Today is the feast of the holy founder of the teaching order of the Christian Brothers St. John Baptist de la Salle with the Mass of Os justi. It is also the traditional observance of the holy virgin and martyr St. Dymphna on this Sixth Day of the Novena to the Holy Ghost when we focus on the Gift of Understanding within this time of the Octave of the Ascension. It is only appropriate that on this feast we bring you a moving article by a man with not only the reputation of being an outstanding Catholic author and educator, but also a man who truly lives what he preaches. That would be Timothy Duff as we bring you a piece which ran on these pages eight years ago. Let us read again Tim's wise words to better understand how we can tend to the Garden of the Soul. He actually first penned these words eighteen years ago. From what has happened since we can understand how he, along with his wife Eileen and the rest of his loving family, all sought to cultivate the virtues that they would need in caring for the extraordinary needs of their dear daughter Maria Duff who lost her struggle with Pompe Disease this past Sunday. Again, our heartfelt condolences to the entire Duff family who laid Maria to rest yesterday. For more on this, see yesterday's issue.

As we continue the spiritual bouquet for Mary, Queen of the May today we offer her Virgin most prudent is the whispy Mimosa which corresponds to the virtue of Generosity as we should always be Open to Generosity offered by God and show our appreciation by daily praying the Holy Rosary daily along with The Fatima Prayers and the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary. During her month we can also receive efficacious graces by praying the devotion known as The Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

And finally, we had a mail snafu that has been corrected and are so grateful for a few who sent checks. You know who you are and we are so appreciative. Unfortunately, it is the same people who have always given and very few new donors. Thus, in hopes the Holy Ghost will touch hearts, in hopes that you will, as today's flower suggests, be "Open to Generosity", we leave this letter on line a little while longer and ask our readers:

    Dear Readers,

In order to keep this in front of you that we truly are in need, we will keep this on until we can reach our necessary goal. We are so grateful for all the prayers which have helped Michael slowly recover from a terrible bout with fungal bronchitis. His strength and stamina are returning...slowly. To those who were able to send donations, we offer our humble thanks. This is a very difficult time for just about everyone. Taxes have been raised, Social Security has been downsized, and many things that were tax-deductible no longer are. Fortunately, for those who can donate to SANCTUS/DailyCatholic, it is still tax-deductible as a bonafide 501c(3) with the tax-exempt ID 58-1976694.

Michael's illness has left us in quite a bind. His insurance did not cover everything, and we are faced with two bills in particular that total $1550, which must be paid in full by May 15th. We can only ask for your help once again, and this time may those who have never donated, realize that if each person who reads the DailyCatholic, whether every day, or once a week, could send just one dollar ($1), we would be able to pay our just debts, and keep the DailyCatholic going for a very long time. What we do not understand is why so many fail to send just that dollar? If that is too much, then send whatever change you have lying around. Though the postage might be a bit much to send coins, we've found in the past if we save our change throughout the year, once it has built up, we slip it into a machine that sorts and counts it, and takes a bit off the top. You'd be surprised how much a person can acquire while saving change. Would you be adverse to tithing 10% of that?

We've passed into the glorious mysteries now. It would be so glorious if ALL who read the DailyCatholic would search the heart of their soul, and respond to our plea. It is devastating to us to have to ask when things get tough like this or unforeseen bills crop up that are beyond our control, and it hurts when it is the same few who are always there to help financially. Without your help, Michael's health will take much longer to recover completely, and knowing that bill is due in May does keep both of us awake at nights, as we pray together, trusting in God that He will touch your hearts and you will respond in kind with an infusion of funds.

It is difficult to do our part to Save All Necessary Catholic Traditions in the United States (SANCTUS), as well as the world, when there is so little coming in. Let us pray together the glorious mysteries of the Holy Rosary, and with each bead may you spare whatever you can for this traditional apostolate. It does not go to waste, nor has it ever been used in an unworthy manner for worldly things. All we ask is that everyone pitches in this time. With Hope in our hearts, we await your reply and look forward to knowing the names of new generous readers for whom we assure you we will pray daily as we have for those who have contributed in the past. We have devoted our lives to this traditional mission to save souls and, while we have great hope and faith in God's providence, we count on you temporally as our only hope.

