O God, Who dost gladden us by the annual feast of blessed Eusebius, Thy Martyr and Bishop: mercifully grant that we who celebrate his Heavenly birthday, may also rejoice in his protection. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.
Rejoice in the Lord always: again I say, rejoice. Let your modesty be known to all men: for the Lord is nigh. Be nothing solicitous: but in every thing by prayer let your petitions be made known to God - (Ps. 84: 2). Lord, Thou hast blessed Thy land: Thou hast turned away the captivity of Jacob. V. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Hear us, O God, our Savior; that as we rejoice in the feast of blessed Lucy, Thy Virgin and Martyr, so we may be taught by its devotion towards Thee. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.
O God, Who hast willed that, placed as we are under the especial patronage of the most Blessed Virgin Mary, we should receive an abundant measure of unceasing favors: grant to us, Thy suppliant people, whose joy it is this day to honor her upon earth, for evermore to be made happy by seeing her in Heaven. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.
Eternal Shepherd, regard graciously Thy flock, and keep it with an everlasting protection, by the intercession of blessed Damasus, Thy Sovereign Pontiff, whom Thou hast constituted Shepherd of the whole Church. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.
Eternal Shepherd, regard graciously Thy flock, and keep it with an everlasting protection, by the intercession of blessed Melchiades, Thy Martyr and Sovereign Pontiff, whom Thou hast constituted Shepherd of the whole Church. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.
O God, Who by the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin didst prepare a worthy dwelling place for Thy Son: we beseech Thee, that as by the foreseen death of the same Thy Son, Thou didst preserve her from all stain, so Thou wouldst grant unto us also, through her intercession, to come unto Thee with clean hearts. Through the same Jesus Christ, Our Lord, Thy Son Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.
O God, Who didst give blessed Ambrose as a minister of eternal salvation to Thy people: grant, we beseech Thee, that we, who have had him for our teacher on earth, may deserve to have him for our advocate in Heaven. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.
O Lord God, sanctify, we beseech Thee, these gifts which we offer up on the festival of Thy holy Bishop Nicholas: that by means of them our life may ever be directed both in adversity and in prosperity. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.
May the intercession of Blessed Sabbas, Thy Abbot, commend us unto Thee, we beseech Thee, O Lord: so that what we may not have by any merits of ours, we may obtain by his patronage. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.
O God, Who didst choose blessed Peter Chrysologus, the illustrious Doctor, and miraculously point him out to rule and instruct Thy Church: grant, we beseech Thee, that as we may have had him for our teacher on earth, we may be worthy to have him for our intercessor in Heaven. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.
O God, Who by the preaching and miracles of blessed Francis, wast pleased to join to Thy Church the nations of the Indies: mercifully grant, that we who venerate his glorious merits, may likewise follow the example of his virtues. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.
O God, the Giver of all good gifts, Who in Thy handmaid Bibiana didst to the flower of virginity join the palm of martyrdom: do Thou, through her intercession so unite our minds in the bond of charity to Thee, that all dangers being done away, we may obtain everlasting rewards. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.
The First Sunday of Advent is the first day of the Liturgical Year. The Mass for the first Sunday prepares us for the double coming (adventus) of mercy and justice. That is why St. Paul tells us, in the Epistle, to cast off sin in order that, being ready for the coming of Christ as our Savior, we may also be ready for His coming as our Judge, of which we learn in the Gospel. Let us prepare ourselves, by pious aspirations and by the reformation of our life for this twofold coming. Jesus Our Lord wil reward those who yearn for Him and await Him. "Those who trust in Him shall not be confounded."
Stir up Thy power, we beseech Thee, O Lord, and come: that farom the threatening dangers of our sins we may deserve to be rescued by Thy protection, and to be saved by Thy deliverance. Who livest and reignest with God the Father, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.
