Where is the outrage by Catholics against Al Gore? Do they realize what is at stake?

Today Dr. Frank Joseph pulls no punches in telling it like it truly is. Planned Parenthood and other pro-choice pro-abort organizations seem to have a cover-up of their own, which fits comfortably into the on-going culture of death society in which we live. He asks how any Catholic can justify vice president Al Gore's anti-Catholic stance by endorsing the groups who are out to oust the Vatican as a Permanent Observer. These groups are all staunch pro-abortion organizations who have as their agenda the culture of death for the sake of their own worldly gain and selfishness. Dr. Frank shows that none of that is worth a "hill of beans" for Christ made that perfectly clear in Mark 8: 36, "For what does it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, but suffer the loss of his own soul?" Dr. Joseph points out that to elect Gore by idly standing by or "voting Democratic again" will be playing right into satan's hands and stresse again that it's a matter of life and death and, in the end, we have to answer to the Creator of all life. For his column For what will it profit those who oppose the Church? , see Pro-Life Prescriptions: LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL!

For what will it profit those who oppose the Church?

Anti-Catholic groups led by National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL), Catholics For a Free Choice,(which is a joke-- they were probably just born Catholic, or just say they're Catholic) International Planned Parenthood, the Center for Reproductive Law, Policy and Women Leaders Online want the Vatican kicked out of the United Nations.

These same anti Catholic groups have enthusiastically endorsed Al Gore for president. A George W. Bush, presidency sends chills up their spines, because he is pro-life and will sign the ban on the barbaric partial-birth abortion. Gore, as Clinton did, will veto the ban on this gruesome procedure, if he is elected president.

These groups want no part of the Vatican's continuous messages, honoring the sanctity of human life in the United Nations. They are terrified that their satanist agenda will come to a screeching halt.

Jim Nicholson, a Catholic and the Republican National Committee Chairman, demanded that Al Gore repudiate these anti-Catholic groups who are calling for the eviction of the Vatican from the United Nations. Current and former Democrat members of Congress who have endorsed Gore are on the advisory board of the Women Leaders Online.

Nicholson said, "As a Catholic, I am appalled that Al Gore has courted the support of groups, whose mission is to oust the Vatican from the United Nations. For nearly 40 years, the Vatican has had 'observer' status at the UN -- which means it has no voting rights but can take active part in UN debates and conferences.

"Their anti-Catholic goal is to evict the Vatican from the UN -- to silence the voice of Pope John Paul and to prevent 1 billion Catholics from speaking up for morality and justice at the world's most prominent international forum.

"Does Al Gore agree with these anti-Catholic goals? If not, why does he refuse to stand up and repudiate them? Why doesn't Gore reject the endorsements of these anti-Catholic groups?

"The pattern here is disturbing," Nicholson added. "First, Al Gore and Hillary Clinton insulted Jewish Americans by kissing the ring of Al Sharpton, a racist and anti-Semite whose words and deeds have led to the deaths of Jews, blacks and others. Then Gore accepts the endorsement of NARAL, a group trying to diminish the Vatican."

Good for you Jim Nicholson. We Catholics need more people like you. Too many Catholics would not give this another thought. They will continue to vote for people who are trying to trash the Catholic Church.

How many time have you heard the Democrats refer to Church-going people as the Religious Right. As if believing and honoring God is some sort of an evil preoccupation. I for one, am proud to be referred to as being part of the Religious Right. And one of these days, Catholics will finally wake up and use their vote to get rid of these satanist inspired people.

NARAL is one of the nation's most powerful pro-abortion special interest groups. Its endorsement of Gore was expected since Gore continues to support the barbaric practice of partial birth abortion -- called a form of "infanticide" by US Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, who is a Democrat. Infanticide is just sugar coating for murder.