In the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary,

    Michael and Cyndi

The Fatima Prayers
My God, I believe, I adore, I trust and I love Thee; and I beg pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not trust, and do not love Thee.
(repeat the above 3 times then bow your head in reciting the following:)

O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost, I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most Precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in tabernacles throughout the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference by which He is offended. By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in unison with the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners.

O Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee! My God, my God, I love Thee in the Most Blessed Sacrament!

O my Jesus, it is for love of Thee, in reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary and for the conversion of poor sinners.

Understanding is the Gift of the Holy Ghost highlighted today. Just as one would require the Gift of Knowledge as we showed yesterday, so one would want the Gift of Understanding to comprehend how the robber barons have infiltrated and usurped holy Mother Church; how the whore of Babylon tries to take the place of the Mystical Bride. It cannot last for through Understanding we know God will not allow it to continue and we realize that the Church, being the Mystical Bride of Christ, cannot err. Since those who pose as leaders of a church called 'Catholic' have erred and done so grievously and quite possibly intentionally, we know it is not Catholic. Through the Gift of Understanding we know why and we know what is truly Catholic and flee from anything that is not. Through the Gift of Understanding we can comprehend true teaching and alert others to beware of the wolves among the sheep and why the sheep have scattered for the hirelings care not for souls. This has been proven over the past fifty years and counting. The Gift of Understanding will enable us to know how to combat this apostasy in being faithful to Christ and His Church. Sixth Day of the Novena to the Holy Ghost

Timothy Duff shows that we all need to have a green thumb to cultivate our own spiritual gardens. God provides us all the tools necessary to tend to our soul. He has given us the Truths and Traditions of His Church and the Sacraments, all contained in the Sacred Deposit of Faith. If we are serious about salvation we will realize tending to souls - whether it is our own or others - is a full-time job of pulling out the weeds of vice and cultivating fruitful virtues through Son-light and showers of grace so that we can bear good fruit and be worthy of the Harvester gathering our soul up when the time comes for Him to separate the wheat from the chaff. Tim explains this metaphor in detail and how it correlates with Sacred Scripture in a piece first published in 1996. Time to get down and dirty with the business of cultivating souls as we bring you a masterful essay Tim first wrote eighteen years ago and we republish it here, titled Garden of the Soul

Each day we feature a title and/or salutation to Our Lady in celebration of Mary's month of May and today, on the feast of St. John Baptist de la Salle, we honor Mary with the title of Virgin most prudent for that is the theme of the epistle today as we continue during this time within the Octave of the Ascension and strive to say daily Our Lady's Holy Rosary and contemplate on the magnificent titles she is known by in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and The Fatima Prayers.

For the fifteenth day - the Ides of May - the flower offered to our Blessed Mother is the whispy MIMOSA with the corresponding Virtue being GENEROSITY. God loves a generous heart and one, who loves God and seeks to do His holy Will at all times, cannot help but be generous in all things, illustrated in the stamen of the Mimosa flower, fanning out in ray-like fashion to receive the graces God grants to those who are open to them and practice the cardinal virtues as well as the various virtues illustrated in this, Mary's special month for she is the Queen of the May. It is only natural that everyone would want to be generous to the Queen for that brings great favor from the King, Who is, of course, her divine Son Jesus Christ, to Whom we owe all allegiance, all fidelity, all our love and generosity. Let us pray the Devotion of The Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Fortitude is the Gift of the Holy Ghost highlighted today and it is through perseverance that we can realize our heavenly reward, but only in striving to do God's holy will in all things. Fortitude fortifies us not to worry about what will happen to our physical well being or material things and never to put merit into the approval of man but always in the approval of the Holy Trinity for that is all that really counts. All the rest don't amount to a hill of beans. Yet to sustain ourselves we need beans and other nourishment so that we can physically carry out whatever mission God appoints for each person's spiritual welfare. Fortitude enables us to accept our crosses and whatever sufferings God chooses for His children and not to question. That isn't easy. That is why the Gift of Fortitude is so vital. Fifth Day of the Novena to the Holy Ghost

