The Tip of the Viceberg
Out of the Mouths of Babes and Bishops
The denigrating dunce cap rightly replicates the miter of today's spineless 'bishops' who are not men of God, but, as Christ warned, wolves in sheep's clothing who have ravaged the flocks. Mere hirelings. They are responsible for the corruption of youth and we pray the youth will recognize this menace and remain innocent by saying no to these barbarians and wizards of wile and guile. Let them sit in the corner until they get it right!
"When children act as adults and adults treat children as adults, those children are corrupted by the stain of adult prejudices, motives, agendas, and weaknesses. In short, this society creates a toxic adulthood laced with sin, temptation, defiance, arrogance, and confusion. While not all adults fall to this poison, most do, and therefore they are not good models for children to follow in all respects. To the extent that children in this society are exposed to these toxic adult influences, they slowly become mini-adults poisoned by adult errors rather than innocent children demonstrating true childlike virtues."
Two events happen this week which should signal a harbinger of the times, the tip of the viceberg of how so many children are being corrupted today. This week the American Bishops Conference are meeting for the bi-annual summit in Washington D.C. and, more than likely, it will be more of the same old Pharisees and Chief-Priests in lockstep with political correctness in veering further and further from Catholic Truth. Meanwhile in two days, children everywhere will be bombarded with images of the latest movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire opening Friday in theaters across the country. I predict that it will once again pollute minds with the hype of new-age wizardry that will sell billions in merchandise to greedy kids and clueless parents who will shell out for these worthless toys and items to please their children while greatly displeasing God. There will be more articles exposing the Harry Potter phenomena and an equal amount of articles defending this as merely harmless fantasy.
I bring this up because recently I came across a piece about how a group of public school 4th graders in Texas who attend CCD classes there, in effect, caused a class outing to see the preceding installment of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban to be cancelled by refusing to go on the trip on the grounds that the movie was against their faith. Despite the probability that many things these children are taught in CCD classes are counter to their true faith as well, one has to be impressed by their courage, conviction, and willingness to stand up for their beliefs. Perhaps many bishops, instead of calling for collegiality, should consult with these children so that the babes could mentor the bishops on courage, conviction, and a willingness to stand up for the faith!
Unless We Become Like Little Children
We know Christ's assertion that one must become like a child to enter Heaven, but few really understand what He meant by those words. First of all, children tend to be honest unless taught to lie. Out of their sheer innocence or perhaps their inability to "connect the dots" between what they say and its impact, children will often merely say what is truly on their mind, admit when they are confused or do not know, or simply speak the truth. What this society calls "sophistication" really means the ability to analyze situations and words to determine what is best said, not said, and distorted for maximum benefit, gain, or convenience. Children generally do not have this kind of sophistication, so the truth tends to blurt out of them with more frequency than is the case for adults.
Secondly, children tend to follow instructions unless allowed to become defiant. Research shows that most children will tend to obey authorities and their elders if raised properly, but many can become defiant or disobedient if raised in an environment that allows or even promotes such behavior. How often do we see disobedience branded as "independence" and obedience branded as "wimpy" in this distorted society?
Lastly, children tend to be loyal to their beliefs if such beliefs and such loyalty are properly and consistently instilled. Rarely does one see a child simply turn his back on a favorite pet or inexplicably reject a friend or relative. Notice how children often defend their friends or favorite activities despite attacks on these. Now there are those who will argue that many kids lie to conceal their actions, defy adults, and change views on a whim, but are these children acting as children or as children modeling adults? I believe that this society is constantly pushing children to act as adults do and encouraging adults to treat children as miniature adults.
When children act as adults and adults treat children as adults, those children are corrupted by the stain of adult prejudices, motives, agendas, and weaknesses. In short, this society creates a toxic adulthood laced with sin, temptation, defiance, arrogance, and confusion. While not all adults fall to this poison, most do, and therefore they are not good models for children to follow in all respects. To the extent that children in this society are exposed to these toxic adult influences, they slowly become mini-adults poisoned by adult errors rather than innocent children demonstrating true childlike virtues.
