The devil is getting his due!

The sands are shifting. After eight long years in the desert of destruction, the oasis is within sight and from all indications over the past few days, it is not a mirage. President George W. Bush has wasted no time in establishing the fact he truly is Pro Life and shame on many of the bishops and pastors for not realizing this sooner. Forget politics, this is about morals and values. And values is something Bush is emphasizing, from his excellent Inaugural Address where he referred to parts of Job, Isaiah, Paralipomenon/Chronicles, Psalms, Luke, First Corinthians and Hebrews, to his strong words Monday. The latter were conveyed by staunch Pro Life New Jersey Congressman Chris Smith, but the words were pure Bush.

Why are so many people, including many Catholics, surprised at his actions. He, unlike his predecessor, is a man of his word. He never denied he was Pro Life. He acutely followed Our Lord's advice to His Apostles In Matthew 10: 16 to "Be therefore wise as serpents, and guiless as doves." He was careful not to agitate the pro-aborts until he was in place where he can effectively carry out his Pro Life platform. That is another reason to pray for John Ashcroft and not be too alarmed that he's walking a tightrope right now with the pounding he's getting by Ted Kennedy.

Whenever I hear his name I'm reminded of Christ's strong, haunting words throughout Chapter 23 in Matthew on the Scribes and the Pharisees and how many times He used the word "hypocrites!" Yes, Kennedy is the greatest of the modern Pharisees. How can a man of his ilk and sins, accuse others? Here is a man who has had various trysts, failed to answer key questions in the whole sad Mary Kopechne tragedy. It seems it's politically incorrect to talk about it. Why? The whole matter has conveniently been shoved under the bridge figuratively and literally. What galls loyal Catholics the most is the fact that he still calls himself a Catholic when in truth he is no more Catholic than Joe Lieberman. Kennedy is an imposter of great proportions and that is the only time you'll ever hear me using the superlative with him save for his ample waistline from years of stuffing himself at the lobbyists' table.

But ol' Teddy is not alone in the hypocrite department. Bill Clinton the x-president - as in "x-rated" - ranks right up there at the top. He cemented the fact he was a liar with the plea bargaining at the eleventh hour. To this day he still brags about his sexploits. Does he realize how much damage he personally has done to the moral fibre of this nation over the past eight years? He has left an indelible smudge on America that will be hard to wipe off in eternity. Pray for his soul. He desperately needs help. So do the desperate radicals who still are demanding a recount. Guess what? I agree, let's recount the votes in 1992 and 1996! It's ridiculous. Put the past behind and move on.

It seems, finally, that Al Gore has. Yes, we were tough on him because he would have continued the loathsome legacy Clinton began, sans the smut. To Gore's credit he finally bowed out gracefully. That's more than you can say about Mr. C. Thought he'd never go away Saturday, seeking to steal the limelight from George W. at every opportunity, but then, did you expect anything else from him? Respected Columnist George F. Will had it right when he said that Clinton would go down in history not necessarily as the worst president ever, but definitely as the worst person to ever hold the office. Truer words were never said.

Yet the Scribes fawn all over him and his cult. One of those liberal laggers is Jesse Jackson. I know, I'm supposed to put "Reverend" before his name. Why? What makes him a religious man? Through his actions he has lost any moral authority he might have had. He long has been nothing but a lobbyist with an axe to grind and one who is not happy unless he is attacking. Did the African American population appoint him as their leader? No, it was the powerful non-profit lobby PUSH that forced their way onto the scene trying to ride the coattails of a man who earned the title Reverend - Reverend Martin Luther King. King prodded consciences, Jackson prods tempers. He's mastered the craft and, because of him, the African American voice is distorted today, not represented in the true manner they should be. He has a sense of self-entitlement about him that has not been earned but acquired through the bully pulpit. His power is a facade. The people are being steered in this misdirection by a clever, conspired contingent of his cronies. Rather than holding up values and ideals that elevate the black man, Jesse seeks to stir the baser instincts that shackles man no matter what color their skin. Whatever he has wrought, he has brought antipathy on himself for his mean-spirited rhetoric and his immoral actions.

