Mary as The Undoer of Knots
Before Lucifer ever said "I will not serve", before the Lord God's "do not eat of the apple" or His "Thou shalt not" Decalogue to Moses, He had prepared immaculately for all time His precious Undoer of knots, so that through the merits of the Son, His obedient and co-Redemptrix Mother - Mediatrix of all graces - could help untangle the knotted souls and hearts of those who knew not.

"Observers have opined that the ribbon represents our lives and the knots represent the difficulties, sinful inclinations, addictions, interpersonal issues, and general struggles of our lives. Clearly, the painting tells us that Mary can come to our aid in these struggles and circumstances if we seek her help. What can seem like unsolvable to us is simple handiwork to The Mother of God, a loving Mother helping her children as loving mothers everywhere are supposed to do every day. If we ask Her to help us in humility, trust, and faith as our mediator and have that same attitude toward asking God Almighty as well, we may be sure that She will help us untangle, in some way, the struggles of our lives."
With today being the Vigil of The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in anticipation of honoring the most loving of Mothers tomorrow with the solemnity of Her special Holy Day of Obligation, a simple maternal image may inspire us to greater faith, trust, and a desire to serve Christ through Her guidance and assistance.
Our Lady has many titles and has been depicted by artists over the centuries in many ways to convey those titles. One such unique image is in The Church of Mary The Door to Heaven in Brazil. There one will find a unique copy of an original painting venerated in Perlack, Germany since 1700. Created by an unknown artist and inspired by a meditation of Saint Irenaeus in which he surmised that "the knot created by Eve's disobedience had been undone by Mary's obedience," this work gives us a simple yet powerful spin on how we think about Our Blessed Mother. The painting depicts Mary untangling the knots on a ribbon.

The Devil as Entangler
If Mary is our Great Undoer of Knots, then the devil is he who creates those knots. Either through our own weak humanity or his indirect or direct influence, the evil one relishes in binding us and enslaving us to sin, despair, surrender, frustration, and every other evil and harmful disposition that draws us away from God Almighty and toward perdition. Recall that we have been given the great image of Mary stepping on that evil entangler, coiled and knotted in his own defeat rather than around our souls.
The New Order's Litany of "Nots"
I do not believe that it is a coincidence that a synonym of "knot" is "not". Simply put, every "not" proclaimed by The New Order is a "knot" seeking to ensnare and enslave us in sin, despair, or collapse before this society's despicable standards and attacks on our souls. The New Order often tells us "not" to mention God, "not" to follow moral codes, "not" to listen to anyone other than our own desires, "not" to follow tradition, "not" to proclaim our beliefs and "not" to rock the boat. This Order twists the Sacred and Divine "Not" repeated in The Ten Commandments into imposing chains and offers its series of "not"s as a replacement. While God's "Not" frees us to love and serve Him and thus leads to our salvation, this society's "nots" enslave us in selfish arrogance and rationalized spin on sin that only serves the devil and leads to our perdition!
Sadly the emphasis on this knotting of morals, virtues and values in society corresponds with the very same time frame that The Catholic Church was eclipsed by the New Order church at Vatican II. The result, as can clearly be seen, is that rather than helping Mary untie the knots, they only added more knots by relaxing disciplines and doctrines, opening the door to secularism, humanism, ecumenism and modernism that have only increased the litany of "nots" and made it much more tangled for souls everywhere. You might say, as confused as so many have become, they're all tied up in knots.
The Surefire Tool to Undo the Knots
Ever since the time of St. Dominic we have had the tool to undo the knots of the world, the flesh and the devil. That tool is Mary's holy Rosary. This beaded bouquet is the fail-safe method to unravel the devil's agenda. It is the bridge to Heaven through Mary the Gate of Heaven or, as She is called in Brazil at the church bearing her title where the beautiful painting resides: Mary Door of Heaven. The Rosary is the knotless direct line to Heaven, faster than DSL, fiber optics, broadband or any other frequency; instant communication with no static, no "can you hear me now" for God hears everything and everyone. It is His Blessed Mother who prioritizes needs, untying encumbrances that would prevent us from striving for holiness and being someday at her side in the presence of the Beatific Vision.
The present situation in New Order church may best be described as a bunch of knots entangling and strangling the truth in a sea of deception, evil, distortion, corruption and confusion. Each situation presents us with nothing more than knots created by the devil using our own human weakness to trap us eternally. For every abortion there is a confused woman. For every liberal, feminist, sodomite or any other effort there is a confused and twisted perception of what is important, what is morally acceptable, and what makes us better as human beings. In every case of sin, there is some form of confusion, some kind of knot strangling our love and service for God.
As we honor and see The Blessed Mother in Her Heavenly Glory tomorrow on one of Her great Feasts, we may be well served to allow some time to see Her as She most wants to be seen: the simple, loving Mother undoing the knots in her children's laces so that her children do not trip up over satan's "nots" and can walk steadier toward Her Divine Son through the Door of Heaven.

Editor's Note: Heaven is once again under attack by those who would seek to ignore and overthrow God's majesty and authority. Gabriel Garnica, educator and attorney, submits regular insights and commentaries to remind and help guide readers toward a deeper and more assertive faith. Touching on topics and issues ranging from personal faith, doctrine, education, scripture, the media, family life, morality, and values, Gabriel's notes are music to traditional ears but unpleasant tones to those who have bought into the misguided notions so prevalent and spreading in today's Catholic world.