The Intensification of Traits
One rarely hears of a "cowardly", "cunning", "treacherous", "arrogant" child. This is because such children will tend to be viewed as "fearful", "tricky", and "stuck up". Why the distinction in how children and adults are judged? The reason may well be that while a child and an adult may act similarly in similar situations, we tend to ascribe greater innocence to the child and greater premeditation and responsibility to the adult. A child who hits me while playing with a ball was "goofing off" but an adult who does that would be seen as "careless" or "negligent". For this reason young children are generally not held legally responsible for acts for which adults would be punished.
Coupled with the above situation, we note that children are generally not held as accountable for their actions and beliefs as adults are. A child who makes a racially offensive comment or insults someone is seen as foolish, ignorant, or misguided (by whom?....adults of course). An adult who makes such comments would be criticized, fired, or publicly denounced. In short, since adults have greater accountability for their actions and beliefs than children do, and since they often have more to "lose" from a societal perspective, it requires much more courage and conviction for an adult to stand up for his or her beliefs and actions than would be the case for a child!
The Mental Disconnect
Given all of the above, it is clear that following Christ in a world that mocks, ignores, and rejects Him requires that we mentally disconnect ourselves from the baggage of adult bias, fears, agendas, and perceived threats. We must embrace childlike innocence and sincerity while rejecting much of what this society perceives as "acceptable adult behavior". Sadly, this society has come to define such behavior in terms of conforming and becoming, in the words of a profound writer, "sheeple" who follow shepherds blindly. If phobias are adult spins on childlike fears and adults are children who have forgotten to be truly happy and true to themselves, then the key to Heaven may well be a toy rather than anything adults tend to see as necessary for happiness. The only code we must conform to is the one given to us by our Heavenly Father and demonstrated by Christ our Savior. With Our Heavenly Mother as our guide and advocate and a firm grasp on the only true Shepherd we will ever need, our "childlike" behavior will take us right to salvation!
The sad reality of our society and the fašade being sold as the Catholic Church is that our so-called shepherds are acting as immature children mindlessly playing with fire while our children are increasingly being stained with adult distortions and errors. You'll see the manifestation of this by the end of the week with reports that the bishops are "in solidarity" with more novelties that, in fact, go against true Catholic teaching. Case in point, putting so much emphasis on the abolishing the death penalty while doing so little in curbing those who promote the killing of children in the womb. Talk about contradiction and ineffectiveness! Any 4th grader could easily see this, and yet these 'adults' in ecclesiastical robes - these "Dumbledors of Dumbing-Downdom" continue on their merry way by continuing the charade as more and more sheeple are duped by these charlatans, who continue to corrupt our children and parents - even far worse than any Harry Potter episode - especially with the inane CCD tripe of the New Order church.
In this environment where down is up and up is down it is proper, then, that children standing up against occult errors show what also is of the occult - the New Order church and its anathemas. Children are not educated in the nuances of knowing the latter, but by their innocence we can see they are more sincere in demonstrating how we may courageously confront our foes and confirm our faith when faced with heresy and sin. Conversely, it should not be surprising that those who are supposed to be our shepherds have lost their staff, their flock, and their true mission. Truly wolves, dangerous, deadly vermin in sheep's clothing. Such is the state of this world and society that everything is upside down
While many so-called shepherds tell their flock that heresy like Harry Potter is acceptable and harmless, a group of children reminds us just how much such trash runs counter to our faith. While many of these supposed guides speak approvingly or amusingly of such trash from their pulpits, it is refreshing to see children speaking truthfully from the pulpit of their classroom and innocent minds. May God Almighty help us to become as spiritual children fully trusting His Word and guidance and not as the twisted and distorted adults of this society. Yes, out of the mouths of babes often comes The Word of God as seen at Fatima, but we long for the day when this Word will truly come out of the mouths of bishops as well. Perhaps the time has come for our children to bear witness to God's true Word and for our bishops to take a "time out" and rethink their path. No recess or lunch for them until they amend their ways.
Editor's Note: Heaven is once again under attack by those who would seek to ignore and overthrow God's majesty and authority. Gabriel Garnica, educator and attorney, submits regular insights and commentaries to remind and help guide readers toward a deeper and more assertive faith. Touching on topics and issues ranging from personal faith, doctrine, education, scripture, the media, family life, morality, and values, Gabriel's notes are music to traditional ears but unpleasant tones to those who have bought into the misguided notions so prevalent and spreading in today's Catholic world.