In establishing just where the true Church exists in these times and by whose authority, Griff Ruby points out that one only needs to go through the process of deduction to realize there is only one answer and that is those who have upheld the faith and continue to administer the true sacraments. Ergo, in narrowing down the choices there is only one that qualifies as the teaching Church (Ecclesia docens) and that would be the Traditional Bishops and Priests who carry out the mission Christ gave to His Apostles. If those who still question this syllogism are intellectually honest then let them identify by name anyone with a superior claim on our conscience and obedience, or else let them admit they cannot refute or deny this. If, however, they are afraid to admit the truth because it would somehow greatly impugn either their own agenda or comfort zone, then what more could be said? There will always be those who deny the elephant in the room, so to speak, but will cry the loudest when being stomped on by the apostate mastedons. Don't say you were not warned. The only question remaining is why the Traditional Bishops and Priests have not taken the bull elephant by the horns since they are the only ones qualified to corral the beast once and for all by coming together to build up Christ's Church. That is the crux of Griff's seventh installment The "Traditional Movement" is the Church

Each day we feature a title and/or salutation to Our Lady in celebration of Mary's month of May and today we want to acknowledge her as the title above says - "most amiable" for after all who would be so patient as our loving Blessed Mother. Should we not repay her by doing as she asks and daily take up the beads to pray her Holy Rosary and contemplate on the magnificent titles she is known by in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and The Fatima Prayers.

For the fourteenth day of May, the flower offered to our Blessed Mother is the PASSION FLOWER with the corresponding Virtue being SACRIFICE. The greatest Sacrifice was the Passion of our Lord which was the greatest Sacrifice that resulted in the blossoming of souls through salvation for all who followed Christ's teachings/ On this day let us remember also the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass - same Sacrifice as that of the cross, for the victim is one and the same, namely, Christ our Lord, Who offered Himself, once only, a bloody Sacrifice on the altar of the cross. The bloody and unbloody victim are not two, but one Victim only, Whose Sacrifice is daily renewed in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass when the bread and wine are confected into the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. This continual Sacrifice is carried on in obedience to the command of our Lord: "Haec quotiescumque feceritis, in Mei memoriam facietis." - As often as ye do these things, ye shall do them in remembrance of Me." There is no bouquet more pleasing to His Blessed Mother than worthily assisting at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass where our souls should open wide like the Passion Flower to embrace our crosses sent so lovingly by the Almighty. Carrying our cross daily is what Sacrifice is all about so that grace will flower forth, so abundant in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Fourth Day of the Novena to the Holy Ghost

We proudly proclaim May 13 "Patrick Henry Omlor Day" in honoring this late modern day apostle of tradition who blazed the trail for so many of us when even cardinals and bishops did not have a clue. Patrick was a pioneer who saw the devastation and destruction that would result from turning "the most beautiful thing this side of Heaven" - the Canonized Apostolic Latin Mass of All Ages - into a vulgar vernacular service devoid of expiation and propitiation in order to appease Protestants while drawing the wrath of God and the blessed Apostles Peter and Paul. He warned us of the Robber Barons who were inside the gate. Many dismissed him as an alarmist, but history has proven he was a prophet who chose the narrow path, the lonely but only path to salvation. And many traditional Catholics can thank him for being the scout on that path. He had a deep devotion for the Blessed Sacrament and deeply loved Our Lady. What a perfect day to honor him than on the traditional observance of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament for he boldly held the compass for all to follow in safely steering through the storms to the safe shore of the Two Pillars. He, along with his wife Mary Victoria of 57 years, perpetuated the Faith in order to populate Heaven with a large Catholic family and left behind a legacy that will live forever in the annals of the traditional resistance against the Great Apostasy. He has fought the good fight, He has accomplished what God willed for him and for the Church. May he be welcomed with open arms into the Father's loving arms and celebrated in the Church Triumphant. Here, among the Church Militant he will be remembered always as a Trailblazer for Truth and Tradition

