Daily Issues for Week of October 27 - November 2, 2000

   In our editorial this week, we call a spade a spade as the editor shares his own feelings about the election. As an individual he explains he has that right and is not in violation of any confusing IRS statute. He also reminds bishops and pastors that they too can speak on their own. The fact that the Church stands for the same thing that we express is irrelevant, because the relevant issue is the Sanctity of Life. All other issues don't mean a hill of beans! The facts are that our only choice for President of the United States has to be George W. Bush if we are truly Catholic for Catholic Doctrine and Canon Law prohibit us from aiding or abetting a candidate who promotes the culture of death. That would be Al Gore and he is bad, very bad for America, very bad for the soul. It's time to rattle the skeletons of indifference and give America some healthy meat on those bones and give future unborns the chance to grow flesh and bones, to breathe life. That won't be possible if Al Gore is elected. We can't emphasize enough how vital, how important the election in less than two weeks will be. With Halloween this week it gives one pause to think of a scarier proposition than an Al Gore presidency and a continuation of the same moral morass and amoral ethics we have been subjected to over the past eight years. It's time to return decency to the White House. It's time to call on God for a miracle for the sake of millions of unborn souls, for the sake of our own souls.
