Just as Patrick instructed the ignorant, Our Lord asks us to do the same

In Lesson/Meditation #77 Jesus reminds us of our responsibility to "instruct the ignorant" through the Spiritual Works of Mercy. Just as Patrick taught that "there is One in Three Divine Persons, and that Christ's One True Church contains, holds and preserves these Divine Truths and Mysteries so that you might be saved" so also Jesus reminds us of the same, instructing us on how to instruct. That is the essence of Our Lord's message today in INSTRUCTING THE IGNORANT as imparted to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart in a series of 100 Meditative Lessons. Click on THE HIDDEN WAY

Lesson/Meditation #77:

INSTRUCTING THE IGNORANT

(Imparted on February 7, 1995 to the Hidden Flower by Our Lord)

Beloved Hidden Flower of My Mother’s Immaculate Heart, I give to you My Peace and say yet again: "Trust Me, for I Am!"

I am teaching My children the value of those works called The Spiritual Works of Mercy. Thus, it is your duty as My child who loves Me to "Instruct the Ignorant."

First, I solemnly tell you that in your country, although you have advanced technology which enables you to have information at every second, you have truly become ignorant.

The advanced nations believe themselves intellectually superior to less advanced nations. You have turned your minds into nothing more than a library of useless information which lies waiting to be used not for Me, but by the evil one.

Of what use to you is all this constant information which is sound that beats against your ears? Of what use is the television which flashes abominations of evil before your eyes every second of the day? Of what use your newspapers and other literature which expound images through words, and every image is derived from hell and leads you there?

O! Woe to your country submerged in ignorance. Do you know what true ignorance is? True ignorance is to know nothing of Me, Who Am. I, your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ solemnly say unto you that all knowledge obtained now in your sinful world is of no value to your immortal soul; and so weak is your faith that you cannot subject yourself to this barrage of information without danger of being deceived into believing you are well-informed and knowledgeable about the Truth.

      I Am Truth.

I Am not to be found on television except for a vary small number of times when My children find Me in a program where My true children teach of Me, for Me, through Me. And even though you argue that many protestant religious stations are better than anything else you could choose, I solemnly say to you that because these, My children, are deceived and do not fully recognize the Truth of Scripture, you are better to read Scripture and turn to the Holy Spirit for discernment than to absorb the half-truths paraded before you as full Truth.

My children, in this Spiritual Work of Mercy whereby you are to Instruct the Ignorant, you are to know the One True Faith. You are to live that faith, and by thought, word and deed you are to teach others of me, Who Am, and thereby bring others to Me for love of Me!

But you do not seek to Instruct the Ignorant out of Love for Me, but out of concealed pride which masquerades itself in many forms. There is One God in Three Divine Persons, and My One True Church contains, holds and preserves these Divine Truths and Mysteries so that you might be saved!

My Truth is One. It does not divide. It does not argue. It does not debate. It does not spend useless hours in uttering finite speech in order to persuade one to believe in Me or not.

My Truth brings love which is simple, clear and peaceful of heart. My Truth, residing in your soul looks upon all the world and recognizes each instance when I Am not present because Truth is missing.

Those who instruct the ignorant must first and always know Me. These are the poor, weak humble souls who hunger and thirst for Me and who are taught by Me alone, and are guided by Me in what they read and see so that no half-truth may enter in.

Woe to all who proclaim themselves "teachers of Truth" when in reality they teach bigotry, hatred, racism, self-righteousness and judgmentalness. Woe to all who hold the Holy Bible in their hand and recite chapter and verse and call out My Name, but have not the Holy Spirit indwelling in them. Their utterances do more harm than good, just as the scribes and Pharisees did in My Time.

O! What long hours did these scribes and Pharisees spend pouring over Scripture, dissecting it word for word, line for line, and with puffed-up ego because they believed themselves intellectually superior, were in reality blind to the Truth, for they could not recognize Me, the Messiah, Son of God and Savior of the World.

If you would Instruct the Ignorant than it must be the Holy Spirit who speaks through you, letting My Light draw others to Me through you. Instruction of the Ignorant begins with one motive: Love. It ends with one motive: Love. I solemnly tell you that Love is Truth. Truth is Charity, and Charity does not shy away from Truth but proclaims It in the proper Spirit.

What then is the proper Spirit? Love, My children that knows Me, Loves Me and Serves Me. It is not self-seeking. It is not uncharitable!

Uncharitable! O! How you are so easily deceived in this regard, My little ones who seek to live in an honest, upright manner.

You listen only to those in position to talk via the media who espouse the feelings of your ego. These people, by their rhetoric, give unto you a false sense of strength because your pride is lifted up. You hear them and then find yourself making uncharitable remarks about your brothers and sisters. You fail to recognize your uncharitableness, your bitterness the seeds of anger and pride in your heat and soul. Rather than leading you in the path of holiness and love, a life of prayer and sacrifice, you embark upon diatribes of uncharitable rhetoric often disguised in humor which appeals to your human weakness—for to laugh at another causes you to feel good about yourself, and leads you to feel that before Me you have found favor.

I do solemnly tell all the world this is not Instructing the Ignorant! Rather, it is leading you and others further and further from Me, and I do not desire this for all are My children. I love all with Infinite Love and seek to place you in the Refuge of My Sacred Heart. But do you seek to be in the Refuge of My Sacred Heart? Do you seek to bring all others into this secure Refuge, or you have in your heart a secret, hidden desire to see the ‘others’ judged, reprimanded and punished by Me because they have failed to Love Me!

Woe! Triple woe to all who, by the gift of faith and grace of the Holy Spirit, know Me and hear and live My Word, turn around and present themselves to others in all manner of uncharitableness for My Name’s sake. I do solemnly tell you that at that time of Judgment The Eternal Father shall Judge you more severely. For I say unto you: If you have by grace and My Infinite Merits received more from Me, then more is required from you than it is from the one to whom I choose to give little. I solemnly tell you that many to whom little has been given shall have a higher place in heaven than the many to whom I have lavished My graces and they have abused My love by having NO love.

I speak of all priests, deacons, consecrated religious and laity who do not lovingly teach others sound doctrine, dogma and the One True Faith. I say to all who disobey My Vicar, and who willingly lead even one of My little ones astray: You shall answer to Me not only for your own sins, but for every soul you have knowingly led astray.

In these end times I choose My poor, weak little ones to Instruct the Ignorant, for they do so in humility, charity and love, and give their lives to Me as My willing victim souls. If you who seek Me and desire to persevere, then give unto Me your very self in a humble, contrite manner, and it is I who, through you, will Instruct the Ignorant.

Hear My words and prepare, for I come!

St. Pat's Day signals the start of a trilogy of saints

Today in the Lenten liturgy we celebrate the optional feast of the Apostle of Ireland, Saint Patrick, with tomorrow the same circumstances in which we commemorate the feast of Saint Cyril of Jerusalem, bishop and doctor, and, of course, on Thursday we dedicate the entire liturgy to the foster father of Jesus and protector of Mary - Saint Joseph. For vignettes on the two former saints, liturgy and meditations for today and tomorrow, click on LITURGY OF THE DAY

Though the Season of Lent often preempts this patron saint of Ireland, he is credited with bringing the emerald isle to Catholicism. Born of Roman and Scottish origin, Patrick was sold into bondage and brought to Ireland in the early 400's. His experiences prompted him to always turn to God for intercession and it was this faith that motivated him toward becoming an apostle for Christ in this land he grew to love. His piety and wisdom, as well as his genuine love and caring for the Celtic people, produced mass conversions throughout Irish soil. He is often depicted holding the Church in his hands as well as a shamrock which he used to explain the Blessed Trinity as having three leaves but one plant. He is also shown driving out the snakes. Though history does not record reptiles being on the island, it represents bringing the Gospel to Ireland and driving away the evil spirits of paganism. His holy work spawned generation upon generations of priests and nuns and holy, practicing Catholics up to our present century which are responsible for so many conversions the world-over, especially in America.

WEDNESDAY, March 18, 1998

Born in Jerusalem in 315, Saint Cyril of Jerusalem was ordained by Saint Maximus and was charged to teach the catechumens until he succeeded Maximus as bishop of Jerusalem in 349. However, after eight years the Arian heresy reared its ugly head and the Arian bishop of Caesarea Acacius claimed ecclesiastical charge over Jerusalem and had Cyril not only expelled, but condemned by an Arian synod on the false charges of selling Church possessions. Cyril was forced to retreat to Tarsus where he bided his time until 357 when the Council of Selucia reinstated him. But Acacius retaliated by convincing the Roman Emperor Constantius II by having him expelled again. However, when Constantius died two years later his successor Julian the Apostate recalled Cyril. This roller coaster continued in 367 when the new emperor Valens expelled all ecclesiastics who Julian had reinstated. Nine years later Cyril finally returned to Jerusalem but was still under investigation. In an effort to clear his name and the situation the Council of Antioch dispatched Saint Gregory of Nyssa to Palestine to do a thorough investigation. Gregory's findings, which unearthed the corruption within the Arian administration in Jerusalem, totally exonerated Cyril of any wrong doing and upheld him as an orthodox bishop who had been loyal to the faith throughout his life. In 381 Cyril and Gregory took an active role in the Second Ecumenical Council of Constantinople which officially recognized Cyril's authenticity as bishop of Jerusalem. At that same council the Nicene Creed was made official and Cyril concurred with everything within its text. A life-long opponent of Arianism, which denied Christ's divinity and the Holy Spirit, Cyril signed a document which condemned those who held to any kind of Arian thoughts, especially the peoples of Macedonia. After 35 years as a bishop, Cyril died peacefully in 386. Nearly fifteen centuries later Cyril was finally recognized as a Doctor of the Church by Pope Leo XIII in 1882, largely because of the authenticity, clarity and truth of his 24 catechetical lessons that had been passed down through the ages.

PRAYERS & DEVOTION

Today's prayer is from the Opening Prayer of the Mass commemorating Saint Patrick.

God our Father, You sent St. Patrick to preach Your glory to the people of Ireland. By the help of his prayers, may all Christians proclaim Your love to all men.

Medjugorje Monthly Message for February 25th

Dear children! Also today I am with you and I, again, call all of you to come closer to me through your prayers. In a special way, I call you to renunciation in this time of grace. Little children, meditate on and live, through your little sacrifices, the Passion and Death of Jesus for each of you. Only if you come closer to Jesus will you comprehend the immeasurable love He has for each of you. Through prayer and your renunciation you will become more open to the gift of faith and love towards the Church and the people who are around you. I love and bless you. WORLDWIDE NEWS & VIEWS with a Catholic slant

HEADLINES:

Holy See asks forgiveness in Holocaust document released yesterday!

Hoping to forever put behind them the suspicions, lack of assertiveness and questions about Rome's role in World War II and the Holocaust, the Vatican released the long-anticipated explanation yesterday in a document for the world that puts to rest the false lies and rumors that have been swirling for years, unfairly lambasting Pope Pius XII and calling Pope John Paul II on the carpet for not speaking sooner. This document refutes all those nasty attacks. The Holy Father, long an advocate of purifying our souls by forgiving and asking forgiveness, was not afraid to say the Church has made mistakes, but still stood solidly by the Jews, saving many during the years of these terrible persecution ordeals. VATICAN RELEASES DOCUMENT ON HOLOCAUST

VATICAN (CWN) -- The Holy See today released a long-awaited document on the Holocaust, expressing the "profound regrets" of the Catholic Church for "the failings of her sons and daughters" and calling upon the faithful to repent all expressions or feelings of anti- Semitism.

The document-- available for now only in English and Italian-- was presented to the press in Rome today by Cardinal Edward Cassidy, president of the Vatican commission for relations with Judaism; and Msgr. Pierre Duprey and Father Remi Hoeckman, the vice-president and secretary, respectively, of that commission.

The Vatican plans for such a document were first announced in August 1987. Cardinal Cassidy explained the unusually long production schedule by saying that the Church needed to time for thoughts to "mature" before issuing such a public document. He also revealed that individual bishops' conferences had sought time to make their own statements prior to the publication of the Vatican document. (The bishops' conferences of France, Poland, and Germany have all recently issued statements on the Holocaust.)

The document was prompted by the request of Pope John Paul II, who himself wrote a preface. In preparation for the Jubilee Year 2000, he called for a general examination of conscience among all Christians, to unearth and correct "errors and infidelities of the past." The recognition of the grotesque evil of the Holocaust is an importance aspect of that examination of conscience, he said.

Recognizing the evil of the Holocaust, the document says, compels Christians to initiate a dialogue with the Jewish community to ensure that anti-Semitism is eradicated, and the hideous horrors of the Nazi regime can never be repeated. The document suggests that sorrow for the pain inflicted upon the Jewish people should be made manifest in repentance, and this in turn should motivate Christians to fight against any tendency to demean "those who worship the one Creator and Lord" and who share with Christians their one father in faith: Abraham.