Saint Robert Bellarmine, the holy Cardinal and Doctor of the Church is the feast in which Our Lady chose to begin her historic and vital apparitions to three children at the Cova in Portugal. This Italian saint was born on the feast of the founder of the Franciscans, but trained as a Jesuit and came through with flying colors in God's eyes in upholding the ideals of the Society as its founders had established. He was an extremely sharp polemist who was not afraid to take on the most vitrolic Protestant theologians and, because this master apologist never wavered from Catholic truth, he always won out in perpetuating the Counter Reformation of Trent. His fame, humility and sense of the sensus Catholicus won back countless souls who had wavered during the Reformation. But his wisdom was not employed only on the sheep, but the shepherds as well - the chief shepherds - for he was Theologian and Spiritual Counselor to no less than five Popes. He was the noted Theologian to the Roman Pontiffs

Each day we feature a title and/or salutation to Our Lady in celebration of Mary's month of May and today, on this observance of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament and 96th Anniversary of the First Apparition at Fatima, we honor Our Lady with this title for it was at Fatima where she encouraged the children to pray daily her Holy Rosary while also we should contemplate on the magnificent titles she is known by in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the prayer imparted by the angel of Fatima with The Fatima Prayers.

For the thirteenth of May the flower was the LAUREL blossom with the corresponding Virtue being LOVE OF DUTY. What a perfect day for this for it was the love of duty to the Church and Christ's Vicar on earth that prompted St. Robert Bellarmine to become a Jesuit priest and then to utilize all his God-given talents for the greater honor and glory of God and His Holy Church. Likewise, Our Lady appeared near the Cova and a copse of trees where Laurel blossoms might be found and her message was to remind her children of our duty to pray and to obey her Divine Son. She instilled in the Fatima children and from them out to all mankind the importance of the Virtue of Love of Duty. We have a duty to spread and live all Our Lady imparted and which was officially approved as worthy of belief by Holy Mother Church as is the Devotion of The Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary

We can begin to work on this cure by praying her Holy Rosary each and every day - especially during her Month of May - and, if your state in life permits, all fifteen decades as a spiritual bouquet that will pay tremendous dividends both spiritually and temporally for those of good will. We also remind you to pray the Regina Coeli during Paschaltide.

Piety is the Gift of the Holy Ghost highlighted today and it gives one to pause and consider that if more people had piety there would be less wars, less hate, less animosity towards our fellow man and many, many more converts for man would, just through his piety, respect all that God has created. There'd be no need for ecological matters, politicians, even lawyers. Man would be in harmony with the will of God, but then who are we kidding. Few even respect the virtue of piety let alone ask it of the Sanctifier. That is one reason why our world is in such turmoil today because of the chaos in the world for the devil steers man away from humility and consequently away from God. That is why piety is so pertinent in loving God and respecting all He has deigned for the welfare of man's salvation as we see in the Third Day of the Novena to the Holy Ghost

