The Business of Salvation

In order to steer the waters of sound business in both the secular and spiritual life we must have our tanks fueled with grace so we will not be caught on empty and left to drift ever perilously closer to the powerful undercurrent of the devil.

"We see, then, that the devil knows that he will be far more successful harvesting souls for perdition by pretending to be our ally and friend than by even allowing to ever see him as an adversary or enemy. The New Order's disdain for talk of hell, absolute morality, and tradition combined with the drugging distortion of media and political forces are clearing the path for the devil to play his fraud well. Likewise, God Almighty and absolute truth and morality are increasingly depicted as our adversaries and enemies as shown by media, political, judicial, and social attacks! In other words, man today has it totally twisted and that's not good business for spiritual success! "

Recently I came across some literature describing how many problems in the corporate world stem from missclassifying and mishandling four types of business relationships. As I read this literature it occurred to me that the problem of saving one's soul and that of others likewise stems from such misclassification and mishandling of spiritual relationships.

The Four Types of Business Relationships

According to this business literature, there are four types of relationships found in the business world, and knowing what they are and how they interact is crucial to success in the corporate arena. These four types of relationships are grouped as follows:

  • Unconditional Antagonism = ENEMY
  • Conditional Antagonism = ADVERSARY
  • Conditional Trust = ALLY
  • Unconditional Trust = FRIEND

The two unconditional extremes never change and are independent of whatever circumstances may exist. They are constant and are therefore inconsistent with any apparent change. True, loyal unconditional friends will always remain so despite any shifts in climate and true, real enemies will always be enemies despite what they may claim otherwise. The two inner categories, however, are very subject to change and shifts in climate. Today's adversary may be next week's ally and vice-versa. These two inner types of relationships shift depending on circumstances. Adversaries and allies merely act out of immediate need, convenience, practicality, and personal agenda. They favor or disfavor you based on what works for them at a given time.

It may be said that clear enemies and friends are the most honest in that they make no pretense about how they stand with you. They care little what others think or how others judge their position since they openly reflect that position for all to see. In an ironic way, enemies and friends are easier to deal with because one knows what to expect from them. That is why God says in the Book of the Apocalypse, "I know thy works: that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot: But because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will begin to vomit thee out of My mouth. Because thou sayest: I am rich, and made wealthy, and I have need of nothing: and thou knowest not, that thou art wretched, miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked" (Apocalypse 3: 15-17). Adversaries and allies, as we know from biblical history and world history, shift from one day to the next. They can provide greater uncertainty, confusion, and distortion since their motives and conduct vary from time to time. They are among the vast majority - the lukewarm striving to 'just get by.'

Spiritual Application

As we view the above business relationships from a spiritual perspective, we find seven key points crucial to salvation in this lost world.

  • The devil will always be our enemy no matter what
  • God Almighty will always be our friend no matter what
  • God's Word and Christ's example expose the devil's true nature as our enemy
  • The devil's cunning leads him to falsely depict himself increasingly toward the right above
  • The New Order assists the devil in this evil deception and fraud
  • Absolute Truth and Tradition anchor us toward the right above and away from the left above
  • Salvation is to the right and perdition is to the left….without a doubt!

Any honest and serious reading of Scripture and history should reveal to us that the devil is the prince of evil, deception, distortion, and salvation. Since he rejected God's Absolute Authority and God is all good, all perfection, and all truth, then common sense dictates that the devil is and always will be precisely the opposite of those good things.

Therefore, if God is all perfect and as such always good, then the devil must be all evil and as such always bad. Since the ultimate good available to us is eternal salvation, then the ultimate evil threatening us must be eternal perdition. The devil's true nature is revealed to us through Scripture, history, natural law, and absolute truth all inherent in God's Word and Will. The devil exposed at the Garden of Eden as our true and eternal enemy is then doubly exposed at Calvary as both that enemy of salvation and its vulnerable foe defeated by the Blood of the Lamb.

Simply put, absolute truth and goodness are found to the right and absolute deception and evil are found to the left. Tradition anchors us to the right and novation in all its insidious forms draws us toward the left. While God's pure goodness and the devil's pure evil are constant and easily identified by eyes not deluded or drunk with the wine of this lost society, the devil knows that pure evil finds its most useful tool in deception and distortion. Such confusion is created as the devil increasingly depicts himself and his agenda as relative, conditional, subjective, and debatable in the two inner categories. The New Order is the devil's loyal disciple in this insidious evil, as its tentacles of politics, liberalism, secularism, atheism, feminism, sodomy, ecumenism, modernity, proportionalism, relativism, and the media paint what is pure evil first as subjective evil and then as subjective good and, left unchecked, as good itself. Notice how abortion and sodomy were once pure evil, became part evil, part good, and are currently being pushed as pure good! Notice how a married priesthood, sodomite priesthood, and female priesthood were once absurd, then discussed, then debated, and now promoted by despicable forces kissing Christ on the cheek once again!

We see, then, that the devil knows that he will be far more successful harvesting souls for perdition by pretending to be our ally and friend than by even allowing to ever see him as an adversary or enemy.

Four Key Mistakes To Be Avoided

The business literature identifies four key mistakes that can lead to failure in the corporate world. Again, these four errors have clear spiritual counterparts and applications. These four errors are:

  • Assuming friendships where none exist
  • Misclassifying adversaries as enemies
  • Failing to convert adversaries into allies
  • Trying to convert enemies

Clearly, it is deadly to assume that the devil and his allies can ever or will ever be our friends despite whatever trash comes from their mouths. Likewise, it is foolish to waste one's time trying to convert true enemies since they will either reject our efforts or, worse still, only infect our efforts with evil. Much of the destruction of our faith has come about by either pathetic efforts to forge friendships with eternal enemies or convert enemies with no intention of converting. These wasted efforts merely lead to a dilution and distortion of our faith as we desperately reach out to grab popularity instead of reaching out to save. The two middle errors, however, occur when we forget Christ's words upon His Ascension. We are called to save souls and convert those who seek salvation and truth. The missionaries did not reject the people before them as lost causes and enemies but rather saw them as adversaries who could be converted if the conditions were right. It is the utter failure and fraud of modernism, secularism, liberalism, and ecumenism that these forces seek to build bridges under the wrong conditions and the wrong terms.

An enemy is anyone who will not subject himself to the Word of God and the example of Christ, an adversary is anyone who might, and an ally is anyone who will. Our holy martyrs and missionaries showed by their sweat and blood that adversaries can be converted to allies and eventually become friends, true friends. Our present clerical and political frauds of the New Order, however, show daily that they cannot try to convert true enemies of God without becoming such an enemy themselves!

Conclusion

At first glance an analysis of business relationships may appear to have little relevance to spiritual relationships and salvation, but a deeper interpretation and application will prove otherwise. It is often said that "you are either with me or you are against me" and such an expression could clearly come from Christ's lips. Truth reveals to us that the devil will always seek our perdition and God Almighty will always seek our salvation. Modern distortions and The New Order merely seek to flood that truth with relativism, proportionalism, and every manner of deception and fraud conceivable.

We must stand firm in Who is our eternal friend and who is our eternal enemy while seeking to help as many others to see that truth as well. Since our time and energy is limited, we must not waste those resources trying to cozy up to people who only seek to compromise our true and eternal friendship with our God and the message of His Only Son Christ. The business of eternal salvation demands this kind of focus and nothing less, or one will sputter and die without the necessary fuel to reach Heaven.