The document continues by arguing that the Holocaust is a tragedy "which must never be forgotten," the central horror of a century marked by inhumanity. "No one can remain indifferent" to this historic episode, the Vatican teaches, adding that the magnitude of the horror is so great that it cannot be put into words. This was not only a crisis of history but a crisis of the spirit, and of religion, the document states.

The document also retraces the "tormented" history of relations between Christians and Jews. It points to an earlier (November 1997) document in which Pope John Paul explored the theological errors that led to "anti-Judaism"-- that is, contempt for Jewish people. But it also recalls-- as the Pope taught in that discourse-- that "anti- Semitism" of the sort that fueled the Holocaust was a specific racial theory, clearly contrary to Christian teaching. That Nazi ideology was firmly condemned by the Church, most notably in the encyclical Mit Brennender Sorge by Pope Pius XII. Thus the Holocaust must be attributed to a "modern and neo-pagan regime," as Cardinal Cassidy put it in today's news conference.

Nevertheless, the document released today probes the question of whether Nazi racial theories could have been enacted into law without the complicity of Christians-- whether anti-Semitic attitudes among the Christians of Europe facilitated the acceptance of the Holocaust. Although some Christians offered courageous resistance to the Nazis, and did everything within their power to protect Jews, others regrettably did nothing-- or even cooperated with the Nazis.

The document concludes with a repetition of the theme that Pope John Paul II introduced when he visited the synagogue in Rome in April 1986: the necessity for all Christians to recognize and honor "our elder brothers."

CATHOLICS PROTEST CROSS REMOVAL AT AUSCHWITZ

WARSAW (CWN) - Hundreds of Polish war veterans and concentration camp survivors protested on Sunday against the planned removal of a 26-foot cross near the Auschwitz concentration camp.

The cross is deemed offensive by many Jews as disrespectful to the beliefs of the nearly 1.5 million Jews who died at the hands of the Nazis in the Auschwitz-Birkenau camps. But 400 protesters on Sunday said 75,000 Catholics also died at the camp, including St. Maximilian Kolbe, a Pole, and Blessed Edith Stein, a Jewish convert to Catholicism, and they said the cross should be for them.

Some Jews do not oppose removing the cross, which was erected to commemorate a 1979 Mass by Pope John Paul, saying its removal will not solve anything. "It will not build reconciliation but it will be an illusory victory of one side," Jonathan Webber, professor of Judaic studies at Britain's Oxford University, told the newspaper Zycie. The cross became a problem for the Polish government this month when the land where the cross stands was turned over to the state by Carmelite nuns forced to abandon their convent at the site because of similar Jewish protests.

SARAJEVO CARDINAL BLAMES WORLD POWERS FOR IGNORING BOSNIA

BANJA LUKA, Bosnia-Herzegovina (CWN) - Cardinal Vinko Puljic of Sarajevo strongly criticized the United Nations and "world powers" for not ending the aggression of the Yugoslav army and Serbian paramilitary troops against Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina in the years following the dissolution of Yugoslavia.

Cardinal Puljic gave his remarks during the "Gathering of Solidarity" held on Saturday and Sunday in Banja Luka, the seat of the Catholic diocese that suffered the heaviest dispersion of believers due to Serbian aggression in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The meeting was organized by the Justice and Peace Commission of the European Bishops' Conference. In addition to the representatives of the commission and Catholic Church in Bosnia-Herzegovina, other participants included a Muslim mufti Ibrahim Halilovic of Banja Luka and the president of the local Jewish community, Danilo Nikolic. Representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church did not attend, though they were invited.

"Mighty world powers introduced an embargo and prevented the victim from defending himself," said Cardinal Puljic. "And I am afraid that the European civilization rushes to its decline if it makes the right of the strong legitimate." Cardinal Puljic also said that European Catholics do not care enough for Catholics in Bosnia-Herzegovina. "Why are European Catholics ashamed of us?" he asked, adding that after the fighting ceased, more than 70,000 Catholics moved out of Bosnia-Herzegovina, mostly going to the US, Canada, and Australia.

Cardinal Roger Etchegaray said that there were intolerable things happening in the Banja Luka region about which the world still knows nothing. He said that the main role of the Catholic Church in Bosnia-Herzegovina is to contribute to the reconciliation. Mufti Halilovic said that in and around Banja Luka alone, 16 mosques were destroyed. Jewish representatives warned that there are only 1,000 Jews left in Bosnia-Herzegovina after the war.