In the Haydock Commentary provided by John Gregory for the Sunday after the Ascension, what is pointed out is that in all things Christ must be honored and defended even if it means being persecuted for believing in Him. Our Lord conveys these final words to His disciples, foretelling of a time when the Jews and unbelievers would greatly harass and even kill them. Every apostle except for St. John suffered martyrdom. When Jesus speaks of His followers "being put out of the synagogues" what do you think they'd have to say about Mr. Bergolio the unFrancis' schmoozing and giving credence to Caiaphas and all the faithless Jews since who persist in their error? What does he do just as his predecessors did but not only participate, thus publicly giving scandal through his persistent heresy, but proclaims that the Jews do not need to be converted. But then what's new? Proselytizing has gone the way of the dodo bird in the CONciLIAR church. In fact, these apostate 'popes' have done it so much that few recognize the apostasy in their midst. We need only read what our Lord says about it in today's Gospel. Yes, Lord, we remember that You did tell us this too would come. Perhaps we never realized how bad it would be with so many duped into actually believing these men posing as 'popes' could ever represent You. St. Paul says today "in all things God may be honored through Jesus Christ", not man. "They have not known the Father, nor Me"

Each day we feature a title and/or salutation to Our Lady in celebration of Mary's month of May and today, on Mother's Day we honor her as the first Mother - Mother of the Son of God and our heavenly Mother whom we can go to at any time and loves to hear from us if just to say hi, but she loves it when we pray her Holy Rosary and contemplate on the magnificent titles she is known by in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and The Fatima Prayers.

On the twelfth of May the flower offered to Our Lady is the tube-like HEATH-FLOWER with the corresponding Virtue being RECOLLECTION. The Heath-Flower comes from the Greek genus Epacris - meaning "upon the hill" where it grows. Many believe they sprouted on Calvary but this has not been proven in such climes. Yet, it would be appropriate for the Virtue of Recollection is centered on the Sacrifice of Christ upon Golgotha where His Blessed Mother stood faithfully to the end. So also are we able to stand with her through recollection of the Mysteries of the Cross. Appropriately, today's feast of Sts. Nereus and Companions focuses on this beginning with the Introit Ecce oculi - "Behold the eyes of the Lord are on them that fear Him, hoping in His mercy." As the Heath-flower hangs down like a religious' habit, so to speak, - such as a monk in a monastery - to remind one to put on the garments of God in humility and recollect, so also practicing the Virtue of Recollection prompts one to look within the soul and seek in all humility to think of spiritual rather than temporal things and one spiritual devotion that brings this home is The Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Fear of the Lord seems to be forgotten in so many today who go about their lives without fearing what the Lord will do because of their hardened hearts and devil-may-care attitude that they can do whatever they want. Oh, will they be surprised. Let us pray it will not be too late when they realize the devil doesn't care because he already has them in his grip, but God does and if they do not develop a Holy Fear they will when they stand before their Judge and hear their sentence. Talk about fear! That is why to be truly Catholic one must fear the Lord not for the punishments He may dole to those who do not follow His divine will, but for fear of offending Him. That is where love comes into play for if we truly love God, we will care how He feels and do everything we can to alleviate the wrath of the Almighty Whose cup by now is running over with the offenses against Him and His Natural Laws. Let us pray the Holy Ghost will soften the hardened hearts, warm the cold dones, and bring them to the realization of how having a Holy Fear is a true gift of the Holy Ghost as we pray the Second Day of the Novena to the Holy Ghost

Each day we feature a title and/or salutation to Our Lady in celebration of Mary's month of May and today we honor her as Queen of Apostles in recognizing the feast of Sts. Philip and James the Lesser, a feast established by Pope Pius XII transferred from May 1. In many traditional chapels where they still observe May 1 as the feast of these two Apostles, today is recognized as a ferial day. Whichever, all are encouraged to pray daily the Holy Rosary andcontemplate on the magnificent titles she is known by in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and The Fatima Prayers.