And many who follow Jackson seek to emulate not Martin Luther King, but men like Rae Carruth, the former Carolina Panther wide receiver out of the University of Colorado. Carruth didn't make headlines for catching touchdowns, but for touching whatever he wanted and getting his way whenever he wanted. He personified the taunting and strutting that is so prevalent in sports today and he also personified the greed, recklessness and disregard for God's laws that leads in only one direction down the wrong road. It eventually catches up to them. It did Carruth. Oh, he was not charged with first degree murder, but because of his pro abort stance, he got himself in trouble. Because of the conviction against him that it truly is a crime to attack an unborn child in the womb, a precedent has been set that could help overturn Roe vs. Wade. God works in mysterious and wondrous ways. He allows evil for good.

And that is the real problem I have with this whole racial issue that Jackson keeps harping on. He's abusing good for evil. He's supposedly a religious man, yet he keeps playing the race card. Doesn't he realize it doesn't matter the color of your skin, only the color of your soul. Rather than emulating successful black leaders like Alan Keyes, J.C. Watts or Colin Powell, the rebel rousers guarding the ghettos want to suppress and stir. Nevermind telling them the truth. It's better to blame and be bitter! Nevermind teaching a man to fish so he can eat for the rest of his life, followers of Jackson want to be spoon fed the bitter bile of slavery, prejudice, poverty and hatred without taking responsibility for their actions. They want the rest of the country to support them while they seek to attack the hand that feeds them. What kind of philosophy or path is this? It is one that leads to division and that is what Jackson is best at. But, like Clinton, he can't let go.

Many thought we'd heard the last of him for awhile when he had his come-uppance over his extramarital adulterous affair that was exposed last week. We pray for him and bless him for not advising abortion to the young lady with whom he fathered a child out of wedlock. But what he did was wrong and it greatly affects his judgment, his position in the community and his influence. He doesn't think so. Beware, remember Christ's words in Matthew 7: 21, "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven." From his actions, it doesn't sound like it's God's will, but Jesse's will. Unlike the sinner whom Jesus forgave with the stern rebuke to "Go thy way, and from now on sin no more" (John 8: 11), Jesse is repentant only because he got caught. That's it in a nutshell! Proof of that is his announced hiatus lasted only a few days - a long weekend if you will - before he launched himself back into the limelight with a virulent attack on Bush and his policies. Doesn't sound like a man sowing love and contrition.

Yet the media treats him with kid gloves while going after John Ashcroft. The media crucify Newt Gingrich for a book deal, while forgiving Hillary Clinton for one that garnered twice as much money. The Scribes and Pharisees launch a warning against Ashcroft for his religious beliefs, but sound the trumpet of joy when Lieberman waxes religious. Where it's okay to attack the religious right, we get the same old tired refrain from the Left, "Oh, we don't want to put the country through that." In other words, the Scribes and Pharisees have already determined that double standards are allowed for them. They jumped all over Ashcroft for declaring "I have no king but Jesus!" But then, "if they have persecuted Me, they will persecute you also; if they have kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him Who sent Me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin. But now they have no excuse for their sin" (John 15: 20-22).

Bill Clinton, Jesse Jackson, the entire liberal Left have no more excuses. The underbelly of their lies and hypocrisy have been exposed. From Planned Parenthood to NARAL, from NOW to PUSH, from the Democratic Party to those who think they have escaped punishment by pulling the wool over the public's eyes, cleverly concealed with accomplices in the liberal media - know you're not fooling God. He knows what is in your heart and the longer you give it to satan, the longer you shall suffer in eternity. Possibly forever! We could give you all kinds of advice, but you wouldn't listen. We could give you tough love, but you would reject it. We could give you kindness, but you'd be suspicious that it was a trap. In truth, there's very little we could give you other than a total compromise and abandonment of the values and virtues Christ teaches. So therefore, there are only two things we can give you that you cannot refuse, cannot throw away, cannot squander in your continued lies, or confuse in the credo of relativism. The only thing we can give you is our love because you are made in His image and likeness; yes, Him - Jesus Christ, King of Kings, Son of God. Oh, and the way we give you that love: through Prayer! That's something that really bugs the evil one and by killing them with love, we can better disarm satan. How wonderful that, after eight long years, the devil is getting his due!
