Christ wants to mirror His Mercy and Glory in the outward manifestations that man erects to reflect thanks and adoration to God

"He desired to establish this devotion to the Sacred Heart as a further benefice and aid for man to achieve salvation. There is a tendency in our times to try to reduce this aspect of Christ as manifested in the magnificence and wealth of the Church - in Her cathedrals, altars, liturgy, ceremonies, etc. Thus could devotion to His Sacred Heart be interpreted as a legitimation and even the glorification of the superfluous."

The Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar

"Hoc est enim corpus Meum. Hic est enim calix sanguinis Mei. Novi et aeterni testamenti: Mysterium fidei: Qui pro vobis et pro multis effundetur in remissionem peccatorum."

   In our 234th installment of our catechetical series on My Catholic Faith we continue our series on the most august Sacrament of the Most Holy Eucharist with part four, the The New Sacrifice that explains the vital importance of why Christ gave us, until the end of the world, Himself, present Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. This series will delve extensively in future issues into the meaning of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. At the words spoken by the priest at the Consecration in the Canon of the Mass, the bread and wine are confected into the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. Those words, spoken by Christ, are gleaned from Matthew 26: 26-28, Mark 14: 22-24, and Luke 22: 19-20. It is the New Covenant - the New Sacrifice that replaces the old sacrafice, the old covenant.
