As we wind down Paschaltide this year, it is made all the more glorious in May when we celebrate the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Living Tabernacle of her divine Son Jesus Christ during her month of May. There are several devotions we focus on this month, beginning with the Holy Rosary as well as the special Devotion to the Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In eight days we celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension and then begin the oldest novena of the Church, the Novena to the Holy Ghost in preparation for Pentecost and near the middle of the month the 96th Anniversary of the first apparition of Our Lady at the Cova in Fatima, Portugal. This is followed by the Novena in preparation for the Feast of Corpus Christi.

   Today the faithful are offered the choice of two Masses. You may observe either the feast of the holy apostles Sts. Philip and James with the Mass "Clamavérunt" or the feeastday of St. Joseph established by His Holiness Pope Pius XII with the Mass of "Adjutor". Both feasts remind us that it is time to shed light on the darkness. While the liturgy is full of joy and alleluias, there is little joy in the world today for society, thanks to the Great Apostasy, has foresaken God and the true Faith. Therefore it is left to Christ's few left among the remnant, those few He will find who still have the true Faith He instituted and who practice it according to the infallible, perennial Magisterium of His Church, not conceding even one iota of compromise to the counterfeit church of conciliarism or to the demonic government that has usurped man's rights before God. It is all because of our sins that Christ died and it is because of our sins that we are receiving just punishment for abandoning Him and His Commandments.

    It continues to be a time of Tenebrae as the darkness grows even darker. Thus it is left to us to encourage others to take up with us the heavenly weapon that, outside of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, is the most powerful tool we have to combat all the demonic activities in ecclesiastical and secular circles that threaten souls. The very fact so many are lukewarm and that the Lord will vomit them out of His mouth as documented in Apocalypse 3: 16, should prompt us all to pray all the more and call upon Heaven for mercy. We must understand that the innocent will suffer along with the guilty, but the innocent who truly follow all that Christ established and are faithful to the end, even if it leads to martyrdom as it did in early Rome, England and France and so many other spots throughout the world throughout history, will be rewarded with a heavenly crown as Christ has promised and as Saint Paul affirms in his epistles. Because of other circumstances that have cropped up in the last month we must leave the following on line and beg your assistance as we ask from our hearts to your hearts, dear readers:

       In order to keep this in front of you that we truly are in need, we will keep this on until we can reach our necessary goal. We are so grateful for all the prayers which have helped Michael slowly recover from a terrible bout with fungal bronchitis. His strength and stamina are returning...slowly. To those who were able to send donations, we offer our humble thanks. This is a very difficult time for just about everyone. Taxes have been raised, Social Security has been downsized, and many things that were tax-deductible no longer are. Fortunately, for those who can donate to SANCTUS/DailyCatholic, it is still tax-deductible as a bonafide 501c(3) with the tax-exempt ID 58-1976694.

        Michael's illness has left us in quite a bind. His insurance did not cover everything, and we are faced with two bills in particular that total $1550, which must be paid in full by May 15th. We can only ask for your help once again, and this time may those who have never donated, realize that if each person who reads the DailyCatholic, whether every day, or once a week, could send just one dollar ($1), we would be able to pay our just debts, and keep the DailyCatholic going for a very long time. What we do not understand is why so many fail to send just that dollar? If that is too much, then send whatever change you have lying around. Though the postage might be a bit much to send coins, we've found in the past if we save our change throughout the year, once it has built up, we slip it into a machine that sorts and counts it, and takes a bit off the top. You'd be surprised how much a person can acquire while saving change. Would you be adverse to tithing 10% of that?

        We've passed into the glorious mysteries now. It would be so glorious if ALL who read the DailyCatholic would search the heart of their soul, and respond to our plea. It is devastating to us to have to ask when things get tough like this or unforeseen bills crop up that are beyond our control, and it hurts when it is the same few who are always there to help financially. Without your help, Michael's health will take much longer to recover completely, and knowing that bill is due in May does keep both of us awake at nights, as we pray together, trusting in God that He will touch your hearts and you will respond in kind with an infusion of funds.

        It is difficult to do our part to Save All Necessary Catholic Traditions in the United States (SANCTUS), as well as the world, when there is so little coming in. Let us pray together the glorious mysteries of the Holy Rosary, and with each bead may you spare whatever you can for this traditional apostolate. It does not go to waste, nor has it ever been used in an unworthy manner for worldly things. All we ask is that everyone pitches in this time. With Hope in our hearts, we await your reply and look forward to knowing the names of new generous readers for whom we assure you we will pray daily as we have for those who have contributed in the past. We have devoted our lives to this traditional mission to save souls and, while we have great hope and faith in God's providence, we count on you temporally as our only hope.

   While the title above honors the holy Apostles Sts. Philip and James, it is also appropriate in leading off Mary's Month of May by honoring her chaste earthly spouse for Saint Joseph is the Universal Patron of the Church. He is symbolized by the LILY and the designated virtue in offering Our Lady a beautiful spiritual bouquet is PURITY. No flower is more significant in identifying the Foster Father of Jesus and chaste Protector of Mary than the holy Joseph whose feast is always the symbol of purity, most always depicted by the pure Lily. Thus, as we noted, in some traditional chapels this feast is celebrated on the Third Wednesday after Easter. Speaking of that, those observing the liturgical calendar approved by Pope Pius XII observe that Solemnity on May 1 with the very same Propers of the Mass and celebrate the feast of the holy Apostles Sts. Philip and James on May 11. While those who still observe the liturgy as it was at the time of Pope St. Pius X celebrate the latter feast today. We offer both Propers to our readers as well as the beautiful devotion below, prayed throughout May.

