The American Church In Default

by
Father James F. Wathen

The occult octopus hides in the inky regions of the prince of darkness and we must do all we can to avoid this monster of mammon.

It has come down to the point where it's one or the other - As the Gospel said Sunday, "You cannot serve God and mammon." Thus one is either an American first or a true Catholic first. If one subscribes to the latter then plod on and reap the fleeting reward you are being programmed for by a government committed to a one-world order where Jesus is not in the equation as you are squeezed into submission and oblivion. If one wishes to be true to Christ and His Church, then uncompromisingly stand for the inalienable Truths and Traditions of Holy Mother Church no matter the sacrifices and persecutions for the rewards are out of this world!

"There are many reasons why the American Church, which is supposed to honor Christ as the King of this country, and labor toward His effective rule and due exaltation, but they are too numerous to list here. One fact merits attention, namely, that Catholics in this country seem always to have been on the defensive, or at least, have acted like it. It seems that from colonial days that the Church and its children manifested a need to prove themselves to their fellow citizens, prove that they were just as American and anyone else, and provide evidence that their being Catholic in no way militated against their being loyal, and not politically subservient to the pope. (There was, of course, no need to provide this proof; Protestants accusers should have been ignored.) Instead, they should have demonstrated that their main concerns were their own salvation and the conversion of the American nation to the Catholic Faith."

According to The American Free Press (8/15/05, p. 10), "In March of this year, China responded to the State Department’s annual report on human rights violations around the world, assailing China for jailing, torturing and murdering criminals and political dissidents. China’s own account was aimed squarely at the United States. It compared the United States’ 270 million citizens to the one billion plus Chinese, charging that the US is riddled with violence, sexual abuse, corruption, press censorship, overcrowded jails, prisoner abuse and health care inequities, and is far from the international image of a land of opportunity The following contains some excerpts from the Chinese document:

American society is characterized with rampant violent crimes, severe infringement of people’s rights by law enforcement departments and a lack of guarantee for people’s rights to life, liberty and security of person.

Most prisons in the US are overcrowded, but still cannot meet the demand. The country has spent an average of $7 billion a year building new jails and prisons in the past 10 years. [It is unnecessary to say that a major contributant to this prison glut is the curtailment of the death penalty. JFW.]

The United States claims to be ‘a paragon of democracy,’ but American democracy is manipulated by the rich and malpractice are common. Elections in the US are in fact a contest of money.

The US is the only country in the world that rules out ex-inmates’ right to vote, which disenfranchises five million ex-inmates.

After the Sept. 11 [2002] incident, the US openly restricts the rights of citizens under the cloak of homeland security, and uses diverse means, including wiretapping of phone conversations and secret investigations, checks on all secret files, and monitoring transfers of funds and cast flows, to supervise activities of the citizens.

According to FBI Crime Statistics, in 2003 the US Witnessed 93,233 cases of rape. Virtually 63.2 in every 100,000 women fell victim. The statistics also showed tat every two minutes one woman was sexually assaulted and ever six minutes one woman was raped.

To avoid international scrutiny, the US keeps under wraps half of its 20-odd detention centers worldwide which are holding terrorist suspects. And at least seven US-controlled clandestine prisons, one of which dubbed ‘inferno,’ in Afghanistan, have not been kept within the bounds of law.

As the biggest arms dealer in the world, the United States has made a fortune out of war. Its sales of conventional weapons exceeded $14.5 billion in 2003, up $900 million year-on-year and accounting for 56.7 percent of the total sales worldwide.

The United States frequently commits wanton slaughter during external invasion and military attacks .[It also funds Israel in its extreme cruelty to the Palestinians whose land the Jews invaded and falsely claimed as their ancestral homeland. JFW.]

Despite its own human rights problems, the US Continues to stick to its belligerent stance, wantonly trampling on the sovereignty of other countries, and constantly stages tragedies of human rights infringement around the world."

This of course is only half the story:

The Congress refuses to discuss the suppression or control of the IRS, which is the government’s official extortion agency, partially because its members themselves are afraid of being audited.

The Marxist Graduated Income Tax, to which all citizens are subject, unjustly penalizes the industrious and successful by claiming that, because they make more, they owe more.

Citizens are required to receive vaccinations, which account for untold injury and disability, whose producers are protected by the courts.

There is the system of Plea Bargaining, by which the government forces innocent people to admit to lesser crimes than they are charged with, lest they be framed and sentenced for greater ones.

The government and the media work in tandem, with the result that there is practically no freedom of the press; the "news" is nothing but propaganda.

Federal courts routinely intervene in nonfederal cases. Federal judges are political appointees; their rulings have no connection either with justice or the Constitution. Further, without the least foundation, federal court decisions become law of the land.