The truth is -- The Clinton/Gore administration don't want this cruel procedure banned, in order to pay back Hollywood, the abortion industry, feminists groups and all the other self indulgent people who supported them with money and votes. They want this option open in case a woman changes her mind late in her pregnancy -- she can still have her baby killed -- "legally." This is tragic and it is sick.

What hypocrisy -- Gore and his followers, falsely accused Bush of being Anti-Catholic, just because he spoke at Bob Jones University, where I might add, president Reagan and Alan keyes(who is a Catholic) have spoken -- as well as many others running for high offices, including Democrats. Then Gore turns around and coddles the most anti Catholic groups in America for their money and their vote.

The Media, which is mostly liberal, joined forces with Gore’s army in an attempt to slow down Bush, who was far ahead in the polls at the time. They resorted to this vicious lie, in an attempt to get the Catholic vote, in spite of the fact that George W. Bush’s brother, Jebb Bush, the governor of Florida, is a Catholic, as is his wife and both are pro-life. I'm wondering if they knew this, when they initiated their lies.

As Nicholson asked -- "where is Al Gore now?" Why isn't he condemning these anti-Catholic groups for trying to have the Vatican kicked out of the UN? I'll tell you where he is, Mr. Nicholson-- he's counting all the money that these groups have given to him to defeat Bush.

I would like to know -- where is the Media? Why aren't they all over Gore for cozying up to these people, who disdain Catholics? We all know why there is a double standard. Al Gore is pro-abortion all the way -- even in late term when a pair of scissors are plunged in the back of a baby's head when the entire baby is delivered, except for the head, which they make sure stays in the birth canal, when it is punctured, otherwise another three more inches and it would be murder. Then a catheter is inserted in the opening and the baby's brains are sucked out with a powerful machine. Even the fact that reliable studies showing that babies killed at 20 weeks gestation and after, suffer excruciating pain, doesn't bother Gore. Some studies, even earlier.

Gore made a statement that is still giving me nightmares. He said that he is PROUD to be for a woman, who chooses to kill her unborn baby, even while it is being born and suffers excruciating pain in the process, and who otherwise would have lived. Now, he did not say it, in those truthful words -- he said, "I am PROUD that I am for a woman's right to choose." The sugar coating sounds much better, does it not?

How is it possible that anyone walking the face of this planet could be "PROUD," that he is all for a mother if she chooses to kill her baby? Can anyone tell me -- what is there to be PROUD of? Is it the suffering, or is it the death of a human being that gives Gore a thrill?

Gore and Clinton are now in Hollywood -- collecting large sums of money from the movie and TV moguls. The same people, who flood the movies and television with filth.

In this day and age, how can parents sit with their children and watch TV. Even in the early evening -- all of a sudden, without warning, the trash, is right in front of you. The Clinton/Gore administration have made no real effort to get their Hollywood friends to clean up their act. Instead they try to appease the country, after every "children killing children" incident, by pushing for more gun laws, without enforcing the hundreds that are already in the books.

This administration, for some unknown reason cannot understand that when a society kills 1.4 million unborn babies a year, even while they're being born -- the perception that life is CHEAP, is the ultimate result. This disrespect for the sanctity of human life will rub off on the children. So when children kill children, we have only ourselves to blame. We had the vote and we threw it away.

One thing that I thank God for -- is the broad coalition of Evangelicals, Mormons, Muslims and Jews, who have come to the defense of the Holy See, even though the man who wants to be president, refuses to come to the aid of the Pope.

We Catholics, should have a belly full of being attacked on all sides. There are 60 million of us in the United States. 40 million of voting age. We can make a difference with our vote. No more, should Catholics vote with blinders on. The handwriting on the wall should be very clear to all of us by now.

It will be the Catholic vote that will determine if unborn babies continue be tortured and killed, even while they're being born and suffer excruciating pain. It will be the Catholic vote that will determine if the moral degeneracy of our country continues.