On the eleventh day of May and the flower offered to Our Lady is the beautiful PINK ROSE with the corresponding Virtue being PRAYER. How appropriate that outside of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the most efficacious prayer is Mary's Holy Rosary. The pink rose so magnificently expresses Our Lady's true femininity and divine motherhood. Her Rosary which she herself bestowed to St. Dominic is a spiritual bouquet of roses we can offer daily to Heaven, a spiritual bouquet built upon the ancient prayers of the Psalter - 150 decades for the 150 Psalms of David the Prophet. Devotion of The Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Today we begin the oldest novena of the Church, the Novena to the Holy Ghost and if ever we needed the Advocate's help it is now in 2012 when souls and hearts have hardened and grown lukewarm in their comfort zones, which surely can't be pleasing to the Sanctifier. In the face of this ennui to the spiritual crisis that has caused so much destruction to body and soul since the death of the last true Pope on October 9, 1958, we ask when will we wake up from this free fall and grab the parachute God offers? If only we would reach out and make the effort to save not only our own souls but those of our fellow man, we'd see a tremendous change in attitude and conversions. It is what Christ commands us to do and that command begins with the only ones who have the jurisdiction and authority to provide the true sacraments to souls - the traditional bishops who hold the key to returning sanity and sanctity. Let us pray the Holy Ghost will touch them and move them to set aside their petty differences and be the apostles we need them to be, that God needs them to be. Let us dedicate this nine day Novena to our true shepherds with the First Day of the Novena to the Holy Ghost

There are many devotions we can practice throughout the day, but one of the most efficacious of these, besides the holy Rosary, is the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary which Karl D. Keller is anxious to share with all. There are various versions - long ones and short ones - dedicated to Our Lady and it is the intention here to share the approved devotion with Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur from over a century ago with readers. Here Karl presents the third hour of the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary: Prime, which means "First" or "earliest hour of daylight." Like Lauds, Prime is much shorter than Matins and can be said at the appointed hour of 6 a.m. just after waking before daily Mass as the sun rises on the eastern horizon. As always, one may say it at the appointed time or all it once continually with the other hours in succession. Karl provides inspiration for Prime

Each day we feature a title and/or salutation to Our Lady in celebration of Mary's month of May and today we honor her as Virgin most merciful and we pray that she, along with her divine Son, will be merciful in the face of the antipathy of her children and the all-out revolution against God and His Laws. That is why it is so important for the faithful few to pray without ceasing, especially her Holy Rosary and contemplate on the magnificent titles she is known by in the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and The Fatima Prayers.

Today is the tenth day of May and SWEETNESS is the designated Virtue with the corresponding flower for Mary's bouquet being the delicate JASMINE. On this Feast of Saint Antoninius it is appropriate that the Jasmine, a fragrant white or yellow flower, employed to flavor tea or in perfume, is the flower of the day since St. Antoninius, as the Archbishop of Firenze, sought to extinguish the noxious fumes of the false Renaissance with the love of truth and encouraging his flock to study and do penance whereby the sweetness of the fragrance of truth emanated through in souls being saved. Truly pure Sweetness! To enhance this sweetness, there are few things sweeter than the Devotion of The Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary

In the Haydock Commentary for the Solemnity of the Ascension the Epistle and Gospel comprise the first words of the Acts of the Apostles and the last words of St. Mark all treated with the cogent comprehensive Haydock Catholic Commentary provided by John Gregory. The Lord has completed His work on earth. He has entrusted to His hand-chosen band of disciples, hardly saints at the time of His Ascension, His Spirit - the Holy Ghost. Within days they will be transformed and given the grace, gifts and fruits to carry out His command in St. Mark to preach the gospel to every creature and to assure them that if they believe and are baptized they will be saved. He leaves the dire warning so ignored today, that if they do not they will be condemned. Stronger words Christ did not speak. The sad fact is that so few have heeded His failsafe words. Failsafe Words

