Missa "Intret in conspectu"

Anticipation is a sign of solicitude and zeal, and therefore the Church, because she is full of love, anticipates the liturgical solemnities in her prayers. A typical example of this zeal is found In the lives of some of the early saints like St. Nicholas of Myra and the Patriarch St. Benedict, of whom we are told that in their prayer they even anticipated the liturgical night vigils. The vigil of Sts. Simon and Jude, Apostles, is mentioned in the Martyrology of St. Jerome.

      EPISTLE:   1 Corinthians 4: 4, 19
      Deo Gratias.
Lesson from the Epistle of blessed Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians. Brethren, we are made a spectacle to the world and to angels and men. We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ: we are weak, but you are strong: you are honorable, but we without honor. Even unto this hour weboth hunger and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no fixed abode, and we labor working with our own hands. We are reviled, and we bless: we are persecuted, and we suffer it: we are blasphemed, and we entreat: we are made as the refuse of this world, the offscouring of all, even untilnow. I write not these things to confound you, but I admonish you as my dearest children in Christ Jesus our Lord.
      Thanks be to God.

      GRADUAL:  Psalm 78: 102
Revenge, O Lord, the blood of Thy saints, which hath been shed. V. They have given the dead bodies of Thy servants, O Lord, to be meat for the fowls of the air: the flesh of Thy saints to the beasts of the earth.

      GOSPEL:    John 15: 1-7
      Dominus vobiscum.
      R. Et cum spiritu tuo.
      Sequentia sancti Evangelii secundum Joannem.
      R.Gloria tibi, Domine

Manéte in me: et Ego in vobis. Sicut palmes non potest ferre fructum a semetipso, nisi mánseritin vite: sic nec vos, nisi in me manséritis. Ego sum vitis, vos pálmites: qui manet in Me, et Ego in eo, hic fert fructum multum: quia sine me nihil potéstis fácere.
      Laus tibi Christe.

      The Lord be with you.
      R. And with thy spirit.
The continuation of the holy Gospel according to Luke.
      R. Glory to Thee, O Lord

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: "I am the true vine and My Fatheris the husbandman. Every branch in Me, that beareth not fruit, He will take away; and every one that beareth fruit, He will purge it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now you are clean by reason of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch can not bear fruitof itself, unless it abide in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for without Me you can do nothing. If any oneabide not in Me, he shall be cast forth as a branch, and shall wither, and they shall gather him up, and cast him into the fire, and he burneth. If you abide in Me, and My word abide in you, you shall ask whatever you wìll, and it shall be done to you."
      Praise be to Christ