Do you want another 4-8 years of the most corrupt administration in our country's history? Do you want lying to continue in the White House? It must be contagious, because Gore denies he was ever pro-life, to appease his backers. Yet, when he was a congressman, he had an 84% pro-life voting record. NRLC has available a collection of letters sent by Congressman Gore to constituents, expressing various pro-life statements. For example, in an August 22, 1984 letter, Gore wrote, "I have strongly opposed federal funding of abortions. In my opinion, it is wrong to spend federal funds for what is arguably the taking of a human life. It is my deep personal conviction that abortion is wrong. Let me assure you that I share your belief that innocent human life must be protected and I have an open mind on how to further this goal."

However being pro-life was not conducive to climbing the political ladder, so he switched. Is this what is meant by the saying, selling one's soul to the devil for worldly gain? Do you want the killing of unborn babies to continue, as if they were house flies? Do you want a president who uses Catholics just for their vote, while at the same time, refusing to come to the aid of the Pope, when he is maligned by Gore's supporters?

If you can't take it any longer, seeing our once Godly country's morals sliding closer and closer into the abyss of hell, then you MUST vote for Bush, who when asked in one of the debates -- what person influenced his life the most -- he said, "Jesus Christ." For this answer, he was attacked by the liberal press. Bush's reply - "I had to answer truthfully." I thought Bush showed great courage for that answer. What a welcome surprise it was. We should not only vote for Bush, but also work on his behalf, to get him elected. A small price to pay for life.

Some of you may like Pat Buchanan, a Catholic, if he runs on the reform ticket, but the experts say that Buchanan's chances to win are very slim and he will get only about 6% of the vote and it will be taken away from Bush and ultimately the pro-life vote. If that happens then Gore will be our next president and he will, as Clinton did, veto the ban on the barbaric partial-birth abortion and thousands of babies will be brutally killed every year, who otherwise would have lived. We CANNOT take that kind of a chance with human lives. Buchanan should give this serious thought, before he puts his ego first.

There are other issues being debated, but none as important as the killing of God's most precious creations. There is no other issue to even consider. "For what will profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?" (Mark 8: 36).

Appreciation of the Price of our redemption through the Price of Calvary

Today we continue with our new series in the search to uncover the wonderful treasures of the Church contained in the great Deposit of Faith. Today we present the second part of the catechesis on apex of the Passion Calvary in which the torch was passed, so to speak, from the Old to the New Covenant when the veil of the Temple was rent asunder at the moment of Christ's death as explained in My Catholic Faith as we prepare for the Paschal Triduum tomorrow for Holy Thursday and Good Friday climaxing on Holy Saturday with the Easter Vigil. For part two in the 156th installment, see APPRECIATING THE PRECIOUS GIFT OF OUR FAITH

    installment 156: Calvary part two

The Church commemorates the passion and death of Jesus Christ on Good Friday. The solemn afternoon service consists of four parts, the veneration of the cross being the chief feature. All may receive Communion. After the Holy Thursday ceremonies the altar is stripped; lights are put out, and bells silenced.

After His death, Our Lord's body was taken down from the cross and laid in the grave which belonged to Joseph of Arimathea. Then His disciples rolled up a great stone to close the tomb. The chief priests and the Pharisees went in a body to Pontius Pilate, saying, "Sir, we have remembered how that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, 'After three days I will rise again.' Give orders, therefore, that the sepulchre be guarded until the third day, or else His disciples may come and steal Him away, and say to the people, 'He has risen from the dead' and the last imposture will be worse than the first.' Pilate said to them, 'You have a guard; go, guard it as well as you know how.' So they went and made the sepulchre secure, sealing the stone, and setting the guard" (Matthew 27: 63-66).

From the sufferings and death of Christ we learn God's love for man and the evil of sin, for which God, Who is all-just, demands such great satisfaction. It was not necessary for Jesus to suffer so intensely in order to redeem all men. As His merits are infinite, He could have wiped away the sins of a thousand worlds by shedding one drop of His blood. But He chose to suffer agonies because He loves us. "Greater love than this no one has, that one lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13). "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for His sheep...I am the good shepherd; and I know Mine and Mine know Me...and I lay down My life for My sheep" (John 10:11-15).

