Got Life?

There is nothing more important, nothing more precious than life. God provides it as the nurturing milk of civilization! Why do pro-aborts insist on making it sour?
In this issue Joe Dalton shares the blessings of his own family and provides excellent arguments why the Sanctity of Life is so high on his agenda because he wants to share the great merits and graces of family and the gift of life with others. While many point to the fact there are other issues, with Joe there really is only one issue for that is the foundation of everything else: Life! For his column Get a Life! , see FAITH IN THE FAMILY

Cardinal Egan: We implore you to call New York Congressman Jose Serrano to task for his unyielding pro-abortion stance.

Cardinal Egan Cardinal McCarrick   Today's "Herod's Hero" is the Democratic Congressman from the Bronx, the Honorable Jose E. Serrano. There's nothing honorable about how he, as a 'Catholic,' has promoted the culture of death. We call on him to repent and for his shepherd in New York City Cardinal Edward M. Egan, along with His Eminence's fellow conclave member and Serrano's ruling prelate in Washington D.C. Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, to issue the ultimatum of the "Bell, Book, and Candle" if he will not hear even the Church. We beg of the Bishops, to stand up for the Roman Catholic Church, to exact the discipline all Catholics are expected to follow. By Serrano's pro-abortion record during his 7 terms in office he has turned away from God by showing a disdain for Catholic doctrine and being a willing accomplice to satan. We implore him to amend his ways, to turn away from embracing the pro-abort stance with no mercy for the lives of millions of unborn. For another betrayer who seeks to perpetuate the culture of death and slay the innocents, see HEROD'S HEROES

The Gulf between the Traditional Guelfs and Neo-conservative ones

"The members of the Church today have become fixated on the here and now and the past traditions are not only irrelevant but to be distrusted and even, at times, demonized."

Today we begin a two-part treatise by Father Chad Ripperger, professor of theology for the Priestly Order of Saint Peter Seminary in Lincoln, Nebraska - a diocese with a strong, orthodox shepherd in Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz. Many Catholics have been confused on what to believe and why the great chasm between modernist thinking and orthodox thinking within the Church, between the bishops. Why has the amchurch gained such credence with so many neo-conservatives. Fr. Chad puts it as well as we have read yet. He syllogizes exactly what happened, the mindset of why and the how extrinsic tradition was discarded. Note, our series Gift of Faith will run Saturday. For the first of his excellent two part argument, see Exspectans exspectavibus Ecclesia Dei

Is the Holy Father close to a decision on the Society of St. Pius X?

On March 22nd Pope John Paul II summoned Curial heads to ask for their input in reconciling with the Society of St. Pius X in light of the intensive talks that have been going on inside the Vatican over the past two months between Rome and the bishops ordained by the late Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre. One thing that is both disturbing and encouraging is who is opposing it. That would be the recently appointed controversial choice of Cardinal Walter Kasper, the new head of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of Christian Unity. This German prelate is a known liberal at the far end of the axis from fellow countryman Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger and that might just tip the scale in the favor of the Traditionalists in the Church who realize the need to reconcile with the Lefebrists. Another museum seeking cheap publicity at the expense of the Church with a scurilous depiction of the Blessed Virgin Mary on display

Here we go again. Less than a month after the obscene and sacriligeous Yo Mama's Last Supper in Brooklyn, now a museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico, a haven for bleeding-heart liberals, is exhibiting the chaste and pure Blessed Mother in a scandalous bikini and Archbishop Michael J. Sheehan of the archdiocese of Santa Fe is furious, calling it "yet another trashing of Catholicism." For more, see USA News

The moneygrubbers at Planned Barrenhood won't be able to count on those funds now thanks to the law and common sense. For more, see Pro Life News

    Psalms: Psalm 106: 19-23
    Gospel Reading: John 5: 31-47

"But if you believed Moses you would believe Me also, for he wrote of Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?"    John 5: 46-47

The Voice of the Disciple

What I have promised, I will give; what I have said, I will fulfill; if only a man continue to the end faithful in My love. I am the rewarder of all the good, and keenly test all the devout. Write My words in thy heart, and ponder them diligently; for they will be very necessary in the time of temptation.

Father Michael J. McGivney St. Mary's The Call to be Knights is heard!

On this day 119 years ago in 1882, the Catholic fraternal organization the Knights of Columbus received its charter. It was founded by Father Michael J. McGivney, priest of St. Mary's Church in New Haven, Connecticut who saw the need for providing for widows and families and promoting Catholicity among Catholic men. Today the organization boasts a membership of 1.6 million men comprising 11,000 plus councils of First, Second and Third Degree Knights, not to mention the higher Fourth Degree and its Assemblies plus their proteges - the Squires and their Circles. The Knights showed their leadership clout in cooperating with the Bishops in all aspects of parish life, evangelization and the at the forefront of the pro-life movement. They provided large posters for the thousands to carry during the most recent March for Life on January 22nd in Washington D.C. Also, through the Knights' charitable donations in the hundreds of millions they were able to bring many Jubilee events into living rooms last year and continue to bring ceremonies at the Vatican and the Holy Father's key Masses to the masses world-wide. On December 18, 1997 the canonization process was introduced for Fr. McGivney. For other Time Capsule events that happened Today in Church history, see Daily TIME CAPSULES in Church History

Passion is merely the echo of knowledge!

"Passion has its seat in the body or the animal nature of man. It is the echo of the knowledge in our physical structure but it is not knowledge. Passion implies sensible changes, such as the flushing of the cheeks, the dilating of the pupils and the tensing of many muscles."

Monthly Medjugorje Message for March 2001

"Dear children! Also today I call you to open yourselves to prayer. Little children, you live in a time in which God gives great graces but you do not know how to make good use of them. You are concerned about everything else, but the least for the soul and spiritual life. Awaken from the tired sleep of your soul and say yes to God with all your strength. Decide for conversion and holiness. I am with you, little children, and I call you to perfection of your soul and of everything you do. Thank you for having responded to my call."
