonely but fruitful and sure path of Tradition and have never looked back. To that commitment, we thank this noble honoree, the distinguished gentleman and esteemed author of the Eli, Eli, Lamma Sabacthani? series that will be remembered as quite possibly the most succinct and definitive collection to flesh out the causes and effects of these troubled times in the history of Holy Mother Church. And so, it is with great honor and a privilege, and a thank you to our readers, that we can present the Tower of Trent Trophy to Atila Sinke Guimarães

    Tower of Trent Tribute
Tuesday we honored a man known the world over and admired for both his acting and directing prowess, faith and family values. What he has accomplished this year is nothing short of a miracle and we're not even half way through the year! Yet hundreds of millions have seen his masterpiece 'The Passion of The Christ' and been deeply moved by the genuine Catholicity of his film that will live forever as a visual work of art on par with the works of the masters Michelangelo and Carravagio. Our honoree today has taken the celluloid canvas and brought it to life in a way that few meditations could ever capture for it was done through the intense passion of a man of Tradition whose truly Catholic work has touched more souls than all the bishops combined over the past 40 years. With great honor we presented the Tower of Trent Trophy to Mel Gibson
    Tower of Trent Tribute
Resuming our Tower of Trent Tributes, we honor three outstanding lay leaders who have made such an impact on the Traditional movement and for Holy Mother Church. Going alphabetically, the first honored was Michael Davies the prolific British writer whose writings are well-known worldwide and who, as head of Una Voce for eight years, served as the unofficial adjutor between the cause of the Latin Mass and modern Rome. He has literally written thousands of articles on the Faith and the liturgical consequences that he is regarded by many as the foremost liturgical lay expert in the English-speaking world. In addition he has served as the willing guide for 15 years for the Chartres Pilgrimages each Pentecost. Now his health is waning but he continues to write as he is able and we offer our prayers for him and thank God for his writings that have better enabled confused Catholics to more clearly see the subterfuge that has undermined Holy Mother Church. Thus, as chosen by the readers, we presented the Tower of Trent Trophy to Michael Davies
Friday we completed our clergy presentations of the Tower of Trent Trophy by enshrining Bishop Richard Williamson into the Hall of Honor. Since his consecration to the episcopacy in June 1988, he has been a gardener of the harvest in forming holy priests as rector of the Society of St. Pius X Seminaries in America and South America. He has covered the western hemisphere in fashioning priests for our Lord's vineyard. Richard Williamson was born into an Anglican family in England on March 8, 1940. Though he did not realize it at the time, he was born literally in the shadow of the feast of angelic Doctor Saint Thomas Aquinas on March 7, a saint who would come to play such an important role in his life. Converted to True Catholicism, he became a priest of the Society of St. Pius X and created bishop along with three other men dedicated to serving God in June 1988. As we have seen since, the resolve of this bishop has strengthened, manifested in his commitment to the Truths and Traditions of Holy Mother Church. Thus we completed our tribute to the clergy by enshrining His Excellency in the Tower of Trent Hall of Honor and presenting the Tower of Trent Trophy to Bishop Richard Williamson

Thursday we presented the Tower of Trent Trophy to Father James F. Wathen, the relentless and mighty missionary of Truth and Tradition who has logged millions of miles over the last thirty years bringing the Sacraments to Traditional Catholics throughout the United States. For Father James, have the True Mass, will travel. While even to this day he remains a simple Traditional priest, he has never been one to withhold his opinions and facts and it is his books which will be his legacy for future Catholic generations who will see the wisdom of his words. His most famous book is, of course, The Great Sacrilege, which in 2001 Father graciously gave us permission to publish on The Daily Catholic. The fact is that in over thirty years NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO REFUTE his words for they hold up and are in harmony with the perennial, infallible Magisterium of the Church. It is a book we strongly recommend every Catholic read. In these days when he continues the good fight including trying to beat cancer, it is our honor to enshrine Father into the Tower of Trent Hall of Honor and present the Tower of Trent Trophy to Father James F. Wathen

Wednesday we presented, in alphabetical order, the Tower of Trent Trophy to Father Nicholas Gruner, the indefatigable defender of and crusader for Our Lady of Fatima. There probably is not a more famous priest today, known in both Traditional and Novus Ordo circles and regarded in a far different light in the latter for the vast majority of Novus Ordinarians have been dumbed down and duped into thinking Father Gruner is to blame where, in truth he has the cure for world peace. It is not found in the military operations in Iraq or in the boardrooms or in the U.N. chambers or NATO or any manmade operation. It is not found in the words of the Pope, but rather in the simple words of the most pure human who ever walked this earth - the Blessed Mother of God who told the children at Fatima to have the Pope consecrate, in union with all the bishops of the world, her Immaculate Heart specifically to Russia. If the Pope did this, peace was guaranteed for Russia would be converted. If not, then Russia's errors would spread worldwide. There is no question they have and Father remains one of the lonely firm voices crying in the void: Listen to your Mother! Other than millions who have pledged their Rosaries, the powers that be have not only ignored his plea, but sought to silence him. For his undaunting courage in the face of persecution it is our honor to enshrine Father into the Tower of Trent Hall of Honor and present the Tower of Trent Trophy to Father Nicholas Gruner
Today we present, in alphabetical order, the Tower of Trent Trophy to Bishop Bernard Fellay, who was not only one of the four famous priests consecrated to the Episcopacy that prompted the meaningless Ecclesia Dei canard, but also one of the youngest bishops ever at only 30 years old. He was elected Superior General of the Society of Saint Pius X in 1994 and remained so for the past 10 years. Headquartered in Menzingen, Switzerland he's been responsible for overseeing the expansion of the SSPX worldwide in following the charge of the man who both ordained and consecrated him Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre. While we have done extensive research in trying to find biographical information on His Excellency, we have unfortunately come up dry other than the basics. Therefore we shall share some of the highlights of the Society during his formative years and finish up with his latest declaration which assures he will hold fast to Tradition. One thing for sure: God knows what counts and we will count on that to enshrine His Grace into the Tower of Trent Hall of Honor and present the Tower of Trent Trophy to Bishop Bernard Fellay

Monday we began presenting the Tower of Trent Trophy to those the majority of voters chose among the living - those who carry on the good fight in keeping the Faith and preserving the Truths and Traditions of Holy Mother Church. There are eight and we've broken it down by honoring first those members of the clergy and then the last three will be the three outstanding lay honorees. In beginning with the clergy alphabetically it was no coincidence that we honored first Father Gommar A. De Pauw, a Belgian-born priest who has been a priest for 62 years and still going strong for the years have been good to him as God has preserved his noble general of Tradition. Father has seen action on the front line of the wars - the Second World War where he was a medic and then later a Chaplain, and later at Vatican II where he was a personal expert and "procurator" and saw first hand how the Rhine was indeed flowing into the Tiber for the subterfuge wrought from that 21st Council would so throw Holy Mother Church into a terrible malaise over the next 40 years. While Father was cooperative in many things, he would never say the Novus Ordo and, indeed was the first priest to establish the Catholic Traditionalist Movement before Vatican II had even come to completion. Before Cardinal Ottaviani ever penned his Intervention, before Archbishop Lefebvre ever established the Society, Fr. De Pauw began the preservation of the Faith with the CTM (Catholic Traditionist Movement). Thus for his long service for Our Lord and Our Lady, we proudly presented the Tower of Trent Trophy to Father Gommar A. De Pauw

Sunday we completed our presentation of the Crimson Cross - the posthumous arena for 7 of the 15 charter recipients of the Tower of Trent Trophy. Our seventh recipient listed alphabetically was a priest who toed the line of the Vatican II changes until he'd had enough when he realized in 1977 that those to whom he must be obedient were not being obedient to the Truths and Traditions of Holy Mother Church, and therefore being disobedient to God. Realizing the path had just grown narrower, he resisted the unlawful command of his bishop to give communion in the hand and stood up to the apostate bishops against such a sacrilege. Rather than fleeing the land, he dug in and, in his indomitable Texan-style reminiscent of John Wayne, set about to revive the Old Faith in the Los Angeles area for the next 25 years. Through his efforts he established a school in Garden Grove which is thriving today and one of the few places in the largest diocese in the U.S. where there is a daily Traditional Mass. The fruits of his work grow stronger every day. He died at the age of 87 on Our Lady's Saturday on September 28, 2002, having harvested a heritage of good fruits during the last 25 years of his noble priesthood laboring for God's lambs. We were proud to present posthumously to this no-nonsense Texan of Tradition the Crimson Cross award and Tower of Trent Trophy to Father Frederick Schell, S.J.
On Saturday we honored the sixth of the seven listed alphabetically posthumously. He was a priest whom the esteemed Dr. Dietrich von Hildebrand, a fellow recipient of the Tower of Trent Trophy this past Tuesday, called a fearless defender of the Faith - Fidei Defensor. He was born into a large Italian immigrant family in New York City in 1915 and growing up knew little of the gods of atheism or the Antichrist but his experiences and schooling would prepare him well to warn others of the terrible curse that visited this nation during the last half of the twentieth century and now threatens to explode early in the twenty-first century. Were it not for his deep abiding Faith and love for Christ, he could easily have gone the way of apostasy and liberal theology as so many of his fellow Jesuits did. Indeed God protected His faithful servant from the ravages of heresy and schism even though he had been exposed to these terrors in Rome and state-side. Because he knew his Faith, he was able to identify the problems and was chosen to alert others of the evils that were determined to wipe out Catholicism world-wide. He is best remembered for three books that should be required reading in every home: Gods of Atheism', 'The Roots of Violence', and Antichrist'. He succumbed to cancer shortly after the last book came out and yet, through his work he will be remembered as we honored this Fearless Fidei Defensor today with the Tower of Trent Trophy to Father Vincent P. Miceli, S.J.

Continuing in our presentation of the Crimson Cross in the posthumous arena we honored on Friday the son of German immigrants, Walter L. Matt who came from a long line of Catholic lay journalists. His grandfather launched the German-language Wanderer, and his father, Joseph Matt, a Papal Knight of St. Gregory (K.S.G.), founded the English-language Wanderer -- still the oldest Catholic weekly newspaper in the United States. Walter Matt was an editor of The Wanderer for some thirty years before he founded The Remnant in 1967 of which he was the editor/publisher for some twenty-five more years. Over his long, fifty-some years in the Catholic press apostolate, he wrote countless studies on countless different topics, concerning both the Catholic Church and the secular State. He was a highly decorated veteran of World War II and was still active in the fight to restore the traditions of the Catholic Church until his death in 2002 at 87 years of age where he passed away in the odor of sanctity at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota on April 21st, the 8th day within the Octave of the Solemnity of St. Joseph. Walter Matt is generally regarded as one of the pioneer founders of the Traditional Catholic Movement in the United States. And so, in respect to his accomplishments and the example he set in word and action, we take great delight in presenting to this trailblazer of Truth and Tradition, the Tower of Trent Trophy to Sir Walter L. Matt

We honored on Thursday the priest who authored several best-sellers, such as The Jesuits, Hostage to the Devil, The Vatican, The Keys of This Blood, The Final Conclave, and his final one Windswept House to name a few of his page-turning thrilling novels on the Church. Though he passed nearly five years ago, it took until now for his former Vicar General of the Jesuits to exonerate this man who was so maligned. The truth which we have always maintained is that Father Malachi Brendan Martin was indeed granted a full and legal dispensation from his Jesuit vows of obedience, but not from celibacy. He was given a perpetual celebret to celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in private. Finally his reputation has been restored as it should and we take great delight in presenting to this warrior of the word, this scribe of intrigue and inspiration Tower of Trent Trophy to Father Malachi Martin

Continuing in our presentation of the Crimson Cross - the posthumous arena for 7 of the 15 charter recipients of the Tower of Trent Trophy - we honored on Wednesday the third of the seven alphabetically. That is, of course the noble French Archbishop who stood fast by Tradition when seemingly all others abandoned the house of God. For his transgression of obeying God before man, he was greatly persecuted. In his honor we present today a tribute to the modern Apostle of Tradition, who, rather than caving under pressure by so many of his cohorts, stuck to his guns and was loyal to the Truths and Traditions of Holy Mother Church as he walked his own Calvary in rejection and even illegal excommunication from the Church he so loved. Father Ramon Anglais, who provided the biography used for His Excellency, wrote "In the fluctuations of history God raises extraordinary men and women charged with a particular mission. Without them, the face of the world and the Church would not be the same today." The Great Facade of the Vatican II Revolution has managed to pollute the minds of so many Catholics as to the holiness of this man and the fact Archbishop Lefebvre was right in doing what he did for the welfare of Holy Mother Church. And so it was fitting that we honored posthumously and presented the Tower of Trent Trophy to Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre

Continuing alphabetically with the 'H's, we honored and enshrined on Tuesday in the Tower of Trent Hall of Honor a man whom Pope Pius XII stated was the eminent philosopher of the 20th Century, and could truly be a Doctor of the Church for modern times were he canonized. Considering the factory of saints being churned out in modern times, that could be a possibility but let us not rush such exalted finality of honors for the man honored today would not subscribe to such instantaneous sanctity. He was a disciple of what Holy Mother Church taught for centuries and found in Her the truths, wisdom and logic he had sought. He was a man who spanned the trials and travails of the turbulent twentieth century from World War I through very harrowing times in World War II to the Revolution of the sixties and Vatican II. He warned post-conciliar popes of the grave error of following in this path and wrote two masterpieces The Devastated Vineyard and The Trojan Horse in the City of God in trying to warn the faithful of the folly followed by those committed to the reforms of Vatican II. He was a prolific writer who has left us many excellent works and is lionized in a biography by his second wife Dr. Alice von Hildebrand Soul of a Lion. We presented posthumously, the Tower of Trent Trophy to Dr. Dietrich von Hildebrand

  • We kick off our tribute to the charter recipients of the Tower of Trent Hall of Honor with the first of fifteen so honored this year. Going alphabetically, we begin today by honoring and presenting the Tower of Trent Trophy posthumously to the man known as the "Lion of Campus" - Bishop Antonio de Castro Mayer. He was a wiry, small frail man whose courage was taller and fuller than the mighty rain forests of his beloved Brazil. The love in his veins for Jesus and His Blessed Mother and the one True Faith of Tradition stretched further and flowed freer than the Amazon tributaries of his land. His exclamation of the True Faith shone over his country as majestically as the towering statue of Christ high above Sao Paulo. This Lion of Brazil was the determined, loyal field marshal of the epic battle against Fideicide as he rallied and maintained the last Traditional Diocese in the world, all in a humble corner of South America. He was Dom Antonio de Castro Mayer, Bishop of Campos, Brazil who was called home on the Feast of Saint Mark, the Evangelist representing the Lion - April 25, 1991 at the age of 87. Tower of Trent Trophy to Bishop de Castro Mayer

These were the Good - singled out for the Tower of Trent honor by our readers, but what these men above resisted and what all Traditional Catholics today are faced with is personified in those chosen as the bad and the ugly as our readers chose this year. Click on the images below to see the culprits in the secular sector and the hierarchy.
