For whom do the Bells toll?

They toll for all of mankind with the imminent approach of the Warning and the Great Miracle foretold by the Blessed Mother to four young visionaries at Garabandal in Spain. Today we begin the first of several installments on these apparitions that are more pertinent for our time right here in 1998. The importance of this apparition and its intricate link with so many others will be explained in detail throughout each week in Lent. For part one, click on THE AGE OF MARIAN APPARITIONS

GARABANDAL: For whom the Bells Toll!

Part One

We now arrive in the Marian Apparitions timetable at 1961, a time when rumors were beginning to circulate that change was in the wind as Pope John XXIII convened the Second Vatican Council. The politics surrounding Garabandal during those and subsequent years prevented the dire messages from being taken seriously, but in recent times the bishop has been more open to examining the content and giving credibility to what Our Lady imparted to the four young visionaries in this mountainous community in northeastern Spain. The interesting aspect of these messages are that they are meant for our times in the late nineties and that they are intricately related through the saintly Padre Pio who is up for Beatification. Yes, the timing is right for the messages of Garabandal, with the increased concern about the Warning and the Miracle promised at Garabandal and affirmed by a multitude of other visionaries. In the next several installments we are going to attempt to show how the Warning and the Miracle are intertwined in Godís master plan for in each ensuing apparition or message, Our Lady, in this Age of Marian Apparitions, unveils another piece of the overall "puzzle" in her on-going crusade to bring all her children back to her Divine Son.

Though the timing of the first Garabandal apparition was twenty years before the daily visits began in Medjugorje, they are intricately linked as are the messages of Betania, Akita and countless other sites and messages to messengers the world over. Just how closely the "Ten Secrets" of Medjugorje relate to the messages of Garabandal and the Warning, no one except the visionaries really know for sure, but we do know that the parallel of Garabandal to Medjugorje is no coincidence.

Twenty years before Our Lady appeared to six children in the small village of Medjugorje, the Blessed Mother appeared to four children in the even smaller village of San Sebastian de Garabandal in the northernmost mountain region of Spain. Like Medjugorje, Garabandal is less than a hundred miles from the coast; like Medjugorje, Garabandal is nestled between the mountains: like Medjugorje, the villagers were poor farmers whose faith was strong, yet simple. And yet it was this unpretentious hamlet Our Blessed Mother chose to impart her most powerful message since LaSalette and Fatima.

The sixties had just dawned. It was a time when the "age of innocence" was about to be transformed into the "age of guile and deceit". The era of "Camelot" was soon to become Mordredís dungeon for the sinister sin of abortion was just coming into its own, sexual mores would be stretched to their limits, and the world would turn further away from God, committing sins that would cause many tears of sorrow and cry out for Justice. In addition, the Second Vatican Council had been called. Little did anyone realize that from the authentic good fruits of the Spirit how the evil one would afterwards confuse the faithful through those within the Church who had sold their souls to the prince of darkness.

Our Blessed Mother knew this was all just over the horizon when she began appearing to four young girls- Mari Loli Mazon, Conchita Gonzalez and Jacinta Gonzalez- all twelve years old at the time of the first apparitions-and Maria-Cruz Gonzalez, age eleven. Though the three shared the same surname, they were not related. Like the young visionaries in Medjugorje two decades later, these girls had been up to innocent, but mischievous fun-stealing apples on the hillside above the some seventy rough-tiled homes in the village. As their consciences got the best of them, their imagination took over and they thought they saw an angel on the evening of June 18, 1961. Indeed, they did, and he reappeared silently for the next week to them in the same spot. This Heavenly messenger had come to prepare the children for a cornucopia of visits from the Mother of God.

Just as he did at Fatima when he announced he was the "Angel of Peace", this time he identified himself as St. Michael the Archangel! The Guardian of the Faith had come to tell these elementary school girls that the Mother of God would soon appear to them. Early on the evening of July 1, 1961 St. Michael appeared again to the four and heralded that Mary would soon appear to them as Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

"It is Consummated!"

