Money Trumps the Preborn

While so many pro-lifers see the Democrats as the ones who are aiding and abetting pro-aborts, these same pro-life advocates are being lulled into a compromising coma by Republicans and their president without even realizing it!

"Obviously, the easiest way for a career politician to win re-election is to pander to the lowest common denominator. A world where people are concerned principally about material well-being enables such career politicians to curry favor with voters by appealing to their pocket-books or by promising them what appears to be "free" entitlements from the government while the people themselves are diverted by bread and circuses. Thus, a world obsessed with carnal pleasure and material comfort and ease cannot be concerned with the slaughter of over 4,000 human beings in the womb in abortuaries in this country alone every day, no less the thousands more who die each day as a result of abortifacient contraceptives. No, money has to trump the blood of the innocent preborn in the perverse world in which we live."

Neoconservatives and professional Republicans have remained silent as President George W. Bush has betrayed the cause of the sanctity all innocent human life without exception time and time again. A man who would never appoint racists or anti-Semites to his administration gets a free pass when he appoints pro-abort after pro-abort after pro-abort to the upper echelons of his government. A man who says he wants to restore the integrity of the family here and abroad remains is never criticized by the neoconservatives for his proud funding of contraception as part of both domestic and international "family planning" programs. A man who says he supports "family values" feels emboldened to appoint a practicing sodomite as our ambassador to Romania, a country where sodomy is a civil crime, and to have his "partner" introduced at his swearing-in ceremony by the pro-abortion, pro-sodomite Secretary of State, Colin Powell. A man who says he wants every child "welcomed in life and protected by law" but actually supports the destruction of some lives in some instances is hailed when he permits the use of Federal monies for research on the stem-cells of embryonic human beings (while doing nothing to urge for legislation to end all private funding for such monstrous research). Ah, but let Bush do as many of us predicted that he would do, that is, bust the Federal budget, and the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity start to criticize him for failing to stick to principles of fiscal conservatism. Guess what, guys: if Bush can betray the innocent preborn time and time and again (and actually campaign for pro-aborts), what's the big deal about busting the budget? However, this proves once more than money trumps the preborn with so-called conservatives.

It should come as no surprise that President George W. Bush is doing exactly what his father tried to do after the Persian Gulf War ended in early March of 1991: prove to liberal Democrats that he is a really caring man who wants to solve their personal problems and ease whatever anxieties they might have if they are unable to provide for themselves and their families for every possible contingency that might occur to them in their lives. Apart from the fact that Bush is violating those terms of the United States Constitution which are actually consonant with the natural law principle of subsidiarity, he is demonstrating that he is simply a career politician who believes that the people can be bribed to retain him in office if he demonstrates his care and concern by the expenditure of their tax dollars. Lost on the likes of the Bushes is the simple fact that people would have more of their own money to take care of their temporal needs if the government did not tax them so excessively and if the vast expanse of needless Federal bureaucracy was excised to its very core. Alas, Bush believes that we the taxpayers and voters exist to enable him to remain in office. He labors under the very Protestant and Masonic belief that constituency groups which will never respect or support him will come to like him and support him if only he surrenders to their unjust and in many instances abjectly evil policy demands. That the Bushes have not learned this lesson is truly astounding. What Bush is doing at present is a recipe for sure electoral disaster in 2004.

While it is interesting that Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity have criticized Bush's budget-busting, constituency-pleasing ways (which have included a failure to enforce just immigration laws and the protection of our borders-and the continued involvement of the Federal government in education), Conservative Caucus Foundation President Howard Phillips has been charting the cooperation of Congressional Republicans with the statist agenda for nearly thirty years. No one does a better job of demonstrating how Republicans have never been serious about cutting the size of the Federal government or the extent of Federal spending. He pores through the Congressional Record each morning, arising as early as 4:00 a.m. to do so. He reviews speeches and statements and press releases, synthesizing them all into his twice-monthly Howard Phillips Issues and Strategy Bulletin. He has stood alone in his effort to expose the spendthrift ways of Congressional Republicans, especially in the wake of their refusal to stand up to then President William Jefferson Clinton in the budget battle of late 1995. Indeed, it has been Howard Phillips, along with Patrick Buchanan and Judie Brown and a handful of others, who has pointed out how Republicans have funded the anti-life agenda of both the Clinton and the Bush II administrations. It is criminal for the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity to continue to ignore a true lover of his country, Howard Phillips, and to ignore his prophetic insight into the nature of career politicians of both political parties.

Where Howard Phillips would part company from me is with my contention that the very nature of the American founding, as an expression of Protestantism and Masonry, inevitably leads to the triumph of the likes Clintons and Bushs and George Patakis and Michael Bloomberg (the militantly pro-abortion Mayor of the City of New York who is insisting that all medical residents in city-run hospitals be trained in the execution of innocent preborn children). However, as I demonstrated in my protracted commentary in the late-December 2000/early January 2001 issue of Christ or Chaos, it was indeed the overthrow of the Social Kingship of Jesus Christ as it was exercised during the Middle Ages by Holy Mother Church that resulted in the triumph of absolute despots, nationalism, and, ultimately, the triumph of various political ideologies and/or gangster organizations known as political parties to direct the fate of people and their nations. Once civil rulers are not subject to some earthly sanction for their violation of the binding precepts of the Divine positive law and the natural law, then they come to believe they are veritable secular saviors who have the means to solve a nation's problems, if not the world's. This results in the grotesque growth of the size and power of governments, the distortion of the legitimate functions of a government to administer justice according to the mind of Justice Incarnate and to foster those conditions wherein individuals can better save their souls (as well as for providing for the safety and health of citizens in times of emergencies), and actual warfare made against all that is holy, especially as protected by Holy Mother Church.

Obviously, the easiest way for a career politician to win re-election is to pander to the lowest common denominator. No, money has to trump the blood of the innocent preborn in the perverse world in which we live.

The only antidote to all of this is to plant the seeds for the Social Kingship of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Queenship of our dear, dear Blessed Mother. It will not be until we are earnest about doing so that the unchanging precepts of fundamental justice founded in the Splendor of Truth Incarnate will once again restrain career passions and produce leaders concerned about the common good and the subordination of everything in a nation's culture to the standard of the Holy Cross.
