Shock & Dismay!

Disciplined and Expelled at a Catholic university for upholding Catholic Teaching!?!

Is Father Michael Scanlan aware of how the culture of death is infesting his highly regarded Franciscan University?

A pro-abort bent we might expect from a liberal Jesuit university like Georgetown, or, even Notre Dame, to mention a few that have gone astray, but Franciscan University at Steubenville? The university Father Michael Scanlan resurrected to be totally in line with Catholic ideals? Never! At least that's what so many had thought, but Dr. Brian J. Kopp has just provided documentation that indicates an alarming prejudice toward, and persecution of, those who advocate the Catholic doctrine of Pro-life and chastity. This cancer of the culture of death and accepting condoms and contraception as 'approved measures' has pervaded the Graduate Nursing Program at this esteemed institution. The proof is provided in a letter from one of those expelled for her standing up for Catholic ideals. Just as Father Peter West of Priests for Life was kicked out of a Catholic school by pro-abort 'Catholics' during a political rally for a known pro-abort who claimed to be Catholic, so also professors at a highly regarded university are fostering the pro-abort platform for their students. Lucille Canty claims this is true. Dr. Kopp has confirmation from a doctor and friend he trusts, yet he is looking into it for absolute proof therefore the article is on hold. "Father, forgive them..."

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass has always been a refuge from this world in preparation for the next. Today's liturgy seeks to glorify the now by diminishing the everlasting Sacrifice.

"The tradition dismissed so readily by our contemporary liturgical revolutionaries does not belong to our 'immediate predecessors.' Most of the elements of the Traditional Latin Mass were in place by the fifth century. It is not culture-bound to a particular time or place. Indeed, its very nature conveys the eternal, the transcendent...The Traditional Latin Mass sought to uplift souls in the things of God, not to hold them bound to the things and the spirit of this passing world. Holy Mass is a reminder to us of the permanence of First and Last Things. It is a refuge from this world, not a glorification of it."

In today's issue Thomas A. Droleskey, Ph.D. brings us the fifth part of his fascinating, logical, factual and frank treatise on ferreting out the doublespeak and contradictions contained in the General Instruction to the Roman Missal (GIRM) which has confused so many and, instead of clearing up abuses, only is a license to experiment some more, all contributing to the continuing deconstruction of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass that sustained the Church and her faithful for some 1,500 years. For his column, Tearing down Tradition, see CHRIST or chaos

The Risen Christ is the key to unlocking the prison of our perceptions.

In her column today, Sister Mary Lucy Astuto asks if we truly realize what the Resurrection of Our Lord means to us. She points out that rather than being fateful we should be grateful for all that He has given us. He is the key to whether we make our lives something special and look to the stars in seeking not to hide our talents under the bushel basket, or wallow in the mud of malaise and victimhood with the constant complaint 'I can't' always on our psyche. It is our choice because He has risen. Let's get out of the tomb and enjoy life and thank Him for it. For her column Do you have an attitude of gratitude? see Getting to the Heart of the Matter.

Bishop John Smith: We implore you to call New Jersey Congressman Frank Pallone to task for his unyielding pro-abort stance.

Today's "Herod's Hero" is the Democratic Representative in the United States House from New Jersey's 6th District, the Honorable Frank Pallone. There's nothing honorable about how he, as a 'Catholic,' has promoted the culture of death. We call on him to repent and for his shepherd in the Diocese of Trenton Bishop John M. Smith along with Pallone's shepherd in Washington D.C. Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, to issue the ultimatum of the "Bell, Book, and Candle" if he will not hear even the Church. We beg of the Bishops, to stand up for the Roman Catholic Church, to exact the discipline all Catholics are expected to follow. By Pallone's horrendous 100% pro-abortion record during his five terms in the House, he has turned away from God by showing a disdain for Catholic doctrine and being a willing accomplice to satan. We implore him to amend his ways, to turn away from embracing the pro-abort stance with no mercy for the lives of millions of unborn. For another betrayer who seeks to perpetuate the culture of death and slay the innocents, see HEROD'S HEROES

Easter Friday

Today we continue the Octave of Easter throughout this week which symbolizes the spiritual feast of Baptism for the newly baptized keep their white baptismal garments and their souls white and pure in Sanctifying Grace. The Masses of the Octave allude, like that of Pentecost, sometimes to the Resurrection, sometimes to Baptism. Both ways it reminds us to proclaim our faith in the risen Christ Jesus. Each day you will find the liturgy for both the Novus Ordo and the daily liturgy of the Tridentine Traditional Latin Mass - the Tridentine Rite per Ecclesia Dei. For today and tomorrow's liturgies, see DAILY LITURGY

"All power in Heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and behold, I am with you all days, even unto the consummation of the world." Matthew 28: 18-20

"Today bring Me the souls who are detained in Purgatory, and immerse them in the abyss of My Mercy. Let the torrents of My Blood cool down their scorching flames. All these souls are greatly loved by Me. They are making retribution to My Justice. It is in Your power to bring them relief. Draw all the indulgences from the treasury of My Church and offer them on their behalf. Oh, if you only knew the torments they suffer, you would continually offer for them the alms of the spirit and pay off their debt to My Justice."

Today we continue with the Novena of Divine Mercy which will conclude with DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY next week. This Novena was imparted to Saint Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun of the 1930's who is known as the "Apostle of Mercy" and was canonized last year on April 28th in Rome. For this eighth day of the Novena and Chaplet of Divine Mercy, see EIGHTH DAY OF DIVINE MERCY NOVENA

Mother Angelica Birthday Blessings to Mother Angelica

Today is the 78th Birthday of Mother Mary Angelica of the Annunciation, affectionately known to all as simply Mother Angelica, the founder of the Eternal Word Media Network worldwide. She was born on April 20, 1923 to John and Mae Helen Gianfransisco in Canton, Ohio. One of the beautiful fruits of her vocation is that her own mother joined her order before her death. Throughout Mother Angelica's seven decades she has given her fiat totally to God. Guided by the Holy Spirit in founding the largest Catholic Media network in the world in EWTN as well as founding an Order of Religious for both nuns and priests, she has become the beacon for orthodoxy and true allegiance to Rome. Without Mother Angelica's influence, who knows how far the liberals might have progressed. Thanks to God's Italian-descent instrument - with the wry sense of humor and no-nonsense, yet humble approach - there is still some hope for the faithful of fending off the possibility of being totally engulfed by the amchurch. Last year her birthday fell on Holy Thursday, making it difficult to celebrate during the Paschal Triduum. This year, in Eastertide, she can really whoop it up. Congratulations, Mother, may you have many more! For other Time Capsule events that happened Today in Church history, see TIME CAPSULES

Christ's Resurrection dignified both His Divinity and His humanity.

"The Resurrection is the only answer to the question of the breach that we all feel psychologically in ourselves between the body and the soul. Some thinkers through the ages sacrificed the body to the soul; today the tendency is to sacrifice the soul to the body. The Resurrection reveals the sacredness of both. No mere rational doctrine of immortality can do this perfectly. Furthermore, as for the Risen Lord, it lifts Him out of history and makes it possible for Him to enter into new relations with mankind."

We had hoped to bring you more comprehensive news after Easter. However, until we can get more help, it is not possible to keep up with this massive project and publish a new issue each day. They will give you the most up-to-date news you can count on to give you a fair and balanced perspective in respect to the universal Church.