From the Passion of Christ we learn the evil that sin is, and the hatred that God bears it. We learn the necessity of satisfying for the malice and wickedness that is sin. Sin must be a horrible thing, to make Jesus Christ the God-man suffer so much. By Christ's obedience He atoned for Adam's disobedience, for He was obedient unto death. "He was wounded for our iniquities; He was bruised for our sins" (Isaiah 53:5).

The sufferings of Christ, in addition, serve as an example for us, to strengthen us under trials. Christ gave us an example of patience and strength. If we receive trials, we should accept them with resignation, in imitation of Our Lord, Who suffered so willingly for our sake. We can never have as much suffering as He did.

Churches should be built in the form of a cross because within the sacrifice of the cross is reenacted. Within them we remember easily the events that took place that day long ago, when Jesus Christ, Son of God, for love of us suffered and died on the Cross.

Church spires lead us to "seek those things that are above" (Colossians 3:1); they are surmounted by a cross, the symbol of our salvation; their bells call us to prayer, communion with God. The church interior is divided into three parts: the porch, where in former times those preparing for baptism and the penitents knelt; the nave, which is the central and main portion, for those attending the Holy Sacrifice; and the choir or sanctuary, where the choir and celebrant are.

Events that happened today in Church History

On this day 946 years ago in 1054, Pope Saint Leo IX, the 152nd successor of Peter, passed on to his Heavenly reward. His pontificate was remembered for the beginning of the Great Schism between East and West that still exists today though, through the efforts of Pope John Paul II, the two Churches are at least having dialogue, something Michael Cerularius refused in 1049 which caused Pope St. Leo to have to excommunicate the Eastern Patriarch. For other time capsule events that happened in Church history on this date, see MILLENNIUM MILESTONES AND MEMORIES

Historical Events in Church Annals for April 19:

    • 1012 A.D.
    • Death of Saint Alphege, also Elphege, a Benedictine monk who became the Archbishop of Canterbury, who was martyred for his faith by the Danes.

    • 1054 A.D.
    • Death of Pope Saint Leo IX, the 152nd successor of Peter. It was Leo who excommunicated Michael Cerularius who became the Eastern Patriarch and caused the great schism between East and West that exists to this day. Born in Lorraine, he was freely elected by the clergy and people of Rome on March 12, 1049. Before he entered Rome, while at the gates of Rome, he divested his sandals and walked bare-foot to the Lateran as a sign of humility. Though humble, he was staunch on defending the faith and that included taking on Cerularius.

    • 1529 A.D.
    • Eight years after the Diet of Worms by the Holy Roman Emperor a protestation was published against it and from that evolved the term "Protestant."

    • 1127 A.D.
    • Birth of Saint Felix of Valois, a French hermit who, along with Saint John of Malta would found the Order of the Most Holy Trinity, also known as Trinitarians whose specific mission was to ransom captives from the Moors.

If man changes for the better, society will follow

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but the words of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen have been known to launch a thousand images in one's mind, one of the ways this late luminary did so much to evangelize the faith. Because of the urgency of the times and because few there are today who possess the wisdom, simplicity and insight than the late Archbishop who touched millions, we are bringing you daily gems from his writings. The good bishop makes it so simple that we have dubbed this daily series: "SIMPLY SHEEN".

"If we would remake the world, we must begin by remaking the individual; then the institutions will be good enough, for they will resemble the good men who made them. And that is why institutions and plans must be supple and elastic enough to fit the free, aspiring spirit of the men who grow and enlarge their vision as they reach toward God."

    Daily WORD

From the Gospel of Wednesday, April 19th:

"He who dips his hand into the dish with Me, he will betray Me. The Son of Man indeed goes His way, as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It were better for that man if he had not been born."

    Matthew 26: 23-24
