Ten Beats Seven Every Time
Part One of Virtue & Vice
In these times when the devil is trying to convince the confused that evil is good and good is bad, we need only to revert back to the surefire measure of the rock-solid reasons why such insanity will go up in smoke: because God gave man the Ten Commandments and satan has ten of nothing. To think otherwise is a dangerous gamble that is a lose-lose situation as the graphic to the left below shows. Whatever way one calculates it, God's House wins every time as the graphic above to the right proves. The problem is, man, in his fallen human nature, keeps betting against the House; not a good idea because those who have done so always lose not only their shirt, but soul as well.
"Just as 10 divided by 7 gives us more than we started with, if we place 7 above 10 we end up with 7/10 of where we started. In other words, subordinating The Ten Commandments to any list of seven social virtues will result in a reduction in the the value of what we are doing. Rather than a near 50% increase in overall good, we will end up with only 70% of the good we started out with. The reason for this is plain and simple. No good endeavored without God can ever nearly reach its full potential. In fact, a truncated good of this kind becomes a breeding ground for the virus, venom, and vermin of evil at some point. Food is a good that nourishes us, but left outside it will spoil and lead to germs and infection, as well as attracting unwanted pests. The devil relishes this kind of half-baked morality and goodness because he can use it as a weapon of mass moral destruction. Either we aim for God and salvation or we do not. Anything less will be both an insult to Divine Justice and Goodness and a tool for evil. Christ told us what He thinks about half-baked morality and lukewarm devotion. Reread Apocalypse 3: 15-16 if you don't believe me."
One of the rampant viruses running through the body of Catholicism these days is the warped and demonic adoration of so-called social justice issues over primary issues of God's Will and Word. The fingerprints of the devil are so evident in this one that you do not need CSI just E-y-e-s and a B-r-a-i-n to find out who the killer of truth is!
It Starts with The Ten
We should not be surprised that a society that is constantly trying to shove The Ten Commandments into the sewer would ignore the simple and plain fact that everything begins with these treasured pearls of morality and ethics. Simply put, we begin with love and obedience toward our God, follow up with respect for family and life, and end with respect for what belongs to others and for the value of generosity and service. Inherent in all of this is obviously a deep respect, love and humility with regard to moral priorities.
What good does feeding the poor have if I murder the unborn or engage in sodomite relationships? As I have often stated, you cannot serve good wine from a dirty bottle. What was that Christ said about pouring new wine in old wineskins?
The Ten Commandments are simply the starting point of any discussion that even pretends to head toward God or any good that He has created. Anyone who ignores this basic fact must ignore God as many of these radical liberals and secularists do going in.
The absurdity of the statement "He killed a child yesterday and beats his parents and spit at people going out of church, but oh what generosity toward the homeless and sick" is self-evident.
Then Come The Sevens
When we talk of The Seven Corporal Works of Mercy and The Seven Spiritual Works of Mercy, we assume that The Ten Commandments have been accepted, absorbed, and followed going in. In the next three parts of this series on Virtue and Vice, I will review The Seven Corporal Works of Mercy, The Seven Spiritual Works of Mercy, and The Seven Deadly Sins in the context of true Catholicism as opposed to the trash that is being sent down the river these days. For now, suffice it to say that without first obeying and respecting The Ten Commandments, one's discussion of any list of seven anything becomes a moral joke and a sure crime scene where the devil is the perpetrator and salvation is the murder victim!
A Little Math Reveals Truth
If we divide 10 by 7 we get roughly an increase of nearly 50% over our starting point. What this should tell us here is that honoring and respecting The Ten Commandments enhances and augments honoring and following The Seven Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. Performing such works in the light of The Ten Commandments only transforms and transcends these works to the heights to which they are capable of reaching. Likewise, subordinating The Seven Deadly Sins below The Ten Commandments enhances our appreciation and realization of their evil by at least 50%! To remove The Ten Commandments from any discussion of social justice, then, is to surrender so-called moral ethics to the blurred and diluted moral code that this society embraces and promotes. Simply put, 10 divided by 7 turns one into one and then some, turns one act of mercy into mercy and then some, and turns one deadly sin into evil and then some. It is this kind of revelation and enlightenment that this society shuns as it struggles to swirl in its pretend morality and counterfeit ethics.
Just as 10 divided by 7 gives us more than we started with, if we place 7 above 10 we end up with 7/10 of where we started. In other words, subordinating The Ten Commandments to any list of seven social virtues will result in a reduction in the the value of what we are doing. The Lie and Lure of Social Justice
God created goodness from which should flow social justice, but the twisted social justice of radical liberals within the New Order church and elsewhere turns this truth on its head. These fools pretend that social justice comes first and all goodness flows from that. Notice that God conveniently disappears from the resulting discussion! This is obviously the lie of social justice for it is folly to pretend that such justice can truly exist without Divine Justice and Wisdom.
The lure of social justice, then, is its fanciful and convenient ability to deliver badges of nobility and goodness based on cleverly visible and public works of good. It is so nice to be seen as good because one gives to the poor, feeds the hungry, and visits the sick. One can pretend to be selfless even as praise comes in. The twisted social justice of this society asks us why we need a God as supervisor when we can be self-employed in the business of doing good. How nice to be seen as good without the hassle of answering to an all-knowing Boss!
The Devil's Fingerprints
This is so much like the devil. He knows that direct frontal evil will not be accepted or excused, but likewise moral guerilla warfare provides a ripe opportunity to snatch souls even as they go around notching up "goodie points" with charitable donations and swipes at sensitivity toward the less fortunate. With the armor of evil hidden in so-called goodness, the devil can lead countless souls to hell and have them singing on the way!
Anyone doubting this just look at these idiots who argue that abortion and euthanasia are social and even moral goods or that voting against pro-abortion candidates who feed the poor or seek to improve health care is wrong. The devil is tricking many into believing that fetuses and sick people are simply collateral damage on the way to social good. Man, a fifth-grader could do this MCSI or Moral Crime Scene Investigation.
Remember that the devil lured Adam and Eve with a sweet looking apple. Likewise, he now lures each of us with the trash that The Good Samaritan is the single and perfect model for morality and salvation. This example has been taken out of context by a very clever and evil devil who knows how to lure simple minds toward perdition. Yes, The Good Samaritan is a prime example of loving others and serving as Christ did, but his act of mercy and charity alone would not excuse any sins he brought in and arrogantly took out of this single, kind act. Saving a guy on the road does not and never will excuse ignoring a loving God or stamping out an innocent life. Case closed!
Editor's Note: Heaven is once again under attack by those who would seek to ignore and overthrow God's majesty and authority. Gabriel Garnica, educator and attorney, submits regular insights and commentaries to remind and help guide readers toward a deeper and more assertive faith. Touching on topics and issues ranging from personal faith, doctrine, education, scripture, the media, family life, morality, and values, Gabriel's notes are music to traditional ears but unpleasant tones to those who have bought into the misguided notions so prevalent and spreading in today's Catholic world.
