Partial Birth Abortion Ban misses by three votesFour Republican Senators aid satan's causeservants of satan?
Senator John Chafee of Rhodes Island betrayed pro-life movement with his voteSenator Susan Collins of Maine betrayed the pro-life movementSenator Olympia Snowe of Maine betrayed the pro life movementSenator Jim Jeffords of Vermont betrayed pro-life movement with his vote

CATHOLIC PewPOINT editorial      In today's editorial, we expose those advocates of the devil - the four Republican senators whose votes were crucial to overturning the veto on the Partial Birth Abortion Ban, but they betrayed their party, their constituents, their God and the countless innocents who have been slaughtered in the second and third trimesters. While tossing brickbats at these four, we offer bouquets to those responsible Democrats who switched over and voted the pro-life ticket despite the consequences they may face. Kudos to them. With Fall upon us we return to original installments, picking up where we left off after the death of Pope Honorius IV with the first Franciscan ever elected Supreme Pontiff
Pope Nicholas IV     After an eleven month vacancy the College of Cardinals elected a Franciscan to lead the Church, a Franciscan who had succeeded Saint Bonaventure as Minister General. The Franciscan Pope had a crusade not just against those who opposed him, but against the infidels who threatened the Papal States. Probably the greatest crusade Pope Nicholas IV waged was sending Franciscans as missionaries to foreign countries including Croatia and Bosnia where they were forever entrenched in the hearts of the people including Medjugorje. For the seventy-third installment titled Pope Nicholas IV A Franciscan on a crusade, click on THE HISTORY OF THE MASS AND HOLY MOTHER CHURCH.
The age of grace and mercy is about to become the moment of Justice.
Queen of Prophets      That is what the Blessed Virgin Mary emphasizes to all her children in her 196th and 197th messages to the Hidden Flower of the Immaculate Heart. Our Lady points out the need to intensify our prayers and sacrifices to be battle ready for the time that will immediately precede the Triumph of Mary's Immaculate Heart which will usher in the glorious Reign of the Sacred Heart. HEADLINES:
Holy Father completes visit to Northern Italy and birthplace of Pope Paul VI without incident
Holy Father honors 100 year anniversary of Paul VI's birth      Despite reports of death threats last week, Pope John Paul II successfully completed his two day visit to Northern Italy without a hitch in which he honored the 100 year anniversary of the birth of Pope Paul VI by visiting his birthplace in Brescia as well as beatifying a Catholic lay man. It was Paul VI who bestowed the red hat on the Polish Cardinal Karol Wojtyla 31 years ago. Two months after Paul VI's death Karol would be chosen as John Paul II, the 264th successor of Peter. Republican Presidential Candidates urge a return to high moral values
Republican Presidential Candidates support return to morals     A gathering of Presidential hopefuls from the Republican Party spoke to the Christian Coalition this weekend and railed at the moral turpitude of this administration which has torn the fabric of family and values asunder with the Clinton fiascos and coverups by so many of Bill Clinton's appointees with no respect for God's laws. The entire assembly called for resignation or impeachment of the presidency in order to return this country to a virtuous direction as God intended. On heels of invitation to Pope to visit Romania, clashes break out between Catholics and Orthodox
Cardinal Michele Giordano      The age-old celebration of the "Miracle of Saint Januarius" in which a vile containing the saint's blood liquifies was used by the faithful in Naples as a guage to testify to the innocence of Cardinal Michele Giordano who has been harassed over the past several weeks by Italian authorities who accused him of racketeering simply because his brother is a member of the Mafia which the Cardinal vehemently condemned last week. Rome has backed the Cardinal and the people as well, especially after he held the vial and it liquified in his hands. For more, click on Miracle of St. Januarius.

Moment of truth facing Spanish legislators as they tackle Abortion issue
Spain at crossroads with abortion issue     It would seem to be no coincidence that the Spanish Parliament will convene today to debate whether abortion will be recognized as legal in a country long a Catholic stronghold because today is the feast of Saint Thomas of Villanova who was legend as a bishop in Spain for his great and holy influence over the Spanish bishops at a crucial time in that country's history during the Protestant Reformation. Priests and bishops throughout modern day Spain are taking up the battle cry in the spirit of St. Thomas of Villanova to stop abortion. For more, click on Spain

PRAYER & DEVOTIONS
Today's prayer honors a saint who is no longer celebrated in the modern liturgy, but who played a major role in preserving the faith in Spain. On his feast day as the Spanish legislature meets to determine the moral course Spain will take in 1998, we offer this prayer to Saint Thomas of Villanova, Bishop:

O God, Who, in a singular degree, didst bestow upon Blessed Bishop Thomas the virtue of compassion toward the poor; pour fourth we beseech Thee, through his intercession, the riches of Thy Mercy upon those who humbly implore Thee. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end. Amen.