Forty days after rising from the dead, the Son of God returns to the Father as He said He would, but He has promised His Spirit would be with His disciples until the consummation of the world. That assurance we have in ten days when we celebrate the birthday of His Holy Church on Pentecost. Today we celebrate His glorious Ascension into Heaven where He remains until He returns as He promised. As we discussed last week, when that will be no one knows, but He has given us the signs that the time is near from His discourse in the Gospel of St. Matthew and indeed much of what He foretold has come to pass including the "abomination of desolation" which we can clearly see is the abominable Novus Ordo 'missae', which is also in lockstep with the New World Order (novus ordo seclorum) that will adopt satan as their leader once all are under his control. No wonder Jesus said aloud His curiosity of whether there will be any faith left when the Son of man returns. Food for thought as we celebrate this Holy Day of Obligation where, following the Gospel, the Paschal candle is extinguished and then removed. For those not able to get to Holy Mass today or not having the true Mass available to them, we invite you to pray at home and provide the missal for this day at Ascension of Our Lord and we encourage you to read Dr. Thomas A. Droleskey's inspiring piece for this Solemnity with Baptize All Men, Teach All Nations

Today is the Feast of the holy Doctor of the Church and Bishop St. Gregory Nazianzen, the second of four holy Doctors honored this month. St. Gregory was another from the 4th century who also faced the intense persecutions and calumnies of the Arian bishops. Son of two saints - Saint Gregory Nazianzen the Elder and Saint Nonna - and the sibling of two others - Saint Caesarius and Saint Gorgonna - this Doctor of the Church teamed with another Doctor of the Church the holy Saint Basil to uphold true teaching in combating the heresies of his time. The holy bishop St. Gregory Nazianzen is considered the Church's Theologian. This Cappadocian shepherd also nurtured a young protege who would turn out pretty well himself, one Saint Jerome. St. Gregory is often called the Administrator of Theology

Each day we feature a title and/or salutation to Our Lady in celebration of Mary's month of May and today, on the glorious Ascension of her divine Son into Heaven, we honor Mary with the title of House of God for she was the tabernacle for the most valuable person who ever lived and now He was returning to the Father at the true House of Gold and House of God, but Mary knew her work was not yet done and neither is ours. Let's help that labor by daily praying the Holy Rosary and the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and The Fatima Prayers.

For the ninth day of May the flower was the majestic MIGNONETTE with the corresponding Virtue being the PRACTICE OF HIDDEN VIRTUES. Appropriately it is the Feast Day of Saint Gregory Nazianzen, the holy Bishop and Doctor of the Church who was a vaunted defender of the Faith against the Arian heresy and practiced the Hidden Virtues in winning souls to the True Faith while traversing the rocky regions of Constantinople near the Mediterranean where the Mignonette blooms forth abundantly with its spikelike clusters of greenish or yellowish white flowers. The Mignonette emits an intense spicy fragrance, at first hidden from the nose's senses until closer to it, just as practicing Hidden Virtues may not be evident to all until they are exposed to the virtuous life of the person for "By their fruits you shall know them" (St. Matthew 7: 20). We encourage you to pray the Devotion of The Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary

As much as we hate to beg, we have no choice. We're back to at least doing weekly editions but donations have been way down and do not afford us the luxury of returning to daily publishing, which is ashame since it is called the DAILY Catholic. If you have benefited in anyway from what we have published, we humbly ask your help to keep this publication on line. We know that so many of our readers are unable to assist at a true traditional Latin Mass because of where they live and use the daily liturgy we publish to gain the efficacious graces possible through their prayers at home. We remain the only publication in the world to provide such and are grateful to God that we can provide such nourishment for souls. If you have not donated before, isn't it only right and proper to donate now? Whatever you can afford will be greatly appreciated. Just click the button below or send a check/money order to the address below. We are a bonafide non-profit 501c(3) religious association and all donations are tax-deductible. Whatever you would have contributed toward a bloated political campaigns or thrown away in the conciliar collection plates that only goes to covering up the sins of its presbyters and false primates while destroying all semblence of Catholicism, why not earmark it for SANCTUS/DailyCatholic? After all, shouldn't we all take St. Paul's strong counsel in 2 Thessalonians 2: 14 to heart and "stand firm, and hold the traditions which you have learned"?

or you can send your tax-deductible contribution (check, cash or M.0.) by mail to:
