July is the month when Americans proudly sport the red, white and blue! It's everywhere as flags fly from garages to skyscrapers and the bombs burst in air with the colorful fireworks of the Fourth of July festivities. Mel Gibson's blood-soaked, battle-rousing movie "The Patriot" has rekindled an interest in the Revolutionary War. Now, 224 years later King George III is no longer the enemy nor Britain; rather she has become our staunchest ally over the past century. No the real enemy is ourselves for we are being taxed into the abyss. The battle cry in 1776 was "No taxation without representation" and much blood was shed to break from England's tyranny. The men who fought for these principals sacrificed much because they believed in the cause. It is no coincidence that the red stripes in Old Glory symbolize the blood of those who died for our country. Not just the countless soldiers and militia of the Revolutionary Army, but the 56 signers who signed the Declaration of Independence. Nine of the 56 died on the battle field; twelve had their homes looted and burned; five were captured by the redcoats and tortured to death as traitors; two lost sons to the war; two more had sons captured by the British. Many died penniless though they were wealthy men. 24 were lawyers and jurists; 11 were merchants; nine were farmers and large plantation owners. Three were Catholics: Thomas Fitzsimmons, Daniel Carroll and Charles Carroll of Carrollton. 47 out of 56 were men of great means and well-educated. These men who forged our independence in blood, knew the consequences, but they believed.
The day before Independence Day we celebrate the Feast of another who gave his blood for a greater cause - Saint Thomas, the Doubting Apostle. He grew in faith, coming a long way from the man who questioned his fellow disciples on whether Jesus had truly risen from the dead and was amongst them in the Upper Room. He had to see for himself. Unlike so many other disciples, he needed proof. But he, like his fellow Apostles save for John, gave their lives for the cause of Independence, the independence and redemption Christ brought through His Death and Resurrection. Those 56 signers of the Declaration of Indenpence didn't need proof, they believed, just as the countless martyrs of the 20th century believed and gave up everything for a greater prize: eternal salvation. Both groups believed in God and country, no matter what land they were from. Realize the wording: "God and country," not "country and God."
Abraham Lincoln wrote, "We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven; we have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity; we have grown in numbers, wealth and power as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God." The 16th President of the United States also said, "We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us." Though it was written over 150 years ago, it verifies that America has veered far away from God today. We have forgotten God. Over the past several decades, especially this most recent one, many in the United States have worked ceaselessly to remove "God" altogether. Catholics and Christians are being taxed to comply with a society that eschews God's Laws and elevates vice to a new high. Like their leader satan, they are clever and manipulating. Like King George, they use legal means to effect their end. But is it fair? No way! Yet those who sit in the highest positions of this land have decreed it so. From the president to the vice president, from the head of the Justice Department to the Supreme Court, they have ignored the God-given rights of those who the 56 signers gave their lives for. Tertullian wrote, "the blood of the marytrs is the seed for Christianity," so also the blood of the millions and millions of unborn is the seed for righting the ship and reestablishing decency and moral right.
But we can't right the ship as long as the tyrant is in power. That tyrant stems from the Democratic Party, which in earlier times was an ally and help to Catholics. Yet since Roe vs. Wade they have turned tyrant and totally ignored
God's Laws. Yet, out of ignorance, apathy or deliberate disregard for what the Roman Catholic Church teaches, there are many who still call the Democratic Party home and refuse to extricate themselves from the party of death. They cling to roots established by their great grandparents, grandparents and even parents who leaned on the Party of the People back then to aid Catholics in tougher times. But the times have become soft, morals greatly relaxed due in large part to legislature enforced by Democrats. They have betrayed the Church, yet men like Ted Kennedy refuse to consider themselves the Benedict Arnolds of the teachings and doctrines of the Church and stubbornly think they can promote the culture of death and remain united with Rome. Yet, because of prosperity, many Catholics remain Democrats, trying to rationalize their position by saying there are other issues. Would God buy that excuse? Would millions and millions of aborted babies believe those alibis? These Catholic Democrats point to the other Party - the Republican Party as being uncaring for the poor, the lower classes and prejudicial toward the rich. But this is all rhetoric for the grand GOP is no longer the Party of fat cats and the Dems are no longer concerned with the welfare of the poor unless they can legislate welfare and bury the problems through mandatory government regulations that lessen the human dignity of man. The facts are the Republican platform with George W. Bush carrying the standard, is much more in alignment with Catholic Doctrine and God's Will than Bill Clinton crony Al Gore and the Democratic platform which promotes the culture of death and the spread of immorality by advocating the homosexual lifestyle.