Abortion is a crime which cries to Heaven for vengeance. The current law requires that all governmental entities, at every level, protect this heinous, satanic bloodbath.

The government controls the schools and educates for the sake of destroying true learning and true freedom of thought and information, and of corrupting the minds and morals of students, beginning at the earliest age.

On any excuse--the environment, eminent domain, economic need, etc.--the government plunders its citizens, and violates their property rights. To seek redress in court is to invite financial ruin.

On other occasions, we have observed that the two dominant errors (of Soviet Russia) warned of by our Lady of Fatima are atheism and socialism. The World Conspiracy has promoted both of these without letup from the very beginning of its existence, and it is has succeeded in causing masses of men to forsake all belief in God, or at least all concern for the moral law.

The more we look, the worse we find it to be: The American government is corrupt in almost all its agencies, policies, and activities, an enemy to the world and its own citizens, whom it classifies and treats as criminals waiting their opportunity. We find that its morality is that of any totalitarian government, such as China, Cuba, Russia, Israel, which is that it may do anything that it can get away with, and it does all things for the increase of its power. All socialist governments are totalitarian, though they pretend to have some care for their less able and more needy citizens. The citizens of socialists governments seldom realize that their governments are the main cause of poverty and inequity. A huge portion of their taxes is used for watching and punishing them.

Such a repressive regime is possible when the government and the media are the same. Hitler was denounced by the US for the control of the press and the suppression of rights; Saddam Hussein also. This was and is its justification for invasion and genocide, at the cost of thousands of lives.

Where atheism is the state religion, the government sets the norm for moral conduct. Where atheism prevails, the rulers do not fear the judgment of God.

Where atheism reigns, the people's notion of morality becomes confused and fluid. Thus, the government is able to excuse and/or stigmatize all conduct according to its political whimsy and favoritism.

The US has become the imperialist monster that it is because the American Catholic Church has failed in its duty to reprove its policies and actions, both its internal and foreign crimes. Instead, for the most part, the Church in this country has been on the wrong side of the controversy or supinely uninvolved. More accurately, the Church has gone the way of political correctness and expediency. Instead of speaking for Christ the King, American bishops have loved the society of the rich and powerful. Some of the worst politicians are Catholics.

We do not blame American Catholic bishops for not knowing and not seeing all these things; we blame them for an arrogant, bullheaded unwillingness to learn, for being closed to information; for putting themselves forward as moral monitors and commentators, when their collective opinion on all things is not Christian but liberal, irrational, and indefensible; for pompously pretending to know, but invariably taking the politically correct and leftist position on everything. We blame them for being morally blind to the crimes of the government, when it is their duty is to condemn the whole pagan and socialist system.

Those who read this already know the story. We mention it for an occasion to make the point that the Lord Jesus Christ, our King, anticipated the innate propensity of rulers to do evil, to ignore God and His law, and ever to grasp for more power in every direction, regardless of what they must do to get it. This is another of the reasons for the Church's existence, to serve as a rein on governments; all governments tend to violate their citizens and to encroach upon their neighbors. Those which do not are the exception. It is the right and duty of the Church to remind rulers that they are subject to God and His Commandments. Whatever it is immoral for individuals to do, it is immoral for governments to do. The plan of God is for all men to be members of His Church, and therefore the spiritual subjects of Christ the King and the popes. In this way no matter how vast its territory and how many citizens any country might have, each and every one of them, whether they are rulers or subjects, is subject to His law and His Vicar.

Even in states which are not Catholic, the Church must make Christ’s Voice heard. Every matter that has a religious or moral connotation is subject to the Church’s comment and veto. Any law condemned by the Church, and any policy or activity which offends the moral law, gives scandal, or hampers the Church in her mission of saving souls, or gives special advantage to the adherents of another religion, or special treatment or benefit to selected citizens, rich or poor, black or white, is subject to condemnation. Catholics in such a state should be organized by the clergy to oppose such evils, even if such Catholic action is resented.

The US has no state religion as does England, Israel, and Saudi Arabia. Portugal, Monaco, and Liechtenstein still claim to be Catholic states. At one time all the nations of Western Europe were Catholic, and the Church interested herself in all their laws and policies. The State was expected to assist the Church in its work, such as supply money for its schools, hospitals, and missionary endeavors. The rulers of Catholic states recognized that heretical cults undermined the commonwealth, because they brought disunity, dissension, and conflict. They also spread error and undermined the morals of the people.

