Prayers at the Foot of the Altar
With the Mass Server (R.) kneeling to the priest's right, the priest (V.) bowing down at the foot of the altar, makes the Sign of the Cross † - the first of 52 times during the True Mass (to represent each week of the year).
Note: Each step in the Mass has significance which are in green. The priest going to the foot of the altar represents Christ going to Mount Olivet and commencing the Holy Mass represents Christ beginning to pray in the Garden.