    The beloved disciple Saint John the Evangelist was granted the blessing of the vision of a woman crowned with twelve stars, clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet. According to expert commentators, most specifically the Haydock Commentary in the Douay-Rheims version, this woman is the Blessed Virgin Mary, with her virtues and her privileges, especially that of her divine maternity.Thus originated the Little Crown of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which Saint John Calasanctius, Saint John Berchmans and many other saints made it a practice to recite frequently, especially during Mary's Month of May. In order to make this prayer more attractive, Saint Louis Marie de Montfort (whose feast we just observed last Sunday) added to each Hail Mary one of the praises of the Blessed Virgin, with the invocation: "Rejoice, O Virgin Mary; rejoice a thousand times." It is this prayer which St. Louis gave to his religious families (The Montfort Fathers and the Daughters of Wisdom) as their morning prayer. He also recommends it to all those who embrace the devotion of the holy and loving slavery of Jesus through Mary. We combine with this beautiful prayer at the very beginning the designated flower and virtue for the day throughout Mary's month for she is the Queen of the May. Griff Ruby presents part five of his series and points out that the title of this installment is very easy to answer, and yet it seems to be the biggest hurdle for both sedevacantists and non-sedevacantists to arrive at in a meeting of the minds to where cohesive arguments can be submitted without emotional outbursts or condemnations. After all the sedevacantist position is a theological opinion. Yes, an "opinion" which carries no doctrinal weight, yet explains the only alternative as to why the doctrines have been altered; something no true Catholic pope or any Catholic could ever dare do. You see, dogmas and doctrines are not open to discussion like theological opinions are. No, the former are set in stone and handed down through Divine Revelation and Tradition. What many sedevacantists fail to do is convey convincing arguments that prove the Church is very much alive today, and we're not talking about the CONciLIAR church formed at Vatican Two, but rather the true Church with true, valid, and authorized priests to teach, lead, and sanctify souls through confecting all sacraments including the holy Sacrament of the Altar. It's not a matter of numbers, but provenance. If only more had the grace to connect the dots, the numbers would take care of themselves because more would come to the realization of WHERE the Church truly exists and flee the false church. Griff explains in part five Where IS the Church?


John Gregory provides the commentary for the Fourth Sunday after Easter from Father George Leo Haydock found in many Douay-Rheims version of the New Testament. How ironic when false prophets and antipopes are trying to justify the Jews in their sin, when Bishop Bernard Fellay ignores this after years of resisting in order to now compromise with the devil - that we have this wonderful Gospel of St. John the Evangelist on the truth. Our Lord foretold many times that the Jews would be a stubborn lot and indeed that has proven true for still today they brag about rejecting Him and expect faithful Catholics to tow their line rather than God's. More proof they answer to the prince of the world and not to the Son of God Who alone provides eternal happiness, re-emphasized so many times, especially in today's Gospel where Jesus promises He will always be with His children for He will not leave His apostles shorthanded. No, as promised, He will send His Spirit, the Holy Ghost which proves the Filioque of the Creed as we see in today's commentary for the Fourth Sunday after Easter in Promise of the Paraclete

Father Benedict Hughes, CMRI, Rector of St. Joseph's Minor Seminary in Rathdrum, Idaho at the City of Mary presents a thirteen-minute sermon recorded two years ago and made available through Traditional Catholic Sermons for the Fourth Sunday after Easter, also known as "Cantáte Sunday" after the Introit "Cantáte Domino", which means "Sing to the Lord" and which Father addresses how we are now preparing for the Advocate as Christ promises that through thick and thin, He will be with us always for He will send His Spirit. Father provides encouragement, especially to parents who often consider their greatest cross is their children who have strayed from the true Faith. He reminds them that God judges the effort, not the results and equates the courageous efforts of missionaries who strove to convert so many and never saw the fruits of their efforts, but that they gave it their all. He urges all to not give up hope and to realize, as Jesus affirms, that there will always be The Joys and Sufferings of Life. Father also provides a sermon on a devout servant of Mary and how we can also be devoted slaves of Our Lady with St. Louis de Montfort and True Devotion

Bishop Daniel Dolan offers a potpourri of saints for this day in relating the lives and virtues of four saints, beginning with St. Paul of the Cross, the persevering servant of the Lord who bore his sufferings with great joy and was rewarded as was the holy martyr St. Vitalis who has a commemoration this day as well as remembering St. Peter Chanel, and of course the holy slave of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Louis Marie de Montfort who fought Jansenism and founded the Company of Mary as well as the Sisters of Wisdom in spreading the holy Faith and providing a foundation for future generations of faithful Catholics. His Excellency provides this tableau of holy men whom we celebrate for Saints honored on April 28
