This series, appropriately titled "Herod's Heroes," is intended to separate the wheat from the chaff by revealing those men and women, for whom we have voted, and who are not upholding the ideals God expects of His children. We cannot condone sin, and they are promoting the most vile of sin by being accomplices to the slaughter of millions of innocents in the womb. That is why, like the Judean king of Christ's time, who, out of political expediency and jealousy, tried to eliminate the Messiah by killing the first-born of every family, so also they are helping satan in killing God's precious ones sacrificed at the altar of the convenience of modern life. These "Herod's Heroes" are under the totally false misconception that a woman has the right to do with her body as she wants. Wrong! It is not hers, but rather God's. The body we have is merely a shell to hold our soul. The soul is forever; the body, as we are reminded on Ash Wednesday, will return to dust. Christ has said in Matthew 10: 28, "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather be afraid of him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."
Today, we continue in the state known as the pro-abort den of iniquity - Massachusetts where there is not one Pro-Life Congressman. How sad. Here is a Catholic state that tells the story of how the culture of death serpent has slithered into American politics and its venom has poisoned so many Catholics who know better. Whose to blame? The Catholic voters for electing them and their bishops for not pointing out their error and being more forceful in enforcing strict doctrine. This is a state of Ted Kennedy clones and we do blame the people and the clergy because a very qualified and staunch Pro-Life Catholic tried to run against Teddy and was ignored. This was Phillip Lawler, Editor of the excellent monthly Catholic World News Report and Catholic World News service. But because he was a "one issue candidate" he was buried on the back pages while pro-aborts got the headlines and the dirty money.
Of the ten congressman from the Bay State, all Democrats, seven claim to be Catholic. Both the state's 'Catholic' Democratic senators are overtly pro-abort which makes it over 80% pro-abort 'Catholic' politicians from Massachusetts. Oh, what sad times these are. Because of the blanket heresies being spread and the abuses by voters who claim to be 'Catholic' and the people they elect, we're going to begin covering pro-abort 'Catholic' congressman in this sorry state alphabetically.
Therefore the second culprit we will expose today is William D. Delahunt, the thirty-fifth on the overall list of "Herod's Heroes" to date who is the Democratic Representative for the 10th District which encompasses Cape Cod, the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket as well as an area from Boston's South Shore and Quincy to Brockton to Plymouth to Hyannisport to Cape Cod including the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. As an ally of satan through his uncompromising pro-abortion stance, he is enabling lucifer to "destroy both soul and body in hell." Through his actions he has become an enemy of God and the Roman Catholic Church. This is not a political statement on Delahunt, but rather a moral statement; one he and his bishops should take very, very seriously.
Born in Quincy in 1941, William Delahunt earned his Masters and JD from Boston College, a 'Catholic' University in 1967, while serving in the Coast Guard Reserve. He began his political career as a councilman in Quincy in 1971 after serving as Assistant Clerk of the Norfolk Superior Court in addition to being Legal Councel for the Quincy Police Department. In 1973 he was elected to the State House representing Quincy and two years later became a District Attorney where he served until the opening in 1996 to run for Congress from the 10th District. He was reelected in 1998 and 2000 and is now in his third term of office.
The people he represents are composed largely of Catholics. You would think, with his own Catholic upbringing and for the welfare of a large number of his Catholic contingents, that he would go against the grain of his party and seek to do what is right. But noooo! Because of his party affiliation he is more willing to turn his back on God than his fellow Democrats. What price politics?!
As a congressman he could do so much good, yet there have been no fruits because, through his action and record, he has steadily shown a disdain for the teachings of the Catholic Church and her mandate of upholding life in all stages. By his 100% pro-abort record he has shown an alarming consistency in voting for and legislating pro-abortion measures that empower the culture of death. He will have to answer to God for these transgressions against Christ's innocent ones as Jesus says in Matthew 25: 45, "'Amen I say to you, as long as you did not do it for one of these least ones, you did not do it for Me.' And these will go into everlasting punishment, but the just into everlasting life."
We ask him to repent of his ways, help turn the Democratic Party away from the culture of death and the immoral organization it has come under the evil leadership of the Clinton administration. We ask him to help bring the Party back to the glory days when the Party stood for decency and right. Today the Party he is so proud of is so far Left that its members, who continue to promote abortion - murder in the womb, could very well be left out at the Heavenly gates when their time comes.
