Eggs Benedict anyone?
If ever there was a day to recognize the liberal, radical elements within the Church such as Call To Action or We Are Church not to mention Catholics for a Free Choice, today would be the day. For indeed it is "Traitors Day" so named because it is the 257th anniversary of turncoat Benedict Arnold. Those within the Mystical Body of Christ who opt to follow in the Judas mold will only end up with egg on their face and "hollerin-n-daized" sauce in their soul at the final judgment because of their hard-boiled insistence on changing Our Lord's traditional Church of 2000 years to their modern way of thinking. We can only hope and pray that these radical elements, striving to follow their own agenda in attacking Holy Mother Church, will either reveal themselves for who they are - traitors, or trade in their uniforms of division for one of peace, reconciliation and compliance with all Christ's One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church teaches.

There is hope, however, for today is also the 214th anniversary of "Ratification Day" in which the Colonies ratified a peace treaty with the King George. The concordat gave the United States their recognized independence and officially ended the Revolutionary War. Let us pray those liberal entities will recognize their only way for true independence is through total dependence on God by way of His Church and Vicar of Christ on earth. If not, bet on another revolutionary war within the Roman Catholic Church.

Our Blessed Mother has warned us this is a possibility - first at LaSalette, then to Saint John Bosco in a vision, and in many messages and apparitions in these crucial days in which we currently live. She pleads for us to return to her Divine Son through Eucharistic Deovotion and living the messages of conversion, fasting, penance and frequent reception of the sacraments. In today's fifty-second installment, entitled God does answer every prayer! we realize our need for Him and the only way to hear Him is to listen with our hearts.Click on THE AGE OF MARIAN APPARITIONS

We can pay now, or we can pay later. The choice is ours.
That's the beauty of God's gift to us. Free Will. We can make choices, but when we make choices that coincide with His Will it makes it all the better. One of His gifts through His Church are Indulgences. The more we pray and perform good deeds here on earth, the shorter the stay for many souls in Purgatory...and our own future tenure as a member of Church Suffering. We continue with our treatment on Indulgences with capsules from both the new Catechism of the Catholic Church and old, but still very relevant Baltimore Catechism. Click on CATECHISM CAPSULES

A word is a word is a word...unless it's in English
Maybe we can blame ol' King George for the English language, too. Few tongues are as confusing, especially when you mix in the slang. Today for our mid-week humor we bring you word malaprops that bring to mind a classic old George Carlin routine before he became a raunchy comedian. We call this bit of the Lighter Side today Facing Fractured Facts for indeed many words in our language have been fractured...and that's a fact. Click on A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Heaven

PRAYERS & DEVOTION

Our prayer today is from the Following of Christ on the Feast of the faithful Benedict - Saint Benedict the Abbot

Oh, when will this blessed and desirable hour come, that Thou mayst fill me with Thy presence, and become to me all in all? I implore the great and holy Saint Benedict to intercede for me for he followed Thy Will in all things and now enjoys the munificence of Thy Beatific Vision.

Medjugorje Monthly Message for December 25th
The Gospa    Dear children! Also today I rejoice with you and I call you to the good. I desire that each of you reflect and carry peace in your heart and say: I want God in the first place in my life. In this way, little children, each of you will become holy. Little children, tell everyone, I want the good for you and he will respond with the good and, little children, good will come to dwell in the heart of each man. Little children, tonight I bring to you the good of my Son Who gave His life to save you. That is why, little children, rejoice and extend your hands to Jesus Who is only good. Thank you for having responded to my call!

Consistory closer to coming about just before Lent.
Everyone within the Vatican seem to know but no one will commit until the Holy Father makes it official but the speculation is that the Consistory whereby the Pope will appoint a number of new cardinals will happen around February 22. Many had thought it would be late last year but the time came and went, now the anticipation rises once again, expecting John Paul II to make the announcement within a week or so. From Russia with love...all roads lead to Rome
Trying to soothe the fallout of the problems Russia has created from the controversial religious restriction laws passed recently and the unwillingness of the Russian Patriarch to meet with the Pope John Paul II, the Vatican confirmed the Kremlin's announcement that Russian president Boris Yeltzin will personally meet with the Holy Father plus Italian leaders next month. Abortion issue tops agenda as Republicans prepare for battle
Pro-lifers within the Republican Party are starting to squabble about how far the GOP should go in presenting a "litmus test" for candidates. Some, including the author of the partial-abortion ban bill are against a proposed strict abortion rule that would set up the Republican Party as totally pro-life but many fear it will restrict the party and pigeon-hole it as one-dimensional. Yet there are Catholic Republicans that are strongly in favor of making a stand. Click on GOP to read more.

PROVERB OF THE DAY
"They ignored My councel, they spurned all My reproof; and in their arrogance they preferred arrogance, and like fools they hated knowledge. Now they must eat the fruit of their own way, and with their own devices be glutted. For the self-will of the simple kills them, the smugness of fools destroys them. But he who obeys Me dwells in security, in peace, without fear of them."
Proverbs 1: 30-33
