Explanation of Editor Michael Cain's weekly editorial CATHOLIC PewPOINT
INTRODUCTION
For the past ten years Michael Cain has used the forum of his editorial CATHOLIC PewPOINT to uphold the teachings, dogmas, doctrines and traditions of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. Each week he brings a pertinent perspective to various events in the world or Church today and how it applies to us as loyal Catholics striving to live as Christ asks. A product of a solid cradle Catholic education largely before Vatican II, he enthusiastically embraces the decrees and documents proclaimed at the Second Vatican Council and points out that society within and outside the Church have diluted what is important, what is valued, what is sacred. He steadfastly clings to the values, ethics and principles of all the Church teaches and uses these to remind all of our duty to return to full obedience to Rome. Often times this means taking on those who rub against the Holy See both inside the Church and in the secular world. He is not afraid to tackle any issue and no one, save Christ and the Heavenly Saints including the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Angels, are off limits. He has taken on cardinals and bishops, visionaries and politicians, authors and the media when they strive from the path of Rome. Conversly, he strives to elevate cardinals and bishops, visionaries and politicians, author and members of the media when they live as God wills. Most of the time he speaks in the majestic plural, mainly because he is not one person speaking his opinion but speaking in unison with the staff of the DAILY CATHOLIC and loyal Catholics who are obedient to the Vicar of Christ on earth and the Magisterium of the Church.
In our editorial this week, we look back with awe and gratitude for this joyous and historic Jubilee Year that has reminded us daily of our roots and the precious gift of our Faith and the great leadership Holy Mother Church has been blessed with in Pope John Paul II. It was over a year ago that the secular media and many liberals within the Church were saying the Pope was too frail and too old to continue, that the Church needed a younger, more active Pontiff. Indeed, even in the face of tremendous contradiction, they continue this diatribe of dissing. When will they learn? We would say, after some 30 million pilgrims later, that they are once again exposed for the modernists they are for the Holy Father has exceeded all expectations in maintaining an itinerary that would exhaust a healthy young man, let alone a holy saint who turned 80 this past May. With every Jubilee celebration week in and week out, the world could see that in John Paul the Great we have a modern giant among all men, the one man who can be trusted globally, and the one man we must follow and heed for he is the Vicar of Christ who Christ sent to us for these trying times. All Jesus has asked His children to do is to try and He will do the rest. And, like Christ in so many ways, our beloved Supreme Pontiff has demonstrated the virtues of being the Servant of the servants. Now all we have to do is emulate his example, cross the threshold of Hope as the Holy Father encourages, and we will realize the fruits of this landmark Jubilee Year and experience our epiphany as we explain in our commentary, A true epiphany of enlightenment!