Is Congressman Delahunt truly aware of that? We call on all to help him see the grave error of his ways and we call on his bishops in Boston and in Washington D.C. to take firm, responsible action to assure that if he continues to persist in the sin, he will be banished from the Church for remaining a Catholic while carrying on the sin with no sign of repentance. It is truly a slap in God's and His Church's face. As we wrote in our Ash Wednesday OPEN LETTER TO THE BISHOPS OF AMERICA and a week later in It's up to you. Left or Right? we respectfully, but strongly recommend this time of Lent and Easter as a time for the bishops to extend the warning - a time of Mercy - for these wayward 'Catholics' who promote abortion to repent of their ways. If they stubbornly refuse, then after Pentecost Sunday it's time to take action and dismiss them as apostates. Do you really want that, Congressman Delahunt?
You can e-mail William Delahunt and, in love, ask him yourself. Beg him to repent of his ways. Remind him what Jesus asserts in Matthew 16: 26-27, "For what does it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, but suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man is to come with His angels in the glory of His Father, and then He will render to everyone according to his conduct." We call on the bishop, whose jurisdiction governs Delahunt's area of residence and his constituents, His Eminence Cardinal Bernard Law, Archbishop of Boston, along with Delahunt's governing prelate in the
nation's capitol Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, Archbishop of Washington D.C. to jointly issue a mandate to Congressman Delahunt that if he persists after Pentecost Sunday he will be EXCOMMUNICATED.
Both cardinals have established themselves in most eyes as Pro-Life prelates. Your Eminences, you have the key to start the ball rolling, to wake Catholic America up and the rest of the country, to truly put teeth into the mandate. The fruits will be many for while some will lash out at the Church for being too severe, intolerant or any other politically correct euphenism they can conjure up, the vast majority will realize that finally, finally after 28 long, brutal years God's people are fighting back. Not to follow up your words with action will only send a further message to American Catholics that you're not really as serious as you would like them to believe. Please, please, dear Cardinal Law and Cardinal McCarrick, pave the way now. The other bishops won't act until you do. Show them what is right before God and His Holy Church. You CAN save millions of souls by showing the faithful there is a price to pay if one is not obedient to the Church. For the sake of the unborn past, the unborn present, and the unborn yet to be seeded. Please, please, please!
We can't emphasize enough to Cardinal Law and the other bishops of Massachusetts, in this case Bishop Sean O'Malley, OFM Cap. whose jurisdiction covers half of Delahunt's District, that it is way past time to clean out the barn. The manure of malaise and tolerance for sin has been piled so high in the Bay State that you must take action now. You can not allow this to continue. If you do, what are loyal Catholics to think?
What, dear Eminence, are you afraid of? Why have you waited so long? For you to wait any longer will cast great doubts on your ability to lead and to shepherd the faithful, and cast even greater scandal through your failure to do anything. The argument of being patient and using love is nothing but a cover to do the same ol' and tolerate sin. Yes, Jesus loves and forgives, but He does not tolerate tolerance of sin; the sinner, yes; the sin, never! You have this opportunity to forgive but only if the sinner is repentant and resolves to sin no more. If you do nothing what are we to think? More importantly, what is God to think?
These bishops have a duty before God, a duty to their flocks to extend mercy through the grace-period of Lent and Easter Season leading up to Pentecost. If no action is taken or if there is and Congressman Delahunt refuses to heed even the Church, then let him be an anathema.
Like the prodigal son, we will gladly welcome him back and be proud to number him as a loyal Catholic - as a Paul who once was Saul. Does William Delahunt really want his legacy in eternity to be that he was one of "Herod's Heroes?" With all the good that he has sought to accomplish, why have it blotted out by the evil that he has done? We pray his heart will be touched and he will return to the fold. We ask him to seek out Father Daniel Coughlin, House Chaplain, and discuss it with him. But if he refuses, or chooses not to cooperate with the Church, if he ignores God's commands, then so be it. He has sold his soul to the devil and Christ has made it very clear in Matthew 19: 15-18 of how to treat one who turns his back on His teachings.
Our bishops MUST follow Our Lord's teachings, they MUST stand up for Christ and His Church. They MUST not only speak out without reservation, but they MUST issue the ultimatum to these pro-abort politicians who bring so much scandal to the Church by continuing to call themselves 'Catholic.' If, by Pentecost Sunday, Congressman Delahunt refuses to repent, then he must be notified that he has interdicted himself by his actions, incurred automatic suspension (latae sententiae), and thus has been EXCOMMUNICATED! (cf. Canon Law 1329, 2; 1397 and 1398).