Today we begin our daily exerpts from the book "It is Consummated!" as we get a jump-start on Lent with these inspirational and enlightening Meditative Lessons of the Sorrowful Mysteries as imparted to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart from the Blessed Mother of God during Lent of 1993 through interior visions and locution. These short daily excerpts are an excellent vehicle to contemplate on the Passion and Death of Jesus during each of the forty days of Lent. The first Meditative Lesson is titled JESUS ENTERS JERUSALEM with part one today. Click on "IT IS CONSUMMATED!"
INTRODUCTION: These Meditative Lessons on the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary which encompass the Passion and Death of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ were imparted via both interior visions and interior locutions to Cyndi Cain, the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart from the Blessed Mother of God during Lent in 1993. Cyndi relates that, "while I saw many details in these interior visions, only certain details were to be written down. Therefore, these lessons are not meant to be a detailed geographical or historical account, nor are they meant to pinpoint all the intricate details one might wish to have knowledge of regarding the Passion of Our Lord...for the importance of each lesson lies not in the descriptive passage or dialogue, but in Our Lady's own meditations which follow each interior vision. These meditations are meant to strengthen us in our faith during this our exile - particularly in these end times when the Holy Catholic Church will be ripped apart by apostasy and schism...for Our Blessed Mother wants our faith to be as strong as an anchor. For our faith to be such, we must have the faith of a simple, little child." During Lent we bring these to you and ask the Holy Spirit to give all the enlightenment and discernment to learn and grow from these meditative lessons that all may persevere in the time of the Great Darkness which looms ever closer. For those who would like the complete works of "It is Consummated!, as well as the books on the Joyful Mysteries - "Come, Let us Adore Him", and the Glorious Mysteries - "My Lord and my God!", click on BOOKS.

Meditative Lesson 1:

part one

Dear Father, As our Blessed Mother had told me during Advent, she would again give me lessons and meditations on our Dear Lordís Sacred Passion. She now tells me to write that I am in deep bodily suffering, and feel also great heaviness of heart to correspond in some small degree to that which Jesus endured so that all mankind might be redeemed. I have tested His Voice, as she desires of me. I am filled with holy peace and thus I write:

"Hosanna! Blessed is He Who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the King of Israel!"

John 12: 13
I am near Jerusalem. That is, I am certainly within the cityís boundaries, but upon a road which leads into the town proper through one of the many gates. Our Lady tells me to notice the enormous crowd which is everywhere:men, women, children abound. They are on the hills which look down upon the road. They line, even clog, the road and all are animated. I can see in their faces, particularly their eyes, a great sign of expectation. I notice that even in the houses people have come to the doorways, windows and balconies, and gaze longingly up the road. These people, though also filled with anticipation, are more reserved; I should say that those whom I see are of a more respectful demeanor. Those that our Heavenly Mother point out to me appear to be of a wealthier class, but I do not think or understand that this is the reason for their respectful attitude. Rather, I am given to understand that these people, mostly women of varying ages, are awaiting the Master-Jesus Christ-in a solemn act of veneration. The Holy Women of Jerusalem!

The sound of the crowd, which keeps growing in number, increases until it becomes a din, a veritable babble of voices. Suddenly a louder cry is heard. It comes from several men who have reached higher lookout positions by climbing trees, or high rooftops. A shout. Another cry. And now the people realize the moment is at hand and they literally knock one another about, jostling for a better position. The young men in this large assembly begin to tear palm fronds from nearby trees and, holding them aloft, begin to wave them as banners. And the fever pitch mounts.

One Week until Lent!

Since Lent is the theme of this issue in an effort to prepare all for what lies ahead in exactly one week, we devote our editorial today to the launching of the two above series and more in our daily commentary, today titled: "Getting a head start on Lent!". Getting a head start on Lent!

One week from today is Ash Wednesday which signals the start of Lent. In that spirit we begin today two special features that will run through Lent, one on a weekly basis, the other on a daily basis. The first is part of our on-going mega series THE AGE OF MARIAN APPARITIONS which over the course of two years running has arrived at the year 1961 and the significant messages of the Garabandal apparitions. The timing couldn't be more perfect for we are nearing ever closer to that time foretold in the messages and the moment of the Great Warning which ultimately, will be when each individual on earth will see the state of their soul as God sees it. That will be quite an awakening! Quite alarming. Did not Jesus say these things would come when we least expect it? Well, folks, from the polls and opinions of Americans and Catholics today, most haven't a clue. In other words, they're not expecting it. But it will come just as everything else Jesus and His Blessed Mother have foretold. The corroboration of the messages at Garabandal with so many subsequent apparitions and messages over the last thirty years bears this out. Therefore, Lent is the perfect time to look deep into our own souls and consciences and ferret out that which is not good, to prepare ourselves so we won't be in that great a shock when the Warning does come. Oh, we'll still be shocked because we're never as good as we may think, and conversely, at least in God's eyes, we often aren't as bad as we or others may think. It really doesn't matter what others think; only what the Almighty thinks for He is the ultimate Judge. Many believe, because we are in the pivotal year of 1998 - the year of the antichrist for 666 times 3 = 1998 - that this will be the year and Lent will be the time when God will send His Warning as prophesied at Garabandal. We are not saying this to alarm the reader but to inform...to be ready...to prepare now. Our Lady conveyed to locutionist Father Don Stefano Gobbi, before his messages ended December 31st of last year, that her Immaculate Heart would triumph before the millennium! She also imparted to him ten years ago at Lourdes about the importance of the next ten years. Some interpret that to mean "up to the millennium" while others take it literally as 1988 to 1998. The latter would put us right on the timetable. Other prophecies also align with the events of these times. Now, before you go pinpointing an exact date, please remember Our Lady doesn't deal in dates. Very seldom does she give an exact time or day other than when next she might appear to the respective visionaries. However she does give us enough pieces of the puzzle to understand the era or general time frame she is speaking about. The events of the day, the weather patterns, natural disasters, all point to the fact we are nearing the re-cleansing of the earth and God's people as Christ has promised. Thus the timing for the story of Garabandal is timely...very timely!

The weekly feature CATECHISM CAPSULES is being fazed out for lack of interest. Our access logs have shown very few going to those pages. Therefore, rather than taking up valuable server space on the UNIX with something not being read, we'll just provide the links to the new Catechism of the Catholic Church and the old, but still very relevant Baltimore Catechism...and leave it at that. In its place, we begin today daily excerpts from the inspirational Meditative Lessons on the Sorrowful Mysteries contained in the book entitled "IT IS CONSUMMATED!". Each day we will bring you short excerpts from this moving account of Christ's Passion and Death as imparted to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart by the Blessed Mother about her Divine Son during Lent of 1993 via interior visions and interior locutions. We strongly feel this will better help the readers experience Lent and understand the need for prayer, sacrifice and fasting during these forty days leading to the glorious celebration of Easter on April 12th.

Finally, we are researching our access logs over the last several months, which have shown a steady increase in hits - in fact doubling the fifty thousand in December to over 100,000 in January - and will pare back articles, columns and features that are not being accessed as readily as others. We are researching the possibility of expanding news coverage and adding a section titled, "Signs the Millennium is Closer than we think!" with a news feature of that day that targets this. In addition, prompted by the Holy Spirit, we feel it is time to begin bringing you background on the cardinals of the Church - the College of Cardinals, if you will, who will choose the next supreme pontiff. While we hope and pray that Pope John Paul II will live long past the turn of the century and into the next millennium, we must be realistic and acknowledge many of the prophesies that have warned of problems ahead and the pending schism within the Church. Many refer to it as the "Third Secret of Fatima" but we must only conjecture for we, like everyone else except the Popes and visionaries, do not know. Yet we must be prepared and by bringing you vignettes on each prince of the Church it will give Catholics a better concept of who eventually could be the next Pope. We will keep you abreast of when we will begin this important and informative series on a daily basis.

Other innovations are in the offing as well as we fine-tune the Daily CATHOLIC to best reflect what Christ wants for His One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. We are also exploring the expense and energy to launch a Spanish edition and, following that, other languages as the interest grows. Presently over 75 countries are logging into these issues on a daily basis. We give thanks to God for the growth spurt we are enjoying as we slip out of the console chair and onto our knees for we must all assume the kneeling position in prayer and petition in preparation for a merciful Lent. Why not start early? Join us, in getting a head start on Lent!

A Bit o' Wit!

In our last humorous column before Lent, we offer more quizzical puzzlers that boggle the mind on word origins and psuedo-oxymorons in this week's mid-week humor break. In keeping with the seriousness of Lent, we will suspend this feature until the Wednesday after Easter - so enjoy this last one. Click on A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO HEAVEN!
Yesterday's issue featured Saint Dominic in our HISTORY OF THE MASS AND HOLY MOTHER CHURCH section and so we bring you this bit o' wit today: Speaking of Jesuits who are called "teachers" and Dominicans who are called "preachers", the question arises: If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught?

Keeping in that vein, we bring you more puzzlers that could be considered hybrid oxymorons by morons but definitely not for morons.

Still More Questions to tax the brain...or a bit o' wit titled: Didja ever just wonder why..?

Last full week of Ordinary Time

Next week this time priests will have put away the green vestments in favor of the purple or violet ones. But this week they'll still be wearin' the green, especially the liturgies for today and tomorrow. click on LITURGY OF THE DAY

The prayer today is for Faith in God's Truths

Merciful Lord, hear our prayer. May we who have received Your gift of faith share forever in the new life of Christ. May the continuing work of our Redeemer bring us eternal joy. You have freed us from the darkness of error and sin. Help us to believe in Your truths faithfully. Grant that everything we do be led by the knowledge of Your truth. May the Eucharist give us Your grace and bring us to a new life in You.

"Of what use in the fool's hand are the means to buy wisdom, since he has no mind for it?"

Proverbs 17: 16

Medjugorje Monthly Message for January 25th

Dear children! Today again I call all of you to prayer. Only with prayer, dear children, will your heart change, become better, and be more sensitive to the Word of God. Little children, do not permit satan to pull you apart and to do with you what he wants. I call you to be responsible and determined and to consecrate each day to God in prayer. May Holy Mass, little children, not be a habit for you, but life. By living Holy Mass each day, you will feel the need for holiness and you will grow in holiness. I am close to you and intercede before God for each of you, so that He may give you strength to change your heart. Thank you for having responded to my call!