If things were as they should be, the Bishops of America would have condemned the Civil War, and named the US in the Spanish-American War as the imperialist aggressor. Later, the Bishops would have disallowed this country’s involvement in the First World War and abominated the Treaty of Versailles. Later still, the Bishops would have named Roosevelt and Churchill as the warmongers they were, no less than Hitler, and identified the (poorly) hidden alliance with the Communist Soviet Union, the concealment of which was the purpose of the (so-called) "Cold War."

If things were as they should be, the Bishops of America would corporately expose the Money Cartel which controls the Federal Reserve, the Bank of England, and the finances of many other nations. If they truly wish to assist the poor, they would expose the socialist program of the United States, whose very purpose is to reduce an ever greater percentage of the population to a mere survival existence. Instead, as we know, in their obtuseness, the American clergy are socialist-minded themselves, who cannot see what millions of less educated citizens see very clearly. If things were right, the American Church, with the Church Universal, would anathematize the United Nations, whose world-enveloping purposes have been exposed from the first day of its existence, and whose godlessness is notorious and flagitious in the extreme. It is a mystery of the age how ministers of Christ could have any truck with this evil organization, which they have lauded as "the last and best hope of the world;" that, in direct contradiction of St. Paul, who wrote: "What concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath the faithful with the unbeliever? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God: as God saith: I will dwell in them and walk among them. And I will be their God: and they shall be My people" (II Cor. 6:15, 16).

The American Catholic Church should make a moral assessment of everything the US government has done and is doing. It should educate its people on these matters and should make public statements disapproving of government actions (practically all of them), and explain to the whole people why they are to be impugned. The Bishops should have a newspaper or weekly publication in which they keep their people informed on all matters moral and political, so that they can sanction or censure everything that is against their bests interests, as well as against the interests of the general population. The editorial policy of such a publication should be dictated not by party alignments, politics, nor in terms of conservative and liberal sympathies, but on the basis of the Christian code of morality, and in terms of what is good for American Catholics and the Catholic Church in America--and (to a lesser extent), in terms of the US Constitution, toward which politicians tend to show their scorn.

As we have said before, the federal government and the news media are as one. The result of this is that the vast majority of the population think the way the government wants them to. But the control of the government is not so complete that the truth is nowhere to be found. The fact is, it is readily available to anyone who makes a minimal effort. Thanks to the Internet, information is more available than it has ever been, more information than one person can absorb, but all that anyone needs to counteract the propaganda. Once a person has his eyes opened, he can see the World Conspiracy at work, often anticipate some of its moves.

If things were as they ought to be, the Catholic Church in America would be a great bulwark against our world-swallowing oligarchy. If things were right, the American Church would keep us informed as to what is really happening. It would attempt to organize the faithful into an effective voting and lobbying contingent, which could easily counteract the Jews, who, despite their small numbers, dictate American law and policy. It would expose the corruption of the legal process, the corruption of the federal judiciary, the corruption of voting machine elections, the criminality of the Income Tax and of the Internal Revenue Service. It would identify the Jewish Lobby, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Bilderberg group, Freemasonry, and other clandestine societies cannot endure exposure: secrecy is their principal weapon.

There are many reasons why the American Church, which is supposed to honor Christ as the King of this country, and labor toward His effective rule and due exaltation, but they are too numerous to list here. (There was, of course, no need to provide this proof; Protestants accusers should have been ignored.) Instead, they should have demonstrated that their main concerns were their own salvation and the conversion of the American nation to the Catholic Faith.

The American Church expended its resources and energy on being "American," which means that they embraced the worldliness and materialism of their fellow citizens. As time has marched forward, especially since the Council, they have become indistinguishable from the most liberal Protestants and nonbelievers. Like the heathens around them, they crave money, overemphasize sports, compromise all moral principles, and contribute greatly to the socialization and demoralization of the country. Catholic schools are nothing but expensive Liberal brainwashing mills and centers of scandal.

Again I thank everyone who has prayed for me and my brother, John, and ask you to continue. My Brother John has done very well with his therapy, and his mood is much improved. It looks as if he may get over the effects of the stroke to a great degree.

I was told that surviving the chemotherapy would be difficult and of an uncertain duration. I am learning that now. But apparently I am over the worst of it. I am looking forward to doing something useful. There is little doubt that my survival and progress are due to the prayers of many kind friends, known and unknown. God has spared me for a while; I must be sure to make the best of my extended time. I dream of the day when my illness will not be the subject of so much concern. I receive every card and word of encouragement with genuine appreciation, as well as gifts of money which go for the payment of bills. So far, our medical insurance has paid for practically all of my medical care, which, as everyone presumes, has been costly. In a spirit of gratitude, I sent my priestly blessing to everyone, praying in my turn for his spiritual growth in Christ.

In Christ,

Father James Wathen