Because of this, and because this election year is so pivotal in the ultimate outcome of America's soul and the end of the senseless holocaust of abortion, we hereby invite Catholics who have voted Democratic in the past to unite against the Democratic Party and declare their independence from the tyranny delivered by modern Democrats on the innocent pre-borns and our moral values. Catholics united have a strong, powerful voting bloc that can swing the vote to pro-life, but it isn't easy. It takes everyone rowing in the same direction. To accomplish this we need to start at the grass-roots level, the parishes and work up to the Dioceses to the United States Bishops Conference. The time has come to declare our independence from the tyranny of the culture of death and therefore, with apologies to the original 56 signers and Thomas Jefferson who drafted the original Declaration of Independence document, we present the:
When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men from conception to old-age are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. Such has been the patient sufferance of these Souls; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present Democratic Party is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over souls in these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world. The Clinton Administration, with Bill Clinton, Vice President Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, and other Democratic pro-abort leaders and promoters as major principals, have refused their Assent to God's Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good. They have forbidden their Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance especially Partial-Birth Abortion bans, unless suspended in their operation till the Supreme Court Assent should be obtained, and when so suspended, they have utterly neglected to attend to them. They have refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people - those who uphold the Sanctity of Life, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation as acknowledging the rights of pro-abortionists with no regard to God's Will, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only. They have called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing and deceiving them into compliance with their selfish measures. They have dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness their invasions on the rights of the innocent unborn and those who uphold their God-given right to life. They have refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected, demeaning pro-lifers as enemies of women and their selfish right to their bodies; whereby the Legislative powers and moral principles incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the meantime exposed to all the dangers of invasion from societal decay without, and loss of conscience within. They have endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of unborn children; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations into this life hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Liberties. They have obstructed the Administration of Justice, by placing in power one Janet Reno who has no respect for decency or the Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers that are in compliance with God's Laws. They have made Judges dependent on the Democratic Party platform alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries - selling their souls for temporary power. They have erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, prevent them from voicing God's concerns by blocking pro-lifers' involvement and eat out their substance through lawsuits by their militia within Planned Parenthood. They have kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies of abortionists, euthanasians and homosexual advocates, without the consent of our legislatures. They have affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power by legislating abortion on demand for military dependents and mandating inclusion of gays with no regard to consequences. They have combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our Moral Doctrine and unacknowledged by our laws; giving their Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:
They have abdicated Government here by declaring us out of God's Protection and, through their leader lucifer, waging War against us. They have plundered our schools, ravaged our family values, burnt our aspirations, and destroyed the lives of millions of pre-born people. They are at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to complete the works of death through the abortion pill and a license to kill, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of cruelty and perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation. They have constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas of the Barque of Peter to bear Arms against the legions of satan through prayer, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren by coercing them, or to fall themselves by their Hands in martyrdom. They have excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and have endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the blatant homosexual lifestyle and heterosexuals with no moral turpitude, whose known rule of warfare is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions by rationalizing and pushing their agenda on all. In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms. Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Party, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the political party of a free and God-fearing people. Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our Catholic brethren within the Democratic Party.
These Catholic die-hard Democrats have also been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War with satan, in God's Peace - always Friends. We, therefore, the Representatives of God's children in these United States of America, before God and conveyed to the General Congress in Los Angeles in August, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by the authority of the good People of God, solemnly publish and declare. That these unified for the Sanctity of Life are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent Souls; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to a Political Crown, and that all political connection between them and the Democratic Party - the party of our ancestors - is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent Souls, we have full Power to levy War on satan, conclude Peace with God, contract Alliances, establish Conversions, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent Souls may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other and to Jesus our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor. Jesus says in Monday's Gospel of John 20: 29, "Because thou has seen Me, thou hast believed. Blessed are they who have not seen, and yet have believed." In Wednesday's Gospel He also reminds us in Matthew 8: 28-34 of the possessed men and how He ordered the demons out of them and into the herd of swine who "rushed down the cliff into the sea, and perished in the water." Will Catholic Democrats blindly go along with the herd and plunge into the abyss by stubbornly voting the party line despite the paradox of virtues and overwhelming evidence against the Party platform? Or will they be saved from the demons of destruction by declaring their independence and return to God's Laws and moral strength by casting their vote for the Sanctity of Life despite their past affiliations? It's up to them. They must remember that like the martyrs of the 20th Century and the 56 signers, there will be hardships ahead, but if they pledge their hearts and souls, they can be assured of success in salvation. The only recourse is for all Catholics to rally behind the Party of Lincoln. By abdicating from the Democratic Party they can help all Catholics unite for the cause of God's Laws and save America's soul. Mexico just proved it can be done. They've shed the shackles of the PRI. Now it's America's turn to shed the shackles of the Party of Death - the Democratic Party. Believe it or not, we can make the difference, but we have to believe! God can move mountains if we only believe. Standing by our beliefs is the best way to declare our independence!
